Mythbusters··on Releasing Windows 8 - August 1, 2012
What is more relevant to the hackers here is that the marketplace is accepting apps now.

Mythbusters··on Google Indefinitely Delays the Nexus Q After Poor Reviews
It makes Google look amateurish to announce a product with big fanfare and to cancel it later admitting that it does not do much... executive powerplays at work I guess...
Mythbusters··on The Story of Steve Jobs: An Inspiration or a Cautionary Tale?
Exactly because the dictatorial aspect can as much backfire as it can succeed. Remember Jobs had his fair share of successes and failures, its that the successes were mostly accumulated up towards the recent part of his life thus making him look more successful than he probably was.
Mythbusters··on An Amazon Education
I think it was targeted towards the people who work in the warehouses not necessarily highly paid technical staff aiming to do their MS or MBA. Still $2000 is paltry as compared to what Google and Microsoft, other major tech employers in the area, offer.
Mythbusters··on But You Did Not Persuade Me
Don't disagree with the power of persuasion but the approach of expecting you to be persuaded is flawed I think. It makes the other person responsible for expressing his/her point effectively enough that you understand the importance of it. Tech industry particularly is rife with people who are extraordinary developers but very poor communicators. People like these are highly at disadvantage with the "persuade me" stance. I think if you are the decision maker, higher authority then it is your responsibility to have the insight to see the value of the point being made and not really hope to be nagged like a toddler into making a decision.
Mythbusters··on Passing Pointers
I think the point being made here is only valid when you just move the data around and don't alter it. filepicker is a perfect example where you pass the data around without actually touching it and such a usage is a perfect case for passing the "pointers" around. In most other cases, you'd want to pull it down the moment you are going to transform it.
Mythbusters··on "therefore, starting now, waffles are now $450.00 each"
It really looks like they sold dreams to the poor business and the business was too busy to really understand the terms and consequences of the deal. May be Groupon took advantage of the gullible business or maybe they were they were too dreamy eyed but ultimately the party that suffered was the small business and I think they should have done the due diligence of validating what the modus operandi was for Groupon.
Mythbusters··on A new vehicle interface
I think its a personal choice whether you prefer a lot of information there or little. I liked the design for it "metro" look.
Mythbusters··on Microsoft explains Windows 8 Store: Free 7-Day Trial, lower pay-cuts and more
These kind of apps tend to be free though. There might be paid version available but for most a cheaper and usable version is either already there or would soon replace the paid version for most users.
Mythbusters··on Office 2013: Microsoft's bid to win the future
If you are a light user of office then you can always use the web based version of word\excel etc.
Mythbusters··on Android sales "trouncing" Apple since release of iPhone 4
Apple's UI and app centric approach is showing its age for sure. With Android Google has shown that it can take chances with the UI. Android UI has eveolved much more in last 4 years as compared to Apple's.

Of course Windows Phone though the most beautiful OS of the three is well behind these two.

Mythbusters··on Apple is back on EPEAT
>> Apple's one of the greenest, if not by far the greenest, manufacturers in the world. Can you name any tech manufacturers that are better

I take it that you love to live in Apple's reality distortion field?

EPEAT's website has all the details you need: http://ww2.epeat.net/searchoptions.aspx

Mythbusters··on Why Publishing on the Windows Phone is Like Walking Barefoot On Broken Glass
Windows Phone 8: Gaining Apps, Software Developer Support: http://www.thevarguy.com/2012/07/12/windows-phone-8-apps-mob...
Mythbusters··on Why Publishing on the Windows Phone is Like Walking Barefoot On Broken Glass
It took android a couple of years after it was launched to actually take off...
Mythbusters··on Why Publishing on the Windows Phone is Like Walking Barefoot On Broken Glass
the Windows Phone platform is going through some churn. With the new Windows 8, apps can share the marketplace so you can target the Windows installed base with your apps too. If you have already spent efforts developing the app, leaving it there seems worth it.
Mythbusters··on The iPad's 'Ultimate Typing Accessory' Is A Dud
That makes the whole keyboard cover for Surface really interesting. Microsoft has made keyboards for many years though so I am hoping that they are aware of possible problems and hopefully will be able to avoid it.
Mythbusters··on City of San Francisco Will No Longer Buy Apple Products
So you don't really get it do you? It's not just about recycling its about reuse. I can buy a used laptop and a new battery and I have a good usable laptop. I don't need to purchase a new one. That's where the dismantling helps.
Mythbusters··on City of San Francisco Will No Longer Buy Apple Products
yeah good riddance I say. For each SF city that decides to not buy Apple product, many more iFans like me will some forward in support and buy more. What do I care if the product is bad for the environment? It looks shiny and expensive and makes me look cool.
Mythbusters··on Windows 8 Available in October
the start button is still available but its on the left side now (or on the keyboard where it has always been) The only difference I see as a desktop user is a startling experience where the new "start menu" takes up my whole screen instead of taking lower left corner. Other than that there is nothing that really annoyed me to the extent of being horrified. What particularly you think that is horrifying?
Mythbusters··on Windows 8 Pro Upgrade to cost $39.99
You put point upgrades and significant in the same sentence. Just saying...
Mythbusters··on Report: Blizzard Banning Diablo III Players For Using Linux
Sad how the headline is just an attention grabber.
Mythbusters··on Windows 8 Pro Upgrade to cost $39.99
The experience you described regarding upgrade is grossly outdated. Have you upgraded recently? The transfer wizard (forgot the actual name) does such as awesome job of moving your data to new OS that I have seen even the cookies persist after OS upgrade without me having to do any tweaking.
Mythbusters··on Windows 8 Pro Upgrade to cost $39.99
Who said anything about Windows 7 being adopted quickly? I was calling out the wrong information that OP was spreading about many people not having left XP.
Mythbusters··on Windows 8 Pro Upgrade to cost $39.99
Wrong. Just in time: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1045_3-57464649/windows-7-on-major...
Mythbusters··on Windows 8 Pro Upgrade to cost $39.99
PC market as viewed separate from tablet market is not experience much growth but when combined, they are growing. Don't forget that Microsoft is targeting the tablet market with this release as well.
Mythbusters··on Apple Quietly Pulls Claims of Virus Immunity
Whoever introduced computers to these folks probably wasn't careful to tell them what to be careful about. As long as people mess with the local computer, it's possible to recover (in most cases) But being on the internet is whole other thing.

I wouldn't necessarily blame Microsoft here. If anything, I feel much more comfortable letting my dad use windows 7. Microsoft massively improved their Security record after a few embarrassing incidents with Windows XP.

My only message to my dad was: as long as you don't download anything, it's relatively easy to stay away from viruses.

Mythbusters··on This page crashes Internet Explorer, even version 9 and 10.
It does not crash the IE build that came with the RC of windows 8. So probably all the comments and the page should use a past tense?
Mythbusters··on Announcing Windows Phone 8
And why do you think its not?
Mythbusters··on Microsoft Introduces New "Surface" Tablet
sample size of 1.
Mythbusters··on Microsoft Introduces New "Surface" Tablet
What it will offer though is a full compatibility to existing windows application. People might be ready to lose a few hours of battery life for that.
