M8··on Coding Boot Camp Enrollment Soars as Students Seek Tech Jobs
Sometimes there is just a surplus of people. Besides, 50% of graduates being hireable sounds just about right.
M8··on Why millenials move
Broke and unhirable.
M8··on 84-Year-Old Volunteer Rebuilds and Sends Linux Laptops to Africa
Linux? Don't you think that's cruel - they have suffered enough!
M8··on A venture capital firm says it invests in people “pre-idea, pre-team”
Just as afraid to invest as any other VC/acc/angels in London. This is why it's not a Silicon Valley. I mean how are you even supposed to rent a fancy office in the center of London?
M8··on A venture capital firm says it invests in people “pre-idea, pre-team”
The 30-year-old with a PhD in neuroscience from Cambridge University plans to set his “media-truth-detector” loose on what he calls Russian propaganda, mostly against his native Ukraine.

Unfeasible and uninvestable, but good if you want to get an EU grant I guess. Who is even the target market? Meanwhile just follow all russian, ukrainian and western media sources and compare them.

M8··on How Estonia became a leader in technology
It's a form of it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism#Ethnic_nationalism
M8··on How Estonia became a leader in technology
What is "white"? Why do you need do differentiate "Estonians" from other kinds of people?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism#Ethnic_nationalism

There is a history of racism in Estonia:

M8··on Facebook Go
Maybe Facebook engineers like generics? Regardless, I think Facebook is capable enough to create it's own language as well.
M8··on How Estonia became a leader in technology
That is racism.
M8··on The Life of Joseph Stalin's Daughter
It's not like there was a reason:

M8··on Branson announces one year paid paternity leave for 0.2% of his employees
This is funny in a sad way:

"One example from Facebook: complimentary egg freezing packages, valued up to $30,000."

M8··on PolyConf 2015 – A multi-disciplinary conference for polyglot programmers
I wish I could just use C#, but unfortunately there is no way to avoid JavaScript these days.
M8··on PolyConf 2015 – A multi-disciplinary conference for polyglot programmers
For instance?
M8··on PolyConf 2015 – A multi-disciplinary conference for polyglot programmers
It's not in Poland, it's in European Union. What is the problem?
M8··on Google: 90% of our engineers use the software you wrote (Homebrew), but...
Sundar Pinchai got promoted though.
M8··on “Technology widens existing disparities”
Furthermore some tech like Facebook and Twitter can be "weaponized" to ruin entire previously stable economies.
M8··on Ask HN: How to deal with the tedium of programming?
"...I have never used any of the new client side frameworks like AngularJS..."

You have just saved a considerable amount of time and nerves. Not only will they fundamentally change it in version 2.0, they are going to use a different language - TypeScript flavour.

M8··on Atlassian Connect for Bitbucket
Any Atlassian guys reading this: could you please take a more active role in Visual Studio extension maintenance?

https://bitbucket.org/lmn/visualhg2/wiki/Home

http://visualhg.codeplex.com/

It's kind of demotivating to see all action happening in github-land.

PS: I am not a paying customer at the moment.

M8··on Ask HN: How to deal with the tedium of programming?
People look at e.g. Node.js and think it's a "new" "technology" or even in some cases "platform". In reality it's a well-known Reactor Pattern with some package management running on a not-very-slow virtual machine using exclusively a weakly typed dynamic language which takes years to update with features.
M8··on How Google Got Design
Would've been much more impressive had it been released before Metro GUI.
M8··on What Did Bohr Do at Los Alamos?
"On one occasion, subjects proceeded across a busy intersection against the red light in a diagonal fashion, taking the longest route possible and one of greatest danger. The resourceful work of Agent Maiers in blocking out one half of the stream of automobile traffic with his car..."

It's both funny and sad (totalitarian spying state, where spies are allowed to break laws).

M8··on WinJS: The Windows Library for JavaScript
I meant C# is awesome so you just use it directly :).
M8··on Software Is Eating the Job Market
There is a shortage of experienced engineers willing to work for an entry-level salary. Also there is "change your job for this fantastic opportunity - we gonna give you a 10% raise max".

Somehow nobody is discussing a shortage of CEOs... Maybe because they are compensated fairly?

M8··on WinJS: The Windows Library for JavaScript
It's not subjective. JS is only relevant due to ubiquity. Nobody transpiles to C#. (well, except for Haxe - to nitpick, but it also transpiles to Java and C++).
M8··on The Making of Lemmings
There was a good cloned game about pigs on mobile recently...
M8··on Android Migration
It's funny how they are trying to suggest that getting same apps isn't going to be a problem :).
M8··on Firefox OS on Android Devices
And still doesn't. Who could expect Google to start funding Mozilla?
M8··on Developer Preview: Interstellar Module System
I wonder how space start-ups will be called in future now that words like "stellar" and "terraforming" are taken. Refactoring.org for asteroid mining? Recursive.net for solar system cargo transport?
M8··on How my father gave me a terrifying lesson at 10
Appreciating living in a first world country.
M8··on How my father gave me a terrifying lesson at 10
If you want to give your kids a lesson today, you can simply take them to the factory where their iPhones are manufactured. Although lack of geographical proximity will make it easier to forget.
