Compute shaders in particular are a huge feature that GL4.1 doesn't have.
That unfortunately breaks games using UE4 and Unity. And causes issues with distorted and invisible enemies in Witcher 3. And missing effects in Overwatch. You get the idea, those feature are unfortunately pretty common.
It's D3D9 to OpenGL, and it's open source and called ToGL. On Linux you can also opt in to use DXVK by using a launch parameter.
There are missing features for older versions too:
- bufferRobustness2 - geometry shaders - transform feedback - tessellation is super but very slow and problematic
Geometry shaders and transform feedback are terrible features that most GPU vendors would like to get rid of because they don't map well to modern hardware. But games do use them and everyone who isn't Apple has to maintain backwards compatibility. So it's unlikely that those will ever get supported in Metal. You could probably emulate them with varying levels of compatibility/conformance which might be good enough for a lot of games.
Such as? There's pretty much no problem that isn't solved better by a solution that doesn't involve a blockchain.
It's not the fault of the OS.
They already have that.
Those guys have absolutely no clue what they're talking about and just make bullshit click bait.
Climate change is well researched. A lot of predictions made about it in the 80s and 90s were only off because the reality is much worse.
> Humans will adapt to the earth’s conditions
It's tough to adapt to drastically lower crop yield and a huge reduction in fertile soil. Water will be a big problem too.
> If places become uninhabitable, then humans will migrate elsewhere as we always have.
In Europe we've struggled with that when it's on the scale of millions. With climate change we're potentially looking at billions of refuges.
Ignoring the problem and saying "eh we'll manage" is just about the worst thing we could do.
Seriously?
Safari is fast but compatibility is lacking, not just compared to Chrome.
Qualcomm has been trying to catch up to Apple ever since the Apple A7. I don't think they'll manage to do it but I'd love to be wrong. They are probably catch up to the M1 when the successor or even the successor of that one is available.
And why would software rendering be fast on the M1?
