TruthElixirX··on SQL injection attacks jumped 69% in Q2
I wonder, and I am just pulling this out of my ass, if this is anything like the Skyscraper Index.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyscraper_Index

Perhaps we see this many SQL Injections because money is getting thrown around too liberally (and bad coders are getting more work) and is a precursor to a bubble.

Does anyone know how this news correlates with past SQL injection numbers, and if it has increased relative to the amount of internet usage?

You cannot prove that those things would not have come about without Bell Labs. Seeing as Google is doing this, Mozilla is building "Rust", and HP created a memristor, I'm pretty sure a similar list of inventions (transistor, laser, C language, UNIX) would have come out without Bell Labs.

I wrote a paper once in college over this. It wasn't a master thesis or anything, but the conclusion I reached was that pick up artist stuff was really just hooking emotionally crippled men up with emotionally crippled women.

I read "The Game" by Neil Strauss as part of my paper and the guy he follows in it, Mystery, is very emotionally under developed. He throws temper tantrums continually. Both Neil and Mystery seem to have huge self esteem problems and use pick up artist tricks to try to make themselves feel better without ever addressing their core problems.

The women they meet on their journey, according to them, are fantastic looking, but they too have huge emotional problems, mainly very very low self worth.

So you have these guys who are pretty intelligent from a sort of book stand point and these girls who have very low self esteem. In the end everyone in the book seemed to be worse off. Many of them spiral out of control and end up pretty bad.

It was pretty sad. :(

TruthElixirX··on DC "Uber Amendment" would force sedans to charge 5x more than taxis
Thats not an issue of regulation. Theft is already illegal as is fraud. Telling someone they must pay more after a transaction is a violation of an implicit contract. Adding further regulation doesn't stop shit like that.

It will not be used for road safety, it will be used to target dissent or people they don't like since there are so many traffic laws you are probably always breaking one.

>His website was accessible in the US by design (one could forbid US visitors in the ToS, and by geoip), and the "harm" from his supposed crime occurred, for those US users, in the US, not inside his server.

No one should have to concern themselves with the laws of every nation on Earth when building a website. There is usually not enough time in your life to consider the laws from only your home country.

TruthElixirX··on Microsoft’s developer problem
There were several programs in my college classes (enterprise bullshit) that I needed IE to run. I didn't say it was a good thing, but that is the way it was.

Visible Analyst 2008

Net Weaver

SAP client

CoD Black Ops

CoD MW3

Insert tons of other video games

Internet Explorer

And that is just what I personally need a copy of Windows to run.

Gendered words aren't sexist (he/she), they are descriptive in the same way that black/white are.

Bitching is the (sort of) equivalent of the word niggardly. Niggardly has no etymological roots with nigger, but they sound similar and niggardly means stingy/miserly/has negative connotations. Lets pretend for a second that they are derived from the same root (They're not but I lack a better example off the top of my head).

Saying black would not be the same as saying niggardly.

TruthElixirX··on Salon publishes 33% fewer articles, traffic grows 40%
Most people are too fucking stupid to concern themselves with such things as gender equality.

I don't find it offensive, but it is sexist. It just shows a lack of forethought on your part and a lack of understanding of gender norms/privilege/etc.

Subtlety assigning words like that is sexist. And dicking around does have gendered connotations, if you don't realize that then see statement one.
