RoryH··on One of the world’s most visited websites that nobody is aware of (2017)
How much time did this guy save people by providing the content quickly and easily to users? I say fair game to Vladimir for his innovation.
RoryH··on Tesla’s response to getting maps updates over LTE or service center WiFi
Can here to suggest this ;-)

RoryH··on The Fixing-JSON Conversation
I think now is a good time to re-quote the man himself... Douglas Crockford..

https://plus.google.com/+DouglasCrockfordEsq/posts/RK8qyGVaG...

I removed comments from JSON because I saw people were using them to hold parsing directives, a practice which would have destroyed interoperability. I know that the lack of comments makes some people sad, but it shouldn't.

Suppose you are using JSON to keep configuration files, which you would like to annotate. Go ahead and insert all the comments you like. Then pipe it through JSMin before handing it to your JSON parser.
RoryH··on AWS S3 Outage
"Elevated Error rates" probably does not qualify as breach of their SLA
RoryH··on Show HN: My SSH server knows who you are
Eh, I only forward my github ssh key to the host github.com so you don't know who I am ;-)
RoryH··on Device Metrics
That data in API format would be nicer ;-)
RoryH··on Ask HN: Company got acquired, new contract seems oppressive
If you're good enough at your job and the company values you then don't sign... What are they going to do. Surely your existing contract should still stand.
RoryH··on Ask HN: Why USB drives are still using the FAT32 format?
I traditionally use exFat to go between Windows and OSX seamlessly, however I recently had to reformat to FAT32 to use it in a Sony DVD player
RoryH··on WEB DEVELOPER (DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES)
Same shit different country (Ireland)... this is very much an international problem, and the reason why software is a good career choice IMO.

RoryH··on Real Life MMO FPS
How long before some law enforcement officer shoots somebody thinking they are holding a real gun?
RoryH··on Australia bans reporting of multi-nation corruption case
Might the lack of reporting also be Rupert Murdoch related?
RoryH··on Google Co-Founders on Healthcare: “Thanks, But No Thanks”
Brin's partner co-founded https://www.23andme.com/ and that got it's nose cut off by the FDA IIRC.
RoryH··on Show HN: Faster access to Google hangouts

RoryH··on Hydra: A lightweight OS X window manager with a powerful API
Thanks!
RoryH··on Human data shows how we move in cities
I see also in Dublin, some naughty person had their phone on in an aeroplane :-) You can see the path of the plane landing and taxiing to/from the terminal
RoryH··on Nokia's New Homescreen Replacement App for Android
Lack of support for rooted devices probably rules out a whole lot of potential first-adoptors
RoryH··on How can an introvert Asian engineer like me make friends?

RoryH··on Ask HN: The best way to find remote job
Once you can do the job that's all that matters.

RoryH··on Only 90s Web Developers Remember This
Everytime I see Geocities mentioned I feel sad as I could never find my old Geocities site, I tried searching through the archives. All I remember is I was in SiliconValley/Lakes after that I'm stumped.
RoryH··on Nokia acquired by Microsoft
I had the 7650 in 2004. It had third party apps and I believe it was the first camera phone also. I was a die-hard Nokia fan, even purchasing a full-price N97 before jumping ship to Android in 2010
RoryH··on Google has lowered the price of the Nexus 4 by $100
The One still has the bs hardware buttons. Nothing is ever vanilla Android these days with hardware buttons IMO.
