Because it will change the way you see the relationship between humans and animals.
I think that if your goal is to solve problems, leverage what you already know. If your goal is to be more employable and improve at your craft, learning new languages should help you.
I think you missed the point the parent was making. No one is forcing you to eat refined carbohydrates. People conflate carbohydrates with "refined carbohydrates" and end up thinking that eating a bowl of brow rice, lentils and veggies will make you diabetic because "carbs".
Because life is short.
Most maintenance time is spent outside because we have a couple of acres, an orchard and we enjoy gardening. But there was nothing stopping us from getting a house without acreage in the same area.
One thing that has improved, maintenance-wise, is snow removal. In our suburban home I used to spend 40-60 minutes removing snow from the driveway. Now we have a bigger driveway, but it's very affordable to get a professional snow removal guy to come with a plower and take care of it in 5 minutes. I started to enjoy winters much more after moving. Plus the white winter scenery here is much better than the muddy winter in the suburbs.
The quality of life has improved considerably. We are always surrounded by trees, water and wildlife. The downside is that my tolerance for the big city has quickly vanished. We went to Toronto for a few days and the noise, traffic and busyness made me really stressed and we had to cut our trip short.
I have also bought many products from other businesses that have made my life better. In most instances, I have only become aware of these products because these businesses have spent money on ad campaigns.
Pros: - Cheaper than most places in Ontario. We live in a great house that would cost at least 3x more in any GTA suburb. - Lots of nature and places to explore all around us. - Peaceful and quiet. - Good balance between country living and convenience - high speed internet, natural gas, amazon delivery, big box stores.
Cons: - More snow in the winter (which can be good if you're into winter sports) - Limited number of ethnic restaurants. - 2 hours away from an international airport.
The killer feature for me is being able to add stuff to our family grocery list. It's so much better than opening an app, swiping around and typing on a tiny keyboard.
Once you get used to doing things via voice it's hard to go back.
You must be referring to a whole food plant-based diet, which has been shown effective in the prevention and reversal of heart disease[1][2].
