Thraway198··on How the words we teach English language learners changed
That's cause you knew what he wanted to do, and there was no other possible meaning from "make some shopping."

If he just said "make shopping some" it would have been less clear.

This is grammar from their native language. They dont know the English grammar, so they just assume it's the same as the one they understand. You just understand them via the context.

Older Europeans used to say 'AND NOW WE MAKE PARTY!"

Thraway198··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
k? That's not what I was asking.

Lmao
Thraway198··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
Wow a YouTube short with no info and a paywalled article from 2024. Very convincing.
Thraway198··on DOGE is done. What happened to its records?
"Unfortunately I have some insights I can not will not, must not talk about."

Lol.

Thraway198··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
This is a pretty ignorant take mate (I thought you were American? I'm not from the EU). All I can say is don't be surprised when your prophet turns out to be wrong.
Thraway198··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
Yeah and? Like I said, if Mexico had the reasons for it, they should join an alliance to guard against USA aggression.

And then if the USA said "we gotta invade Mexico because we're threatened by the alliance they set up to counter OUR aggression," that would be a bit hypocritical I think!

I'm not defending the US, you're preoccupied with attacking them. Ukraine has every right to join NATO because Russia is a threat to them, not because of the US.

Thraway198··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
Joining NATO is obviously the correct choice for countries like Ukraine, as evidenced by Russia's ongoing actions towards them.

Perhaps if Mexico had a long history of being invaded, divided up, and "Americanized," they would be part of a Military Alliance against American Aggression. As they should.

The German people weren't on trial at Nuremberg.

Thraway198··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
Your link says absolutely nothing about Ukraine losing the war with Russia.
Thraway198··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
Russia is about to show what it's really made of. If it can't win against Ukraine's scaled-up defence industry, then I gotta say, all these doomsayers and West-Putin equivocators will look pretty dumb.

You do sound a lot like an LLM lol
Thraway198··on EU Parliament greenlights Chat Control 1.0
Hm well then perhaps it's time to focus on saving "people," over the economy. Perhaps...states are actually best used to serve their people, instead of endless growth.

Porn is definitely damaging. It doesnt make people rapists but it screws up their sex drives.
Thraway198··on Every new car sold in the European Union must include a driver monitoring camera
Like the US does?
Thraway198··on EU Parliament greenlights Chat Control 1.0
I agree that it's justified. SOME immigration is needed in order to save "duh economy," but what we got instead was economic warfare against workers.
Thraway198··on EU Parliament greenlights Chat Control 1.0
In Canada, there's been a lot of talk about how immigration, "broke the Canadian consensus," around immigration as a good thing.

The problem is, there never was a consensus around immigration. The Liberals own stats prove that. What there was was a consensus around multiculturalism and tolerance.

Immigration itself, was always split evenly among three camps in Canada: those who want more, those who want less, and those who think we have the right amount.

Trudeau & his fake leftist brigade many have ruined multiculturalism for a large portion of Canadians, permanently.

Ok, so if a human, which is at the top of this ability to translate, choose this route.

What's the problem with an LLM-translatoin bot doing it? It would just do that, give a possible translation, and explain the issue.

Thraway198··on Cannabis users face substantially higher risk of heart attack (2025)
Oh yeah, it would. I think in Canada it will eventually open up quite a bit.
Thraway198··on Cannabis users face substantially higher risk of heart attack (2025)
it is not an exaggeration lol
Thraway198··on Multilingual experience linked to delayed aging
My point is that the AI will have that info understood as part of "being a translator," and react accordingly. The phenomenon you're describing is a basic fact of linguistics. Many things don't have direct translations, but they are still translated by fluent speakers of both languages.
Thraway198··on Multilingual experience linked to delayed aging
It can't now. It will be able to in the future, when the translation actually becomes fluent for the user.
Thraway198··on Multilingual experience linked to delayed aging
but for people in unilingual environments, this tech seems like a miracle
Thraway198··on Multilingual experience linked to delayed aging
Nah it'll be the same progression as llms.
Thraway198··on Multilingual experience linked to delayed aging
The AI will be able to do all that for you. What you're touching on is the difference between comprehension vs merely being a vessel for information.

Growing is totally separate from selling though. I don't know about the UK case but in Canada, there was intense opposition from Conservatives towards any amount of pot being allowed to be homegrown.

There were Conservative politicians who got up and publicly said that toddlers would die cause they'd eat marijuana plants grown by their parents!

I wouldn't blame the business plans so much. A lot of them applied for licenses but didn't get theirs approved till after the huge players did. By then, the market had already consolidated.

Oh yeah. That's still the cigarettes are cool generation. I wasn't even born then.

The Ferengis do have a lot of superficial similarities to Jewish caricatures.
Thraway198··on Small Penis Rule
The Ferengi don't exist as part of the Federation. Their culture isn't built on egalitarianism, so not everyone gets access.
