TheLoafOfBread··on Dark mode is not as good for your eyes as you believe
We have invented light bulb at the beginning of 20th century. You will definitely find its descendant in your room. Try to use it.
TheLoafOfBread··on Dark mode is not as good for your eyes as you believe
Then switch on the lights in your room? Why doing complex retheming and suffering pain if you don't when you can just flip the switch?
TheLoafOfBread··on Dark mode is not as good for your eyes as you believe
Dark mode, light mode ... Just switch on the light in the room and stop looking into light source while sitting in the dark. That's why your eyes hurt, when your irises need to constantly expand and contract. Dark mode is reducing amount of light coming through but does not solve the root cause of no background light.
TheLoafOfBread··on Germany set to overhaul subsidy regime for renewable energy
Yeah with draw of few kW. If you would draw watts, it could last for months!

But it might come as a shock to you, cities are taking in order of MW to GW

TheLoafOfBread··on Germany set to overhaul subsidy regime for renewable energy
No they are not. It is either 30 minutes at MW range or hours at kW range. And countries are taking GW
TheLoafOfBread··on Germany set to overhaul subsidy regime for renewable energy
Generally more like 20 minutes.

* Pumped storage is hours of electric output

* Battery storage is minutes of electric output

Cold snaps and inversions (clouds are low, no wind, cold) are counted in days to weeks.

TheLoafOfBread··on Apple okays Epic Games marketplace app in Europe
I did not write anything about selling, just publishing without Apple being involved.
TheLoafOfBread··on Apple okays Epic Games marketplace app in Europe
If you willingly take no profit (Leaving market) over less profit (Losing control over AppStore in the market) then you can be almost sure that shareholders are going to sue you and I would bet shareholders would win such lawsuit. So no Apple doesn't have this choice.
TheLoafOfBread··on Apple okays Epic Games marketplace app in Europe
Hmm. So can I publish and let users download my iOS application without being harassed by Apple? Because on Windows and MacOS I can do that.
TheLoafOfBread··on Devs claim Apple is banning VPNs in Russia 'more effectively' than Putin
This is answer on question: Is Apple going to leave EU? No they can't even leave Russia.
TheLoafOfBread··on Devs claim Apple is banning VPNs in Russia 'more effectively' than Putin
How is it that Apple has no problem to follow Russian regulations, but are having a hissy fit to follow EU regulations?
TheLoafOfBread··on Apple okays Epic Games marketplace app in Europe
They are refusing to leave Russian market and are actively cooperating with Russian government - see blocking VPNs few days ago. Russian market is much poorer and smaller. If they are refusing to leave this market, leaving EU market is ludicrous to even think about.
TheLoafOfBread··on Apple okays Epic Games marketplace app in Europe
Hmm, what? They are supposed to notarize application for security reasons, not make a review about design. Not their store, not their rules.
TheLoafOfBread··on Russia Claims Breakthrough With ATACMS
Very likely radar is in the middle of the launchers, from comments:

S-300/400 TEL have to stay close to the Radar for mainly two reasons.

The Radar vehicle also has the generator supplying the TELs with electricity.

and the even more important reason is that the radar data can only be transmited over a short distance so if the TEL is too far out it can't get data from the Radar anymore.

Edit: max range for a S-300 is 120m between the TELs and the Radar and since the S-400 is actually just a S-300PM3 its probably the same or at least very similar

> Russian territory is stupendously rich in vital natural resources

If space industry will get going in next 50 years, then this is going to be completely irrelevant.

TheLoafOfBread··on Russia Claims Breakthrough With ATACMS

For example here [0] - Russian Glonass Kometa antennas with 4 elements to reduce effects of EW warfare. Great samples for Western military complex of bleeding edge Russian EW countermeasures.

Or when Russians appears to have lost a jamming pod above Ukraine [1] Again bleeding edge EW tech which Russia just lost.

TheLoafOfBread··on Engine Sound Simulator
Cars are already having in-built engine sound simulators, especially ones with manual gear to force people shift when necessary.

TheLoafOfBread··on 'Flood' of cheap Russian fertiliser risks Europe's food security
It is still the same old strategy. They are cheap now. When targeted goods manufacturer is bust, they won't be cheap anymore. Now ability to grow food is dependent on your adversary.

China is applying same strategy with steel for decades.

TheLoafOfBread··on Ukraine's IT Army now aids drone strikes on Russian oil refineries
Why is it always Ukraine and NATO who needs to make concessions? Why people like you never talk about Russia who is actually aggressor here waging war of conquest and genocide?
TheLoafOfBread··on I'm terrified of old people
