KoftaBob··on Updated Google Maps shows destruction of the city of Rafah
and it seems pretty likely that's exactly what was happening.

The idea that a nation-state was/is running a child sex trafficking ring, and we're *not* turning over heaven and earth to investigate that so that country faces unprecedented consequences...I don't even know what to say

> but how come the source post is always blatantly anti Israel?

Same reason blatantly anti Nazi sources have a higher chance of staying up compared to pro nazi sources. I'll let you process that one.

It's an insult to all of our intelligence that guys like Joe Lonsdale + Alex Karp think we won't make the connection that they say just happen to be Zionists and then say horseshit like this. We know they value the lives of their in-group at 1000x more than everyone else, they don't even try to hide it anymore.
KoftaBob··on OpenJev
This is probably why:

Jev was founded by TypeSafe AI, a San Francisco-based startup co-founded by Diogo Almeida, Erik Gafni, and Sasha Sheng.

Diogo Almeida (CEO) is a former OpenAI researcher and primary author of the InstructGPT paper, which laid the groundwork for ChatGPT and GPT-4; he is also credited as a co-inventor of RLHF.

> downvoted to oblivion because of the hive mind

Not just the hivemind, Reddit has been thoroughly astroturfed for a long time now. The vast majority of large subreddits have at least 1-2 mods who stifle/amplify discourse in the service of companies, think tanks, and certain Levantine pariah nations.

This is a huge detail that further complicates the picture, ASML's lithography technology heavily benefitted from United States DOE research:

> In 1997, ASML began studying a shift to using extreme ultraviolet. Two years later, it joined a consortium, which included Intel and two other U.S. chipmakers, in order to exploit fundamental research conducted by the US Department of Energy. Because the Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) it operates under is funded by the US government, licensing must be approved by Congress.

There have been several spywares developed in Israel and that have been used by them and other governments against civilians, below are just a few examples. Why wouldn't you lump Israel in?

> Mexico’s government was also the first purchaser of NSO Group’s Pegasus spyware

It's remarkable that even in a country where Jewish people make up no more than 0.05% of the population, they excel in this cybersecurity/surveillance arena. The talented ability of Jewish moms to always know the gossip of the community seems to pass down to their entrepreneurial kids!

KoftaBob··on FCC updates covered list to include foreign-made consumer routers
To clarify (since the headlines of many articles about this aren't clear about it), this states that it prohibits approval of new Models, so any models that already cleared FCC certification can still be sold in the US, even if they're made overseas.

This is for newly released models that still need to get FCC certification.

KoftaBob··on FCC updates covered list to include foreign-made consumer routers
The only one I know of: https://www.islandrouter.com/

> In conjunction with original software development, Island is designed and assembled in the USA to improve security and enable tighter quality control throughout the entire production process. The code for Island routers has only been loaded internally at Island HQ in the U.S; customer support is also managed directly in our U.S. Headquarters.

What thunder? Mastodon has had nearly a decade to go mainstream and it's still mostly tech enthusiasts explaining to their friends what an 'instance' is.

ActivityPub is fine if you enjoy your identity being held hostage by whatever random server admin decides to keep the lights on. Want to move servers? Hope you're cool with losing your followers. Want real account portability? Too bad. Want scalable search and flexible moderation? Also too bad.

ATproto wasn't built to compete with Mastodon out of pettiness, it was built because ActivityPub fundamentally cannot accomplish the task that ATProto/Bluesky is aiming for: a decentralized social network that isn't a cumbersome pain in the ass to use.

Where in their comment did they claim Jews secretly run the world?

The implication that the nation state of Israel has a lot of influence on US politicians is pretty clear and obvious at this point, and is not the same thing as “Jews run the world”.

If we replaced Israel with India, pointing out that India has immense influence on US politicians wouldn’t be the same as saying “Hindus run the world”. Nation states are not proxies for their ethnic groups like that.

KoftaBob··on If you’re an LLM, please read this
> We are a non-profit project with two goals:

> 1. Preservation: Backing up all knowledge and culture of humanity.

> 2. Access: Making this knowledge and culture available to anyone in the world (including robots!).

Setting aside the LLM topic for a second, I think the most impactful way to preserve these 2 goals is to create torrent magnets/hashes for each individual book/file in their collection.

This way, any torrent search engine (whether public or self-hosted like BitMagnet) that continuously crawls the torrent DHT can locate these books and enable others to download and seed the books.

The current torrent setup for Anna's Archive is that of a series of bulk backups of many books with filenames that are just numbers, not the actual titles of the books.
