Ironically in reality this is actually pretty much the opposite of taxpayer protection and amounts to additional tax paid to private corporations on TOP of our existing taxes.

Could it be this one?
"Passengers were not allowed to leave the airplane because the Goose Bay Airport did not have a customs officer on duty during the overnight hours. Saturday bled into Sunday, and still the flight remained grounded."
Atlas is their only active humanoid platform, which they've stated is mainly a research platform just for the sake of advancing robotics and pushing the limits.
See! It's opt-in.
This is somewhere in between I think.
The compact dimension of the demonstrator engines make that kind of agile development possible--similar to the idea behind Boom's scale demonstrator.
My understanding of thermodynamics was routinely humbled by my coworkers. I remember one time rolling into the office in the morning to find my coworker twirling with excitement and saying something like "I had a realization at 3AM and came to the office and figured out my enthalpy problem!"
Working with your buddies to create a working engine from scratch that is unlike any engine that has ever been created before it is a real rush. I recommend it for anyone.
Here's a slo-mo video of combustion inside an LP engine. We bolted a thick piece of quartz onto the engine instead of one of the side pieces. https://vimeo.com/111796558
I don't think of this as a technology or expensive, though. They are somewhat pricey, but can be worn for many winters and thus have good value.
MSP airport is one of the few places I’ve seen coin lockers in America.
I think a lot of people here have an anxiety about the regrets they may have if their life were to suddenly become very finite. The article is the testament of a man coming to these realizations, and we are here to discuss the themes involved.
Just wait until prime members can overnight something from an Atlanta Whole Foods to an LA Whole Foods for 5 bucks. Then people will really forget how much it costs to ship things.
As a group of scientists wrote in 2007 [1]:
“The presence of a large reservoir of SARS-CoV-like viruses in horseshoe bats, together with the culture of eating exotic mammals in southern China, is a time bomb. The possibility of the reemergence of SARS and other novel viruses from animals or laboratories and therefore the need for preparedness should not be ignored”
Engineering for space is all about brutal trade-offs.
For instance: private air travel in USA. Find some friends with aligned lifestyles and together buy a high performance twin engine propeller passenger plane that seats 8 people for about 5 million.
There are agencies who will take care of all of the complexities of owning and operating this aircraft and renting it out while you’re not using it. With careful decision making you can bring the aircraft to close to net zero steady state operating cost as the revenue flights paying for maintenance, storage, liability etc. You also get access to a stream of excellent pilots on demand.
These agencies can also book you on a larger plane in their portfolio when you want to go further and for some reason aren’t willing/can’t fly first class commercial.
Real estate is much simpler—tons of fabulous rentals all over the world. And an assistant surely could be hired somewhere for 100k or less annually.
Massachusetts is about to embark on a project to renumber all of their exits per federal mandate. The consensus is that the only way they can take "exit 17"[1] from us is by lasering it out of our brains. I know people who are planning a guerilla renumbering campaign for this sign after it is harmonized.
