TheHumanist··on Ask HN: How are you using GPT to be productive?
I'm so confused by this statement. I mean I have no issue with pornography or sex workers but pornography is absolutely controversial. I mean... Parents are trying to get the statue of David removed from a high school in Florida because they consider it pornographic. That's controversy and that's not even pornography.

Controversial: giving rise or likely to give rise to public disagreement.

Maybe you were being silly and I misunderstood your intent in your reply

TheHumanist··on Ask HN: How are you using GPT to be productive?
Curious how you work the prompts with the therapist persona? I'm interested in this. My main concern is GPT seems to struggle maintaining context after a time.

If you have time I'd love to hear how you approach this and maintain context so you can have successful conversations over a long period of time. Long even meaning a week or so... Let alone a month or longer

It's saved my ass this week coming up with coding exercises for a course me and some folks are working on. Has been a rough week. Depression flaring up. Creates a real mental barrier at times. GPT has helped a lot. I still will do the code myself and all that. Just came up with the written out ideas for exercises which really got me over the hump. It's incredible how helpful that was.

Oh so it doesn't have to use all seven squares. Interesting
TheHumanist··on Show HN: Can you beat my dad at Scrabble?
Could just do a minimal outer box shadow/glow around the tile in the color of the DL or TL to remind people where they are once letters are laid down.

TheHumanist··on Analysis of distances between London's bus stops
It's funny because I believe if a person was to study my gameplay in Cities XL and then also watch me function throughout a day, they would find very clear similarities in my frantic disorganization in general.

I believe, probably, it is mostly a 'me' problem. Maybe not, though. I just find it incredibly overwhelming when you get to the point where your citizens are demanding bus stops everywhere. There is already such a massive, established road network at that point and I have no idea where to begin. The funds are not an issue at that point (usually) because the city is large enough that money is kind of rolling in. It is more just the size of the city. It will need A LOT of bus stops, which makes sense... so I guess it is more just the overwhelming nature of the task.

Would it perhaps make more sense and be much less overwhelming if I were to be placing at least some bus stops as I progress through the earlier half of the game? Of course it would. Now, there are times where it wouldn't be as economically feasible, of course. Money flows much more freely in the later game, I have noticed. But, it would definitely ease the burden later in the game as far as having such a large city to cover. Then there is the question of 'is this bus stop too close/too far from the last one?'

I think it is really just the scale at which I have to place them and lack of preparation on my part (which is my life in general with pretty terrible ADHD).

Highly suggest giving that game a try, though. It's pretty incredible.

TheHumanist··on Analysis of distances between London's bus stops
Even more tangential, but setting up a truly proper bus system in Cities XL is usually the task the runs me into a brick wall and leads me to stepping away from the game for a bit.
TheHumanist··on Ask HN: How do you find time for everything in life?
I don't know what any of those stand for besides YouTube but probably 90% of my YouTube time is learning for my job. Random shit but it is for my job... So I can't drop that. Still gotta figure out where the time is going...
TheHumanist··on Ask HN: How do you find time for everything in life?
We are so good at collecting the data about the things we need to change... But acting on that data? Eh... Lol
TheHumanist··on Ask HN: How do you find time for everything in life?
But the productivity level of some people lol I can't even figure it out. And they will mention being married and having kids... And pets... They workout 4 - 5 days a week... Work full-time... Handle half the chores around the house... Take the dog on 45 min walk every day... And then have time for like three decently involved technical hobbies??? What... I end every day wondering where in the holy fuck the time went and how I accomplish so little EVERY. DAMN. DAY. For years and years now... How do they do it?! I swear we are in a simulation and they are just NPCs lol

Yeah... Definitely not correct and pretty misleading in it's incorrectness. Also that font is a bit nightmarish. . Don't get me wrong, it's really decent overall but that variable as a container is the first thing you see and that font is awful.

TheHumanist··on Study finds mushrooms magnify memory by boosting nerve growth
I struggle so much with figuring out how to fit enough fruits and especially veggies into each day. Really fruit isn't an issue now that I think about it. It's nature's candy. Veggies, though I do love them, are harder to get enough of EVERY day.

As an athlete and lifter, do you think smoothies destroy a lot of the benefit of veggies? Say I want to make a smoothie each day that is packed with spinach and broccoli and carrots. I have to clearly pulverize the crap out of that to get it drinkable. I love the idea of that, because I can get a fair amount of veggies in a smoothie... But I've heard some say that doing this can destroy a lot of the nutrients from oxidation as you blend the veggies which is also pulling oxygen into the whirlpool created by blending. Not sure if that makes sense.

Aside from making a really veggie packed smoothie each day, I struggle with how to fit all the veggies into each days diet?

I do eat a good amount of oatmeal in general... Try to have some fruit and veg every day. Very little red meat. Any pointers you could offer in general are appreciated and I'm sure others here would appreciate the extra information as well!

Learned Helplessness everywhere you look. It's why, here in the US, we won't rise up like the French as our own government also looks to raose our retirement age. Not sure how you correct this across such large demographics?

TheHumanist··on Ask HN: Has ChatGPT gotten worse at coding for anyone else?
Ok I'm not going crazy. We... I mean maybe I still am... But that isn't part of it! So,yes... Was utilizing it for some React work and in the last couple weeks had even remarked to some other folks that it seems to be much less successful with answering questions I ask that are code related and the code it outputs seems to have degraded quite a bit.

I mean... I have no issue getting herb haha But, it doesn't really have that kind of effect on me... just kind of amplifies my anxieties that are produced by the constant frantic state I am in with my ADHD :-/
TheHumanist··on Why 'Atomic Habits' may not be working for you
Every day is so frazzled and at the end of the day feels as though nothing has been accomplished. I hate having ADHD.
