S33V··on Decreased CO2 during breathwork: emergence of altered states of consciousness
The one time I see surfing mentioned on HN and of course HN squeezes out the most nerdy take on surfing possible
S33V··on Stoop Coffee: A simple idea transformed my neighborhood
i've walked past y'all on many occasions and thought how cool it was! I had no idea there was such a large group of you :) I'll have to swing by and say hi sometime
S33V··on Give Up GitHub
google will almost certainly be acquiring gitlab
S33V··on Hezbollah pager explosions kill several people in Lebanon
if someone next to you in a supermarket was wounded from an explosive like the video shows, do you think perplexed and completely unharmed would be a good description for your experience? Maybe we saw different videos, but it's pretty hard to make such a generalized statement from a few seconds of video.
S33V··on Boxed – Things I learned after lying in an MRI machine for 30 hours
I've tried plenty of ear plugs for sleep, loud environments, and concerts. I'd stay clear of anything that's clearing putting most of the money into marketing like loop and talk to a audiologist or someone in the music industry. I ended up getting mine from "1of1 custom"[1] based on some research and references. They're a bit pricey, but based on the amount of loud environments I'm in they're literally life savers. I pair it with a sound level app made by NIOSH to let me know when I should put them in at bars/concerts.

S33V··on Show HN: An extension to track your Wikipedia adventures
I'm not entirely familiar with tangled trees, but it seems like one of the larger differences is that a tangled tree isn't necessarily acrylic. For this example, someone could navigate away from one page, but potentially be linked back to it later down the adventure.
S33V··on Pinball Map: Crowd-sourced worldwide map of public pinball machines
I don't think it works that well at very small zoom scales (larger than a small state). I'm seeing a few machines here locally in San Francisco
S33V··on No-more-secrets: recreate the decryption effect seen in the 1992 movie Sneakers

S33V··on Twitter labels NPR's account as 'state-affiliated media', which is untrue
Here's Twitter's documentation on how they identify state-affiliated media[1]. This excerpt makes the decision seem outside of the defined process:

State-affiliated media is defined as outlets where the state exercises control
over editorial content through financial resources, direct or indirect
political pressures, and/or control over production and distribution. Accounts
belonging to state-affiliated media entities, their editors-in-chief, and/or
their prominent staff may be labeled.

State-financed media organizations with editorial independence, like the BBC
in the UK for example, are not defined as state-affiliated media for the
  purposes of this policy.

S33V··on Crispy Doom
I find it slightly weird that a product that's characterized by its attention to resolution and crispiness has no images/video or obvious links to such in their README.
S33V··on My indoor rowing tips after 15M meters
Curious, what split are you going for your daily 2k? In college, I was doing semiregular 2k tests, and I could never imagine trying to uphold a regular schedule of them.
S33V··on A worker owned (co-op) store for sustainable products
Looks like the free tier tickets are sold out, but the wording on the page makes it seem like there shouldn't be any gating from signing up on the free level.

Please let me know if it opens up again!

S33V··on Global chip shortage threatens production of laptops, smartphones and more
I just got home from waiting for a 3080, got there over an hour before opening, and they still ran out before I could get one. This is something like >3 mo after release.
S33V··on The Laptev Sea hasn't frozen
Are you insinuating that these ships are a driving force in inhibiting the formation of ice, that the lack of ice will be beneficial to these routes, or some other thought that I'm not seeing?
S33V··on Show HN: Kinopio.club – visual thinking, brainstorming tool
By the way I love the product :)
S33V··on Show HN: Kinopio.club – visual thinking, brainstorming tool
I might be a dummy, but if I create a card with a checkbox and nothing else I can't seem to edit it. Is this a bug?
S33V··on Tesla Model Y Road Trip Review: a no-compromise electric SUV
What are some good, unbiased reviews of the Model Y? Other than Doug DeMuro(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAXDcTH6hPw), every other YouTube reviewer I've found has some stake in Tesla or is a Tesla/EV fanboy.
S33V··on Quibi reportedly lost 90 percent of early users after their free trials expired
Interesting, thanks!
S33V··on Whose Land – Indigenous Nations of North America
I agree, I do think it is disingenuous to make a blanket statement on Native American's knowledge of land ownership and border establishment. I was merely interpreting what the original comment said.

Given your points, is there a more correct way to define the lands once inhabited by Native peoples?

S33V··on Whose Land – Indigenous Nations of North America
Is there any way to refute a flagging? I think the original comment spawned some great conversation which relies on it being visible.
S33V··on Whose Land – Indigenous Nations of North America
I'd concur, a colorblind approach would have detrimental effects to indigenous people. Colorblindness leads to ignorance and turns a blind eye to the past when working for a fair future. There's a great journal article on this exact subject:

Fryberg, S. A., & Stephens, N. M. (2010). When the world is colorblind, American Indians are invisible. Psychological Inquiry, 21, 115-119. doi: 10.1080/1047840X.2010.483847

S33V··on Whose Land – Indigenous Nations of North America
Not the original commenter, but what I'm taking from it is that the notion of land ownership was/is foreign to indigenous people. Given that, using the term native land can be misrepresenting native history. I'm not sure what the alternative verbiage would be to describe an area has inhabited by an indigenous tribe. Urban Native Era, a pretty large Native movement/brand, holds the slogan "You Are On Native Land" and I believe they are holding themselves to a pretty high standard of racial sensitivity.
S33V··on Quibi reportedly lost 90 percent of early users after their free trials expired
Do you have a source with that? Based off of the majority of my family members it seems like that would be the opposite. I wouldn't be surprised that there's a correlation between tech-savvy individuals and those who cancel straight to subscription trials right away.
S33V··on U.S. Supreme Court deems half of Oklahoma a Native American reservation
I find it amusing that you hold a blanket thought that the theft of Native American land was the result of war games and not a mixture of deception, racism, genocide, breach of trust, and thievery.
S33V··on The coronavirus pandemic isn’t ending – it’s surging
Backing your argument up a sourceless source doesn't help
S33V··on Dark Horse Discord
Wasn't there post on here just a few days ago about how Discord exactly does that? pretend to support end to end encryption? Someone created their own discord client and found that VOIP packets were being decrypted by discord in between clients
S33V··on Google reveals fistful of flaws in Apple's iMessage app

S33V··on [dead]

S33V··on Launch HN: Cloosiv (YC S19) – Order ahead from local coffee shops
Believe it or not, a lot of people see going to coffee shops as a social experience. My SO works at a Starbucks and the amount of people that come in on a daily basis just to get human contact is very surprising.
S33V··on Show HN: Design your own thin wallet
This is a really awesome product, I'm going to see if I can make some room to get one. Great job
