TheGateKeeper··on Time Capsule for $25 (Using Raspbery Pi)
It's almost like he didn't have a tech literate editor to fix his fuckups.
TheGateKeeper··on Time Capsule for $25 (Using Raspbery Pi)
Buggy or no, Ext3 is still the better option for linux when doing network shares for other operating systems since it's pretty transparent anyways.
TheGateKeeper··on Crowding out OpenBSD
Given your anecdotes, what do they have to do with the statement you're quoting? It really seems out of context.
TheGateKeeper··on First robots have arrived in plan to replace 1 million Foxconn workers
Maybe not, but enough to keep their robots in repair and enough for themselves who own them to have a home/food of their own wouldn't go amiss.
TheGateKeeper··on Firestorm Erupts Over Virginia's Education Goals
So racist. Got it.
TheGateKeeper··on Nate Silver correctly called 50 out of 50 states
It's what's called a defect such as when a system doesn't perform as expected. Sorry. No amount of emotionally supported bullshit is going to change facts.
TheGateKeeper··on Nate Silver correctly called 50 out of 50 states
Phobia? Hardly. You don't call an ftp client and ssh client do you? Likewise you would and should never call a man a woman, unless you're tying to insult him and vice versa. It's called logic and not some ridiculous concept of accepting a mental disorder as something to be celebrated.
TheGateKeeper··on Nate Silver correctly called 50 out of 50 states
Self identification is a ridiculous concept if it's not based on fact. They put people in the nut house for proclaiming they're a farm animal or Teddy Roosevelt.
TheGateKeeper··on California attorney general sends privacy warnings to app makers
It's only an assault on those individuals and organizations that want to infringe on users privacy. I see absolutely nothing wrong with keeping the general public informed (mandatory) from predatory actions.
TheGateKeeper··on Anonymous Is Going After Zynga For Mistreating Employees
So releasing employees from their ahem employ is mistreatment? These kids need to stick their noses back in their schoolwork.
TheGateKeeper··on Jailbreaking now legal under DMCA for smartphones, but not tablets
I would say that's entirely reasonable. There's no reason to dump on more laws to try and enforce (and poorly I might add) already existing laws.
TheGateKeeper··on Violentacrez Did It All for ‘Meaningless Internet Points’ on Anderson Cooper
People have fought over meaningless things since the dawn of time. The crusades come to mind in that respect.
TheGateKeeper··on Getting weather via your command line
and for the automated, try this:

(echo "open rainmaker.wunderground.com";sleep 1;echo "\r";sleep 1;echo "nyc";sleep 1;echo "x";) | telnet

TheGateKeeper··on Google Homepage Size Over Time
You should be running your own in-house anyways.
TheGateKeeper··on IE10 won't run Flash unless website is whitelisted by Microsoft
That's the problem right there. Do you really need something more than an html/php/js/css web browser?!
TheGateKeeper··on IE10 won't run Flash unless website is whitelisted by Microsoft
If you want to talk about problems, let's talk about plugins themselves. They're horrible and should never have been created. Hell, even they were a response to horrible websites which browsers had to deal with. Anything short of proper browser development would of course necessitate having plugins for your browser.
TheGateKeeper··on Court rules book scanning is fair use, suggesting Google Books victory
As plane-Jane as can be sounds absolutely great for text piping etc.
TheGateKeeper··on Texas schools punish students who refuse to be tracked with microchips
> to stem the rampant truancy devastating the school's funding

So truancy is a part of lack of funding? There's something wrong with that picture. Texas needs to fix that issue before trying to act all fascist on their students.

TheGateKeeper··on The Ultimate Vim Distribution
If someone is actively trying to be a mitm and injecting things into your connection - you have far far worse problems than corrupted software.
TheGateKeeper··on Anvil - a Mac app for Pow
I for one think it's great you're doing updates quickly and often as things come up that warrant pushing updates in the first place. Keep up the good work. This looks like a nifty little tool!
TheGateKeeper··on Does Apple have a Scott Forstall problem?
What an insulting question. Of course I asked them - I'm not going to fire off that statement without checking with them.
TheGateKeeper··on Does Apple have a Scott Forstall problem?
> Maps, however, is crucial to most people that use an iPhone

Citation please. Nobody I know uses google maps, even when we travel (which is a lot).

TheGateKeeper··on US Military Classifies Wikileaks As 'Enemy Of The United States'
For people, yes. For government, it should be mandatory. The government's military? Sometimes.
TheGateKeeper··on Firefox turns 10 years old today (Phoenix v0.1)
I actually have a copy of that still.
TheGateKeeper··on 3D printer community revolting against Makerbot's new closed-source printer
since when is keeping something open source a 'moral' so-called "right"?
TheGateKeeper··on Show HN: Learned Objective C as a high schooler and made this iPhone game
You're claiming to be an "old guy here" and making video games in high-school?

wtf. that's not old. wait till you're in your 50s or 60s to call yourself old.

TheGateKeeper··on Notch on Steam, Windows 8, what's next
They won't. People have been saying it's the "year of the linux on the desktop" for everything big that comes along. All this will do is give more of those so-called and self proclaimed hardcore gamers incentive to switch, especially if nothing else is holding them back.
TheGateKeeper··on The UK has an entire IPv4 /8 that it isn't using
I'm currently enjoying its usage as well. Whoever said it was unused doesn't know what they're talking about.
TheGateKeeper··on The UK has an entire IPv4 /8 that it isn't using
You mean completely unstable and essentially useless? No thanks.
TheGateKeeper··on iPhone 5
Yeah I used to live in NYC and if you don't know the subways by heart, you really don't live there or haven't for very long. Not to detract from the fact the app isn't ready yet, but you don't need an app to get where you're going if you can read a placard that's literally at every subway. Anyone with any visual sense and literacy can figure it out.
