Tool_of_Society··on I am stepping down as the CEO of Mastodon
Well he was doing a good job at buying popularity until he fired his PR team so..
Tool_of_Society··on DOGE employees ordered to stop using Slack
He didn't even get a majority of the 60% of voter aged Americans who voted.
Tool_of_Society··on What's happening inside the NIH and NSF
Bro I'm a gun owner and a big time first amendment proponent and all that. I've been called a socialist, communist, American hater, a racist and more by those on the right as soon as I contradict dear leader slightly.

The right is every bit as bad at this as the left because at the end of the day people are going to people.

Democrats for life of America disagrees with your assessment. The organization has existed since 1999. Henry Cuellar is a member of the democratic party and is very "pro-life".

The issue is that "pro-life" has morphed into anti-choice. What is happening in Texas and other states is not pro-life. Forcing women to die is not a pro-life stance.

Tool_of_Society··on What's happening inside the NIH and NSF
Uh maybe read the declaration of independence and some of the writings of the founders? They most certainly did NOT want the executive branch to be a king...

ALso a slim majority of the 60% who voted is not an overwhelming majority. Biden's win against Trump was bigger.

Tool_of_Society··on Ear muscle we thought humans didn't use activates when people listen hard
Yup I have the same issue with the aching muscles.
Tool_of_Society··on Ear muscle we thought humans didn't use activates when people listen hard
Am I the only one that consciously uses that muscle??
Tool_of_Society··on Octopuses seen hunting together with fish
Look bro you're entire response history in this thread has been childish. You don't deserve more than that. A real expert expecting to be taken seriously would of at least bothered to scan the easily found study (<5 mins on google). Then they would of posted at least a cliff notes of what they found wrong with the study. Instead you just shit posted.
Tool_of_Society··on Octopuses seen hunting together with fish
You're the foremost expert on cephalopods with decades of experience in the field yet can't be bothered to spend 10-15 minutes to scan the study. Got it.

Love how you keep capitalizing cephalopod like you just copy pasted it off a google search to get the proper spelling :P

Remember kids. Animals in captivity always behave exactly as they do in the wild. Also every individual is exactly the same so you never see any variation in behaviour regardless of inhabiting a wide range across multiple oceans.

Tool_of_Society··on Hacking Kia: Remotely controlling cars with just a license plate
Hell Mississippi as a state might soon pass Chicago in murder rate per capita. Chicago last year had a murder rate of 22.85 per 100,000 while Mississippi had a murder rate of 20.7 per 100,000. Louisiana had 19.8 and Alabama had 18.6..
Tool_of_Society··on Octopuses seen hunting together with fish
In the one short video you do see what you want to see. Meanwhile the researchers have hundreds of hours into this...

Probably shouldn't base your entire opinion of the study on a 17 second video or a fluff article.

Tool_of_Society··on Octopuses seen hunting together with fish, punching those that don't cooperate
I feel like my life would of been enriched a few times had that been a viable legal option to pursue :P
Tool_of_Society··on Did your car witness a crime? Bay Area police may be coming for your Tesla
Calumet park is a village right next to Chicago with under 7000 people. Northfield village has under 6000 people and it's located within about 15 miles of Chicago. It wasn't until I was about 18 that I realized what I thought was Chicago were actually small towns/villages. There's a whole slew of small villages next to or "in" larger cities.
Tool_of_Society··on Microsoft will switch off Recall by default after security backlash
Indeed since this is MS you can guarantee this is just a another step in them expanding their ability to monitor your habits for further monetization.
Tool_of_Society··on Microsoft will switch off Recall by default after security backlash

Browser history doesn't show my passwords, everything I typed out and did on the machine.

In comparison browser history is nothing.

Tool_of_Society··on Apple apologizes for iPad 'Crush' ad that 'missed the mark'
People didn't even notice that it was "space imploders" lol. They were too busy being outraged.
Tool_of_Society··on Apple apologizes for iPad 'Crush' ad that 'missed the mark'
It was a mini arcade box which are sold by a variety of companies with any number of real arcade games using modern hardware in them for under $300.

I can't find any existence for the game "Space Imploders" though.

Tool_of_Society··on Apple apologizes for iPad 'Crush' ad that 'missed the mark'
"Space Imploder" is not a real arcade game. That looked like one of those cheap mini arcade boxes you can buy brand new from a variety of sources.

I see a bunch of cheap knock offs being crushed but I cannot say all of the items were.

Tool_of_Society··on Oh Frick Go Back: GUI Tool to Removes Ads from Various Places Around Windows 11
They are called 'suggestions" "recommended" or "tips" in the OS. They are just straight up ads..
Tool_of_Society··on Oh Frick Go Back: GUI Tool to Removes Ads from Various Places Around Windows 11
We have a project XP machine that has been plugged into the internet for nearly a year now with no third party firewall etc. Nothing has happened despite all the proclamations it'd be an infested box within seconds of touching the internet.

The reality seems to be that problems stem from the user and what software they use to access the internet more than just being connected. This jives with your comments as you keep mentioning user actions that result in infections.

Tool_of_Society··on So Google's Gemini Doesn't Like Python Programming and Sanskrit?

Tool_of_Society··on Polish trains lock up when serviced in third-party workshops
Indeed according to the big private businesses at the time the internet was stupid and a money losing idea.

It's a common thing in American history where the US government invests in ideas/concepts that are seen as losers by the for profit industry only for those industries to swoop in and profit off the results...

Stuff like that and the American national standards institute is why the USA was in the front of the technological evolution for so long. We spent money on "useless" crap that ended up paying massive dividends later and allowed for the USA to set the standards.

Tool_of_Society··on Who makes the most reliable new cars?
Well considering that SUVs have a higher CG and people tend to drive them like they are small cars I'm not surprised ESC is so effective for SUV drivers.

ESC in a car for me can be helpful or detrimental depending on the vehicle and the implementation.

Tool_of_Society··on Who makes the most reliable new cars?
Really it just depends. Depends on who made it what it it is where it is etc.

Tool_of_Society··on Sandy Bridge: Setting Intel’s modern foundation
When MS announced the limitations on CPUs I was kind of gobsmacked. Now I'm just riding windows 10 pro until either all my hardware dies, I get bored with gaming, or an unexpected need arises requiring the change.

My primary machine can run windows 11 but I refuse to "upgrade" out of principle at this point...

Tool_of_Society··on Sandy Bridge: Setting Intel’s modern foundation
I have recently turned to the dark side of cheap ebay Xeon CPUs :P

That's a nice chip for a super cheap price man.

Tool_of_Society··on Sandy Bridge: Setting Intel’s modern foundation
My i7-3770 system I mentioned in another post here pulls 100 watts from the wall with p95 and furmark running everything at 100%. When actually gaming it's usually under 90 watts....

My old fx6300 system though pulled +250 watts just existing lol.

When I was running the stack of SFF business machines I was using vastly more power to cool the room than I was to power the machines.

Tool_of_Society··on Sandy Bridge: Setting Intel’s modern foundation
I have an OCed ryzen 5 3600 system with a NVME SSD 32gb ram blahblahblah and it's running a GTX970 I bought about 3 years ago for $100.

I had hoped the 40 series would be properly priced so I could actually afford to buy a GPU again......
