Maybe it'd be better if central banks weren't given exact targets? Say targeting inflation at, say, 1-5% would be better.
What helps me is reminding myself to just start coding _something_ small and very very simple, however imperfect. If I didn't I would concoct hugely scalable and secure architectures and systems in my head. I would go on and on like this for hours and possibly days. It would only really stop when I came up with another idea for a project.
Twitter/Facebook/Netflix etc etc weren't built from scratch like we see them today; they evolved from imperfect, probably insecure, probably slow, probably unmaintainable code.
Just try to write something and take it from there.
I think lots a "techy" people experience this so don't beat yourself up and I'd be interested to hear what others do.

I was living and working in London (big drinking culture) for about 10-12 years. Mostly just a few beers each night with work friends. After a while I had to have a few beers at night even when not out with work.
This slowly progressed up to a 4 pack, then a 4 pack and a glass of wine, then a 4 pack and half a bottle of wine etc etc, then beers at lunch, and before I knew it I couldn't go without drink for very long.
It was only when I started finding it harder to focus and forgetting really simple and recent stuff that I started to worry. I'd lost so much to drinking (driving license, girlfriend, friends, money, jobs) but it was when it started to affect my basic cognition that I took action. It was very scary, my brain is what pays my bills.
After nearly 2 years completely sober I'd say I'm about 90% back mentally, but I've realised so many more benefits. Brilliant relationships, loads more money, I laugh more, I eat better, sleep better......it's fucking BRILLIANT!!!
Please find the help you need sooner rather than later. You can turn things around and it's totally worth it.
I'm 41 and sober this year!
Still no complaints with it at all. Solid specs, all hardware works (with some sounds blips every now and then), decent build quality, decent price.
It's really positive that you seem to have recognised some patterns and that you have a desire to quit for good. It's also good that you don't seem to be physically dependant on it after your weekend 12 packs.
What worked for me after ~8 years of increasingly deep alcoholism that started with weekend bingeing, ~2 years of trying to get sober, and now 18 months clean was two simple things:
1. Accountability of some sort. For me it was to my mother, but it could be to anyone or anything. Just someone or something you respect or that you hold dear.
2. A simple therapist. My therapist is a general therapist, not a specialised addiction counsellor. I'd tried AA, SMART, and 2 stints in rehab...nothing stuck until I just started talking to a therapist. Just talking, and slowly but surely breaking down my thought processes around life/love/relationships/work etc and I started to truly and fundamentally understand myself better and why I was drinking. Then is was so much easier to not pick up a drink. It's the best £50/week I've ever spent and I still go weekly.
Anyways, every one is different and that's just what worked for me, I wish you the absolute best. You've got this!
He also doesn't (as the article suggests) manage SpaceX or Tesla etc. The day to day management is delegated to those who are experts at management.
His title at SpaceX is Chief Engineer and his title at Tesla is Product Architect.
Gmail's UI doesn't do the actual deleting of email, it just instructs the email server to delete it.
However, I have no idea how the email servers behind that are actually configured. I wouldn't be surprised if emails are actually just hidden or archived but they'll "look" like they've been deleted.
Hope this helps.
Not only do they offer all the products I could need (Switches, AP's, Routers....) but their products are well positioned for the enthusiast...super configurable without the "enterprise" price tag.
Similar to MicroTik.
You clearly are talented so stop telling yourself that.
Have you thought about starting your own security consultancy?
