TrispusAttucks··on UHZ1: NASA telescopes discover record-breaking black hole
Universe is possibly much older than we think it is.
TrispusAttucks··on Earth Stopped Getting Greener 20 Years Ago
I wouldn't put too much stock into personal carbon footprint estimates.

It's just a way of re-framing the carbon problem away from those actually responsible for it and turn it into to a battle between folks arguing who is more virtuous.

--

Thought experiment:

What if we removed the "people" from the problem and just looked at the geographic area?

Does a rural 10 square mile produce as much GHG as an urban 10 square mile?

--

When you analyze it based on personal carbon footprint you are ignoring business and industry and focusing on residential.

This is by design, so those responsible aren't even included in the equation.

TrispusAttucks··on The Nuclear Theory of Love
Marriage is more like a good wood fired furnace. If you put in the effort it will keep you warm and happy. If you forget to tend to the logs and the fire your home will grow cold and unwelcoming.
TrispusAttucks··on The Source of Readability
Using vertical space keeps code line diffs so much cleaner.
TrispusAttucks··on [dead]
What concrete steps did they take?
TrispusAttucks··on Journalists should be skeptical of all sources including scientists
"Journalist" are paid to tell a narrative not the truth. The four estate is dead don't kid yourself.
TrispusAttucks··on Beyond introvert vs. extrovert
That's pretty much the premise of the article.
TrispusAttucks··on New study suggests that lab-grown meat produces up to 25 times more CO2
Your not one of them. You're also rational.

Cheers!

TrispusAttucks··on New study suggests that lab-grown meat produces up to 25 times more CO2
Wrong person
TrispusAttucks··on New study suggests that lab-grown meat produces up to 25 times more CO2
I do raise meat animals.

This is life. We must eat. Large scale plant agriculture is also destructive. There is no escape.

TrispusAttucks··on New study suggests that lab-grown meat produces up to 25 times more CO2
It's not an addiction it's a matter of human biology. We are meat eaters. Shall we regulate the CO2 we exhale?
TrispusAttucks··on New study suggests that lab-grown meat produces up to 25 times more CO2
Animals converting plants to meat/protein is more efficient than humans directly eating an entirely plant based diet.
TrispusAttucks··on New study suggests that lab-grown meat produces up to 25 times more CO2
Monoculture agriculture is terrible for wildlife. Going plant based doesn't save the planet.
TrispusAttucks··on New study suggests that lab-grown meat produces up to 25 times more CO2
Corn would like to have a talk with your meat subsidizes.
TrispusAttucks··on FBI Misused Spy Database, FISA Court Says
I agree. It was obvious to anyone paying attention. But most people still believe there was some truth to it because the media lied for years. The report was important to get those people back to reality.
TrispusAttucks··on Philips sets €575M aside for respirator lawsuits
Ditto. It was a ridiculous wait.

Thoughts on the replacement unit they sent? I don't like the new one. The pressure dynamics don't feel the same especially on exhale.

TrispusAttucks··on Master Plan Part 3
Of course! Just give up a little freedom here, and a little freedom there, and once we're all in prison cells we will have all the security we need! Common sense.
TrispusAttucks··on Simple Sabotage Field Manual (1944)
It feels like this is happening to the entire country right now.
TrispusAttucks··on Gambas Almost Means BASIC
I credit Visual Basic with sparking my interest in computers and programming. It hit the perfect balance of power and approachability for beginners. Curious to try compiling some of my ancient projects.
TrispusAttucks··on Italy moves to ban lab-grown meat to protect food heritage
This is a nonsensical response. I never argued anything about legally calling anything flour or not.

OP said: > There is nothing unsafe, unnatural, or otherwise „bad“ about using insects for food

I'm refuting that statement.

There are safety concerns with insect based protein. There are aspects that could be considered "bad".

I'll assume you incorrectly replied to the wrong post because that makes more sense.

TrispusAttucks··on Italy moves to ban lab-grown meat to protect food heritage
This isn't true.

There are valid health concerns of insect based "meat" and insect derived flour. Including: higher baseline contamination of harmful bacteria, high levels of arsenic, questionable nutritional value, digestive issues with the hardshells common to the types of insects used for these products.

TrispusAttucks··on Why Are There No Relational DBMSs? [pdf] (2015)

TrispusAttucks··on Yellen says government will help SVB depositors but rules out bailout
Your statement is out of touch with most American workers. Especially blue collar.

Subsidize my class on the backs of the underclass.

Let's solve the wealth inequality gap with more wealth inequality.

TrispusAttucks··on Yellen says government will help SVB depositors but rules out bailout
That definitely sucks but why should Americans who had nothing to do with the bank or sector fork over public tax dollars to provide a soft landing?
TrispusAttucks··on The Trump-Russia Saga and the Death Spiral of American Journalism
People still to this day think Trump Russia-gate hoax was real.

The amount of deception and corruption is beyond belief.

If you look into the nitty gritty of what was happening behind the scenes it should send chills down the spine of all Americans.

TrispusAttucks··on Covid lab leak is a scandal of media and government censorship
The evidence was actively suppressed, scrubbed, and authors ridiculed and threatened.

We the People need an apology and an investigation.

That Headline is a bit extreme.

Here is what he said.

“The biggest drug cartels in the world get together and buy up all the media and all the politicians and force all the people in the world to stay locked in their homes, and people can only come out if they take the cartel’s drugs — and keep taking them — over and over.”

“I threw the script away. I mean, who is gonna believe that crazy idea! Being forced to do drugs? I do them voluntarily all day long.”

If you find this fascinating then [1] Panpsychis may be a fun hole for you to go down.

Basically consciousness is a fundamental property of the universe.

TrispusAttucks··on Meta’s Push to Solve the Noisy Office
I wonder if they regret they're ridiculous push for the largest open office design ever that most employees were against.
TrispusAttucks··on Black holes as the source of dark energy
Couldn't the proposed variations in spacetime expansion in relative proximity to a SMBH change the curvature of galaxies and perhaps account for the discrepancy between rotational velocities [1] observed vs. expected?

I didn't get a sense of how near or far from the black hole that the expansion variations were present.
