PascLeRasc··on Twilio confirms data breach after hackers leak 33M Authy user phone numbers
Twilio has an incentive to make "the spirit of 2FA" worse, because SMS-only is how they make money. Either OTP 2FA will be more complicated and adopted less, or they'll own the entire space, like in Sendgrid's case.

PascLeRasc··on YouTube addiction, one month sober
Same thing with the ads every 5 minutes always interrupting a complex part of the woodworking video I'm half watching. Thanks for the reminder to focus on real work, State Farm.
PascLeRasc··on Mozilla Monitor Plus: automatically remove your personal info from data brokers
Discover bank also offers something like this for free, but I can't tell if it's as capable as other services. https://www.discover.com/security/online-privacy-protection/
PascLeRasc··on Mozilla Monitor Plus: automatically remove your personal info from data brokers
That's because this is actually a data validation service for brokers. Most of their data is junk or incomplete, but now they know which pieces belong to actual people who want to pay money for it to be deleted.
PascLeRasc··on Cloudflare employee posts layoff call with HR and goes viral [video]
Correct, it's important to be meek and roll over to make it in sales.
PascLeRasc··on Spot Bitcoin ETF receives official approval from the SEC
You don't seem as curious as you say you'd be, framing all criticism as hostility or simple antagonism. I don't think you've considered what you're missing not trying to understand why people don't care about bitcoin.
PascLeRasc··on Is my plane a 737 MAX?
Zero people died because the site went up.
PascLeRasc··on Is my plane a 737 MAX?
Airlines famously never make mistakes that happen to also sell more tickets.
PascLeRasc··on Is my plane a 737 MAX?
I was hoping this website would tell me how to identify a 737 Max from the inside or from my gate. Trust but verify.
PascLeRasc··on Fastmail Employees Form a Union
I'd bet a lot of money that it's around a new on-call requirement with no pay increase that no one will put their name on promoting but managers are seeing appear on their all-manager meeting agenda.
PascLeRasc··on Ask HN: Which Wireless Carriers Protect Against SIM Swapping & Port-Out Attacks?
I use Ting because it’s the only provider other than Fi that offers TOTP 2FA without SMS fallback. They wrote about their SIM swap policies here: https://help.ting.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360030105653-...

PascLeRasc··on Nicotine (2016)
There needs to be a term for this mindset where people won't entertain a thought or idea unless there's a study proving that thought is correct in all cases. I can guarantee the person you responded to is a weightlifter.
PascLeRasc··on Windows 11 Update 23H2 is stealing users' IMAP credentials
New Outlook also fails at its second job for me, it won’t fetch email unless it’s the active window.

Two. Those particular ads are so intrusive and annoying that I never finish a video. I’d like to figure out a way to youtube-dl just by clicking the video link.
PascLeRasc··on Reasons to fight cashless contagion
And let me use some kind of TOTP to pay with it, then whoever's issuing the card doesn't need to have a crazy amount of insurance against stolen cards.
PascLeRasc··on Reflections on quitting my job
If the author's reading, thanks for writing this. I'm also about to turn 30 and dreaming about quitting my job so I can rediscover the joy of programming. Very interested in hearing about any plans you've made.
PascLeRasc··on I applied to 250 jobs and timed how long each one took
Also, anyone know a way to automate undoing the all-capsing Workday does with resume data? Sometimes the data makes it to the correct field but it might as well not since I need to retype the whole thing anyway.
PascLeRasc··on I applied to 250 jobs and timed how long each one took
Very likely going to be zero. The only way I can get a chance at a phone screen is to spend at least an hour crafting my resume and cover letter for each position.
PascLeRasc··on iCloud Drive silently deletes your content
Your advice is valid if you are an employee at a cloud service. If I was better at managing hard drives than Dropbox and Apple, my job applications wouldn’t be rejected.
