NotEvil··on Nix 2.24 is vulnerable to (remote) privilege escalation
That's not a patch. It's just downgrades the nix version to 23 in nixpkgs.

It doesn't help people who are already using the vulnerable version and also new users cuz installers install latest versions

NotEvil··on Small asteroid to hit Earth's atmosphere today
Not a astrophysicist but I would guess it's due to atmospheric drag. Higher velocity objects will burn more quickly
NotEvil··on Towards Federated Key Transparency
Sorry, but which part of security. User can't pretend to be another registered user. They won't have the private keys.

What am I missing.

NotEvil··on Hacker confirms access through infostealer infection [withdrawn]
The problem isn't the employee or the hiring process. It's the security infrastructure! One compromised account, supposedly from sales, shouldn't bring down the whole company.
NotEvil··on Please don't share our links on Mastodon
The idea has been discussed. The main problem is that Mastodon is a zero-trust environment, and we can't trust the other server to send us the correct preview.

And with the law. We whould have a backdoor in tls. And HTTPS will be meaningless
NotEvil··on WebRTC-HTTP ingestion protocol (WHIP)
Question, Why encryption after quic. Well I know that quic 8s not adopted yet. But let's say if it does do we need the encryption provided inside webrtc. And whouldn't that be redundant. Spatially considering the whole point of RTC is to get a stream of data from one point to other as fast as possible.
NotEvil··on India Semiconductor Mission
The point is not to produce semiconductor that goes against the likes of TSMC but to decoupe the supply lines for critical application (military, governments) from one source. The same reason they and every other country is building a gps replacement
NotEvil··on Android in Docker without QEMU/emulator
Not all linux kernel leak to host. Docker security is way better than nefore. And there also projects like podman and docker unprivileged that don't require any root intraction to set up a kernel
NotEvil··on Ask HN: What kind of online tools are you using, missing or can be improved?
Try https://kinopio.club

NotEvil··on Mozilla publishes position paper on the EU Digital Identity Framework
