LdSGSgvupDV··on YouTube is banning anti-vaccine activists and blocking all anti-vaccine content
To simplify the question. Do we like to allow the social media to take parts of the position from court?
LdSGSgvupDV··on Windows 11: Just say no
We should stop hitting our heads against the wall. Instead, the wall would automatically hit our heads.
LdSGSgvupDV··on Ex-Googlers raise $40M to democratize natural-language AI
And "AI".
LdSGSgvupDV··on Climate activist arrested after ProtonMail provided his IP address
I try to sign up a protonmail through tor with brave browser at 2021/09/06. Everything goes well until last step.

LdSGSgvupDV··on Apple’s device surveillance plan is a threat to user privacy – and press freedom
It seems like big techs are taking the place of court in some domains. They draw the lines and execute the rules. Even more, it is almost impossible to know where are the real lower and upper bound of rules. There are already some examples (e.g. app is banned for unknown/vague reasons).
LdSGSgvupDV··on Machine learning won't solve natural language understanding
Is there anyone's GPT-3 testing alerting?
LdSGSgvupDV··on Police can get your data – even if you aren’t suspected of a crime
Are there any services that add a layer on top of google/apple/... services for encryption? Something like put a veracrypt/whatever container in google drive and use another open source web as entrance or bundle these services (google/apple/...) as encrypted ceph cluster which means every company only owns part of the encrypted data.

Another approach, host your data in full disk encryption (LUKS/...) in open source services (NextCloud/... you could find awesome self-hosted services on github) and put the password into a RAM USB with UPS. It could be sealed forever by turning off the power of RAM USB. The only problem here is that there is no commercial RAM USB.

LdSGSgvupDV··on A better business model for video folks
What we need might be the decentralized search engine.
LdSGSgvupDV··on I do not agree with Github's use of copyrighted code as training for Copilot
I have a question. How to define the AI? In an extreme case, could I say copy-paste is the AI if I implement it in hundreds of thousands of NN layers and it output piece of the origin work (e.g. 30s of music from 3mins with small modification).
LdSGSgvupDV··on GitHub Copilot is not infringing copyright
Yap. Some of them are mirrors uploaded by unknown/non-official uploaders.

I guest next step github would require cell phone to sign up to make sure who you are and get the rights to profit.

LdSGSgvupDV··on Ask HN: Notion is withholding my company data, what can I do?

LdSGSgvupDV··on Ask HN: Notion is withholding my company data, what can I do?
That's why I become a software engineer. I would like to host the services and use cloud as backup.

Right now, the only thing bothers me is the email service. For a selfhosted email service, there might be some problems.

For example, I would like to sign up FB by my custom domain email address, but after roughly two days they treat me as bot and ask for cellphone which I don't want to give them. Because there is no way to delete the cellphone later. The function on their setting is not working. Even if you deleted the cellphone on setting page, you could still get targeted AD by hashed cellphone information. It seems like they use hashed information as the way to against user deleting.

LdSGSgvupDV··on Japan's government plans to encourage 4-day workweek, but experts split
I kept wondering that when we are child it's almost impossible to study 8 hours a day all the time. Why should/could we work 8 hours as adult?
LdSGSgvupDV··on Survey shows people no longer believe working hard will lead to a better life
But, be born into US is already 5%. Maybe not top 5%.
LdSGSgvupDV··on Apple is threatening to remove Fanhouse unless they give 30% of creator earning
Not so arbitrary. If you are big and in the market Apple is not interested in, you are safe. Once Apple wants to step into that market, you should be careful (ex: spotify).
LdSGSgvupDV··on iOS 15 Humane
Unexpected surprise is the reason I still stuck to Win10 1803 lol.
LdSGSgvupDV··on Nano is green, Bitcoin is not green
According to the intuition of law of thermodynamics, I wonder there is really green when demands keep growing with growing population and growing countries from developing to developed.
LdSGSgvupDV··on Tech giants join call for funding U.S. chip production
It would only help with 10nm+. I don't think throwing the money into the industry could solve the shortage of 10nm-. The real problem is lack of top 20% engineers in this industry. The salary for hardware engineer is uncompetitive with software engineer in US.
LdSGSgvupDV··on Game developers sharing their salaries on Twitter
High divorce rates are quite common in developed country, but high cost may depend on countries I supposed.
LdSGSgvupDV··on Writing books is not really a good idea

LdSGSgvupDV··on Gravity is a double copy of other forces
If I understood it right,

force = vector under specific coordinate system with physical source

isn't a force = vector + properties in specific coordinate system produce some kind of force-like phenomenon

LdSGSgvupDV··on TSMC sees chip shortage lasting into 2022
Probably, Apple, AMD, and NVIDIA would pay for 3nm instead of 5nm. Apple may be the first one to use 3nm. If it gets lots of gain, there would be lots of followers.
LdSGSgvupDV··on School custodian refuses to download app that monitors location, got her fired
> why I don't have Slack on my phone and how do I keep in touch with work outside of the office.

I always ask why should I keep in touch with work during my private time. If it is really important, one could call my phone. If one does not bother to find my phone number, that means it is not urgent at all.

LdSGSgvupDV··on Docker without Docker
Another point of view would be the kernel version. If your service depends on different kernel version. It might be good to have a docker-like VM which could create by Dockerfile <- this is good for CI/CD.

But in general case, their target should be the security.

LdSGSgvupDV··on Twitch will ban users for 'severe misconduct' that occurs away from its site
It seems like that the companies are trying to avoid the lawsuit. Let say our freedom of speech is X. In tradition, we have X<LAW. Right now, we get X<COMPANY<COMPANY<...<LAW which would definitely narrow down when the company chain increases.
LdSGSgvupDV··on Small, cheap spy satellites mean there’s no hiding place
It would be extremely expensive for storing such huge number of data. Is this really doable? I think there must be some physical limitation.
LdSGSgvupDV··on Why the Wuhan lab leak theory shouldn't be dismissed
Of course not. You could not take the goods from China, and want to make them take the responsibility of investigation just like re-education camps in Xinjiang. Although there are some people or photos pointing out the issues.

It's lack of motivation for us to boycott the China. They are too far away from our live. We may take it serious until the nuclear submarine appearing offshore.

We don't know the New Appeasement would come out with real peace or WWIII. The deaths caused by CoVid are already more than the number of American killed in WWII.

The discussion is good, but we are not ready to face the issues come up with China. It's helpful for the labs in other countries to have new SOP. However, the problem is still there.
