Sutanreyu··on Qwen-3.6-Plus is the first model to break 1T tokens processed in a day
...It's also 15 times larger.
Sutanreyu··on AI behavior guardrails should be public
It should mirror our general consensus as it is; the world in its current state; but should lean towards betterment, not merely neutral. At least, this is how public models will be aligned...
Sutanreyu··on Juno – A YouTube Client for Vision Pro
Needs VR video support. :)
Sutanreyu··on A new tool for finding dark matter digs up nothing
I don't think dark matter exists? Some part of me wants to really sit down and formulate the possibility of 'banding' in spacetime: where there may be discrete "steps" in its density -- similar to the interference patterns when particles travel through a medium. The interactions between these waves can, at times, cancel out, or even repel, as waves do when propagating through matter...?

I've also always wondered about how we account for the physical presence of the astronomical objects now versus the observed position of those objects as they were, since light has taken however long to reach us...

Sutanreyu··on DC sues Grubhub, claiming its app is full of hidden fees and jacked-up prices
That's the sort of sentiment that continues to allow companies to do this shite and drive up inflation. Vote. With. Your. Money. You might be okay with it because maybe you have the money to blow, but you're actually ruining it for others.
Sutanreyu··on If software engineering is in demand, why is it so hard to get a job?
Can I get a job? I've been on multiple stages of interviews, of which, some are 2+ hours of coding and even if it seems promising and that everyone's happy... I still end up getting looked over. Even programs like returnships that are specifically for people who've been out of the game for 1+ year, despite showing them that I can code and architect software... I'm still kept waiting and don't get in. I feeling pretty dispirited at this point.
Sutanreyu··on Eternal Change for No Energy: A Time Crystal Finally Made Real
So... Perpetual motion.
Sutanreyu··on Google adds Black-owned business label to product results
This is disgusting.
Sutanreyu··on Court says Uber can’t hold users to terms they probably didn’t read
Can we do the same thing with gyms?
Sutanreyu··on Introducing the next generation of Mac
Enjoy that while it lasts... Hackintoshes are going to be a dying breed in two years.
Sutanreyu··on Apple unveils M1, its first system-on-a-chip for portable Mac computers
No PCIe, meaning no eGPUs. How did they look past that?

Are there any M.2 slots in these or will they'll just be set in stone with the storage they have?

Sutanreyu··on Ask HN: How do you deal with professional envy?
You've got some internal, "spiritual" things you've got to sort out then. Be happy for them, learn from them, emulate what your identity allows. Otherwise, forget about it. You're not going to grow from envying people.

Sutanreyu··on Tesla researcher is 'excited' about new battery tech developed by the Army
The future is with solid-state batteries.
Sutanreyu··on Two senators say a $5B fine isn’t enough to punish Facebook
I've always wondered in cases like these what they actually DO with the money after they fine huge companies like this... As in, how would they remedy the damage? Would they use it to go after companies that made money off of people's personal data or make them develop better privacy features or what else?
Sutanreyu··on Living Wage Calculator
I checked the stats for my current city and I have to question just how their calculating their housing costs... It's not even close to what's actually on the market at the moment.
Sutanreyu··on Amazon Quits China Market
Should be obvious... Amazon has become a peddler of goods manufactured in China, at inflated prices. Why would they pay more for the things they can get cheaper locally?
Sutanreyu··on Open-plan offices reduce face-to-face interactions (2018)
It's because you see so many people that you want to retract a bit and not have to directly deal with them...
Sutanreyu··on Congress Is About to Ban the US Government from Offering Free Online Tax Filing
Can we not?
Sutanreyu··on Can a Person Learn While Sleeping?
I used to be able to do the same thing when I was younger; I'm 30 now. I wouldn't ever study growing up, wasting my waking time consuming content --stuff you can't dream up since it's made by others. I would essentially practice what I did know in my sleep (using 'lucid dreaming') being conscious while asleep, as you were. Needless to say this isn't healthy, as now I'm not able to be as conscious while asleep, or seemingly not dream at all, and I'm now a narcoleptic, as I was diagnosed years ago... Essentially asleep while awake, ironically. Something that's not in my favor when I need to get work done. The extra thinking time while your body rests was really nice, though.
Sutanreyu··on Starbucks' music is driving employees nuts
I remember going to a mall once and being in an altered state of mind... [Mainstream] music felt like something used to get people in an almost hypnotic state of ignorance, an acoustic bubble to encourage shopping, mingling... I don't know how to quite put a finger on it. It wasn't anything particularly negative, but it was the thought of it being some sort of mood manipulator, setting a scene for those who were well off enough to be a part of it.
Sutanreyu··on Running an LED in reverse could cool future computers
Cool! It's like an infrared light vacuum!
Sutanreyu··on We Lost Our Ability to Mend
Somewhat ironic this comes in a day after I sewed a hole in the armpit of a tee shirt I like. Doesn't really vibe with the target audience of a site like 'Hacker News'...
Sutanreyu··on An economist thinks US is bankrupt: What it means for retirement
Trust, in an economic sense, is how much material is being dedicated towards a corporation's future existence... A corporation can be an individual, or a company of individuals...
