Where in the car? Unplug /sever the antennas.
NDizzle··on Enhancement of mosquito trapping efficiency using pulse width modulated LEDs
Rural Arkansas, Mosquito HQ checking in.

Dynatraps. Tougher than Toms TNT bait. Gotta have it all out there and ready to go when the season gets started - you don't want to fall behind.

You can also plant things to attract barn swallows and the like, but then you have to deal with them dive bombing you every time you go outside anywhere near their nests.

NDizzle··on Older mouse brains rejuvenated by protein found in young blood
Yep. Keeps one of the many conspiracy theories about the Clintons in the front of my brain.

NDizzle··on U.S. prison labor programs violate fundamental human rights, new report finds
If the US split up prisoners by race, only then could you compare it to Scandinavian prisons.

But then we'd have a different article, talking about yet a different injustice.

NDizzle··on Farmland practices are driving bird population decline across Europe
Ah yes, more guidance from Europe about getting rid of farms to save birds and stuff.

Let's do that, and instead get rid of people. Cut exports, that's what everyone wants, right?

It was a serious apple and required a plan.

NDizzle··on Heat pump disappointment for climate-minded Massachusetts state senator
My weather person can't even predict what Thursday is going to do. You want accurate predictions for all of winter? That's why I mentioned solar. It's the same, but with sunlight.
NDizzle··on Heat pump disappointment for climate-minded Massachusetts state senator
No, it works exactly like solar does. The companies say one thing, but reality doesn't match up. It doesn't matter how careful an installation is.

NDizzle··on Starlink internet is going from rural savior to unreliable luxury
They should gear it towards rural only.. If it's profitable at the moment?

That's what is frustrating me about T-Mobile 5g home internet. I'm rural, work from home, and maintain 3 ISPs (with the proper load balancing network gear to support all of this) to deal with it. People in town are installing directional antennas, pointing towards my rural tower, and using 5G home internet, affecting my speeds, when they have cable/fiber options in town to choose from.

Also, I mean, sure, I'd love fiber ran out this way. Would you like to run fiber about 12 miles to service less than 50 people, with about 20 offshoots to homes off the main road.. increasing the overall distance and trenching by who-knows-how-far?! It's not exactly a thrilling business plan.

NDizzle··on Stellantis CEO: There may not be enough raw materials to electrify globe

NDizzle··on Scratch is the world’s largest coding community for children
Great questions, and good timing. My daughter asked about learning "line programming" instead of "block programming" yesterday.

Finally, out of 3 kids one is interested! Now what do I do?! Python, I'm assuming, but following what curriculum?

NDizzle··on The EV Transition Is Harder Than Anyone Thinks
How is it misleading? It seems to be a standard measurement for vehicles that can move via both gas engines and electric motors.

It gets around 42 mpg when running purely on the gas engine. Based on the distance I have traveled and the amount that I have used the gas engine, it works out to 172 miles per actual gallon used.

MPGe is what you would refer to for your fully electric car.

NDizzle··on The EV Transition Is Harder Than Anyone Thinks
I have a '17 second gen that I'll be selling within the next 3 years. 60k miles on it right now. Gotta sell it before it has a $20k boat anchor on board. Unless something happens and I get the battery replaced under warranty for some reason, then I'll continue using it.

Lifetime 172 mpg over 60,000 miles!
