LibertyBeta··on Cosmic: The Road to Alpha
I cannot wait. This looks so nice.
LibertyBeta··on Fish – A friendly interactive shell
Same story here. But I recently moved to Tide prompt. It's pure fish and really amazingly fast.
LibertyBeta··on You can't reach the brain through the ears
I feel like we should make a comment here about you're not in the sudor's wheel.
LibertyBeta··on Omg.lol – A lovable web page and email address
See, I don't get this. Last time I tried fastmail I ended up on proton because it was just slightly... Kludgy. DNS was slow. Webmail was a mess. And the mobile client scene wasn't worth it.

That said, the billing side wasn't bad.

LibertyBeta··on Briar: Peer-to-Peer Encrypted Messaging
I want to like Brair, but I have yet to find any one who does use it. Which is a shame, really.
LibertyBeta··on Over 16k people still use a Pebble smartwatch
The Forerunner 255 fits that bill. Or the other cheaper Forerunners. The Fenix line is more akin to the iPhone Pro Max.
LibertyBeta··on Bringing passkeys to Android and Chrome
That makes sense. I do worry we are starting to build key chains that are leveraged obliquely to the user.

Once passkey support comes to bitwarden I'll be a little more comfortable I think.

LibertyBeta··on Bringing passkeys to Android and Chrome
Interesting. I'm still struggling to see how this is better than just using a yubi/solo-key
LibertyBeta··on Tillitis Key – Mullvad spin-off inspired by measured boot and DICE
So Solokey V2. Not that I'm complaining by the way. Any open competition to yubikey is a win in my book.
LibertyBeta··on Short story about my Steam Deck
Mine just died with a faulty Left Bumper switch. I'm hoping Steam will RMA it or send me a replacement board.

Cause like the poster, it's the best way to play my PS2 game collection.

LibertyBeta··on Rumor: Google Stadia May Be Getting Shut Down
If this is the case, what about their Wifi locked controllers? No way to free them I expect, just instant e-waste.
LibertyBeta··on Exposing a web service with Cloudflare Tunnel
Do you have any guides on the same level as simplicity as this one? It seems while we always bring up wireguard, its a big topic with few good places to get hand hold on.
LibertyBeta··on Telegram founder says over 70M new users joined during Facebook outage
Wonder what the retention and falloff rates will be.
LibertyBeta··on Ploopy: open hardware trackballs and mouse
I was going to buy the Mini Trackball, but.... the bearing structure just isn't it for me. Between using single direction bearings with PLA pins to the possible grinding its just a little to much work ATM. Oh, and direct screwing into PLA always worries me.

The big one however has these mods in the community so that's awesome.

LibertyBeta··on Implement window.{alert, prompt, confirm} removal from cross-origin iframes
They never left the B2B and corporate world.
LibertyBeta··on Immediate skin-to-skin contact with unstable newborns improves survival chances
Who charges? We just had our second and they didn't charge at all. Gave the nurses/midwives a chance to make more ready.....

And this was at Major CT Hospital.

LibertyBeta··on TikTok launching jobs service for Gen Z
Good idea, wrong company to fund it.
LibertyBeta··on Calibre – E-Book Management
Wait, I didn't know they where the same person. Neat.
LibertyBeta··on Musicolet – Offline Music Player for Android
Honest question, why kit just get a DAP like one of the Higby, FiiO, Shanking, or Xduoo devices?
LibertyBeta··on PinePhone – Beta Edition Linux SmartPhone Preorder
I really want to grab one, if nothing else to take part, but man I just don't have the funds for a Gen 1. Maybe Gen 2.
LibertyBeta··on Tell HN: We launched Solo v2 – open security key
Backed at the Early Bird level. Been waiting for the V2 go launch. Can't wait to see what's next.

Quick question: which do y'all foresee as likely to be more popular, the USB-C or that awesome reversible USB-A?

LibertyBeta··on Show HN: I made an alarm clock
They're likely a little swamped with the Pico launch.
LibertyBeta··on Our experience with the Fediverse, and why we left
But does it have a flagship instance like Mastodon.social.
LibertyBeta··on Fitbit is now officially part of Google
Sure thing! The forerunner 45s is the cheaper option in the forerunner lineup, BUT it doesn't have standard lugs.

There is also the Venu and Vivoactive lines with touch screens, but their battery isn't nearly as good as anything in forerunner's camp.

LibertyBeta··on Fitbit is now officially part of Google
The Garmin Forerunner 45/245 might fit that bill. I'm wearing one right now and only notice it because its riding up on my wrist from my sweater.

And as a bit of a metric nerd the Garmin data exports rock.

Oh, and I haven't charged it in over a week.

LibertyBeta··on Poll: Will you take the Covid vaccine?
As soon as possible. I've got a bicuspid heart valve, and while its in good shape, I really want to stop having to worry about suddenly needing to replace it.
LibertyBeta··on Pine64 November Update: KDE PinePhone CE and a Peek into the Future
This makes me hopeful we'll see an improved PineTab....
LibertyBeta··on Why not use GraphQL?
I don't get the love/want for GraphQL clients. Sure they are nice to get started but like ORMs they are needed until you hit a certain level of Team/Project scale.

That said it's good to see a counterpoint to the GraphQL push. With gql, gRPC, etc, it's a great time to be working with APIs.

LibertyBeta··on Termux is an Android terminal emulator and Linux environment app with no rooting
But what's the battery usage? And handling meshing? why not just use Syncthing?
LibertyBeta··on Analogue Duo: FPGA Based TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine Clone
The DMG/GBA/GBC hacking community is oddly dedicated.
