You beat me to it: https://youtu.be/RjKNbfA64EE?si=dhk2K17kMndcTXT_&t=34
Tylast··on I also filed the corners off my MacBook
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I do this to ALL my MBPs. Makes a tremendous difference. With all the rounded corners that Apple forces on their customers, I find it insane that they haven't rounded the one that actually causes user physical pain.
Tylast··on A possible future for Damn Interesting
Ditto on the podcast...still subscribed here. I also bought your book (Alien Hand Syndrome) way back when. Cheers!
Tylast··on The seed oil panic is hurting my cardiac patients
+1 for this!
Tylast··on OpenClaw is a security nightmare dressed up as a daydream
I'm on my 3rd "claw" variant (currently https://github.com/moltis-org/moltis). I had the same issues you had. Moltis is better (at the moment).
Tylast··on BMW's Newest "Innovation" Is a Logo-Shaped Middle Finger to Right to Repair
Seems to be in line with BMW's enshitification moves they've made regarding Home Assistant. I actually have an X5 that was affected by this & it will be the last BMW I ever own.

Tylast··on A 26,000-year astronomical monument hidden in plain sight (2019)
At a loss for words. :|
Tylast··on Modern cars are spying on you. Here's what you can do about it
I don't disagree with you on BMW's data collection capabilities. However, I've read about 2023s being tuned. It's also widely reported that BMW encrypted many of the computers starting in 2024.

This past September, BMW disabled 3rd party access (think Home Assistant) to vehicle data. There are only 2 paid 3rd party companies allowed. 2+ years of me using HA (with some awesome automations) was terminated. I was willing to let them use my data as long as I could too, but now I don't even have access to my own data!

Tylast··on The science behind on-the-wrist blood pressure tracking
I cut out caffeine & my chest pain completely went away & never came back.
Tylast··on Disney's not alone in saying your clicks means you can't sue
You might want to add contact info to your website.
Tylast··on CrowdStrike Update: Windows Bluescreen and Boot Loops
Oh wow! Thanks for that. I use flight aware and twas not award of that particular page.
Tylast··on CrowdStrike Update: Windows Bluescreen and Boot Loops
Oh, the foresight of the 1st episode of Connections. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XetplHcM7aQ

Tylast··on Bradford pear trees banned in few states – More are looking to eradicate them
I had 3 in my yard. I never thought twice about them until one split down the middle & destroyed my carport 3 years ago. I cut the rest of that one down & the one next to it that could fall on my house. A neighbor had one split last summer & blocked the road. The wood from these trees are dense and heavy. I never walk under them anymore due to how quickly they just fall down.
Tylast··on SF streets were clean for APEC, here's what Tenderloin and SoMa look like now
You just reminded me of a girlfriend I had in NYC when I lived in NJ. I remember the first time she came to see me. She had never left the city by ground transportation & didn't know how to use NJ Transit lines.
Tylast··on Alaska Airlines 737 Max makes emergency landing due to depressurization
I'm surprised that this aspect isn't discussed more. Alaska Airlines knew this plane had a problem, but chose to fly it anyway. Ughhh!
Tylast··on The Timer in WatchOS 10
This was the first thing I noticed after I upgraded. I constantly switched between faces & now I have this extra step. Super annoying.
Tylast··on Square where Julius Caesar was killed opens to the public in Rome
The first time I went to Rome in 2001 and was near zero fencing. I remember walking the entire forum unencumbered. BUT, when I went back in 2012 & I couldn't walk any of it. I guess that's the price we pay to ensure it's preserved.
Tylast··on Poor schemas, poor cataloguing: why music tagging sucks
Regarding the "Genre" tag, Apple Music make that problem 1000% worse as Apple Music does NOT allow multiple separate Genres per track. When selecting multiple Genres, it concatenates the names into a unique Genre thus defeating the purpose of trying to tag a track with multiple Genres. It is the only musics database that I've seen do this.
Tylast··on Omega-3 fatty acids and exercise: a review of their combined effects (2011) [pdf]
53% daily sodium? Instant high blood pressure.
Tylast··on Assume your devices are compromised
So does Lastpass.
Tylast··on I sent my boyfriend a picture of a storm. He got one of a woman and a dog
Twice in the past, my FaceTime connected to someone I didn't know. I immediately hung up & got the right person on the 2nd try. Both times, I initiated the call from a Hilton. I submitted a report in Feedback assistant for both incidents.
Tylast··on Whatever happened to Flickr?
I was an avid Flickr user before Yahoo seemed to degrade the quality. Specifically for me, many of the groups I was in all of a sudden allowed illustrations as valid photographs. These were NOT photographs....so I moved on from Flickr.
Tylast··on There Is No Shortage of Reasons for the Broken Supply Chain
Butterfly Labs was basically using the customer paid rigs to mine Bitcoin for themselves before they shipped customers obsolete devices. They only sent me mine after I called my CC company, disputed the charges & reported the non-delivery as fraud...magically, my rig showed up a week later.

Tylast··on FBI releases 9/11 investigation document that scrutinized Saudis
Trillions of dollars are NOT missing…never were. With 34 colors of money, subdivided by Fiscal Year (FY), and where the RDT&E is further divided by 8 budget activities (each also divided by FY), it becomes a task impossible to tell congress (who actually created this insane level of fiscal sub-division in the first place) that every single dollar was spent according to their scheme.

Think about it, there is not a single off the shelf enterprise accounting system designed to accommodate even a fraction of this maniacal minutia.

Note that the cited list didn’t account for JIEDO appropriation type (which also had a FY component) which was prevalent over the past 20 years, but is now defunct.

A major part of the problem (save the super fragmented parsing of the funding) is that each service has their own accounting & execution systems. There is NOT a singular DoD system.

Tylast··on Juniper breach mystery starts to clear with new details on hackers and U.S. role
I wonder how much Intellectual Property was exfiltrated because of this?
Tylast··on Tools for Thinking
I've been using TheBrain for about 5 years & am mostly happy with it. It is a bit pricey though! The unique visual is an almost most for me. I'm willing to try Obsidian, but I think I'd need TheBrain's unique visual to make it work for me.

Tylast··on Ask HN: How do you organize your knowledge?
