That may unfairly impact people who already cannot afford to live close to where the jobs are.
One possible reason. I remember talking to a tech who worked for a company that made information kiosks. The kiosks ran Windows, but on a Mac Mini. He told me the reason was they had less hardware failures when they used them.

This is just outside of your time range but Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty came out in 2001, and predicted much of this.
The main example of this pertains to the plot and themes of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, released on November 13, 2001, which delved into ideas and concepts that would become culturally significant in the 2010s. Among these themes were post-truth politics, alternative facts, echo-chambers, fake news, AI-curated news feeds, information overload in the Information Age, and political correctness.[140] While the game received universal acclaim upon release for its gameplay and attention to detail, the plot became a divisive topic among critics, with some calling it "absurd" and "stupid".

I'm never the person holding up a meeting while trying to find that important document in some SharePoint maze.
I [...] don't [...] like [...] helping a stranger.
That's not very nice. The world would be a better place if we helped strangers more.Premise:
"The Forgotten City is a narrative-driven time loop adventure in ancient Rome. Discover the ruins of an ancient underground city, travel 2000 years into the past, and unravel the mystery of who destroyed it by cleverly exploiting the power to wind back time. The fate of the city is in your hands."
Developer comment on historical authenticity:
"In terms of historical authenticity, we engaged two historical consultants: Dr. Philip Matyszak, who has a D.Phil from Oxford and teaches at Cambridge, and has written 17 books on the ancient world. And Dr. Sophie Hay, who has spent 20 years excavating the ruins of Pompeii. Dr Matyszak helped us to create a game world with historically authentic art, architecture, costumes and customs. And Dr Hay helped out with a comprehensive review, ensuring our architecture and art was consistent with her observations of Pompeii, which was preserved in a very similar time period. We spent over 20 months on this and exchanged 300+ emails and did video flythroughs."
There are some. III and AA come to mind.
It looks like Red might not actually do this.
