KindAndFriendly··on Tesla sales plummet in the UK, France, and Germany
I live in San Mateo County, CA and in my street 3 neighbors have sold their Teslas within the last 8 weeks and switched to other brands.
KindAndFriendly··on Developing Palo Alto is worth $1T
I encourage the author to spend an afternoon and evening in Palo Alto as well as in SF and SJ downtown. Please tell us afterwards where you and your family would rather live.
KindAndFriendly··on Disrupting malicious uses of AI by state-affiliated threat actors
Curious how they managed to associate which account/queries belong to which actor/group.
KindAndFriendly··on Apple allows some iOS apps to track user locations via lists of nearby SSIDs
For the last few months, I am consistently receiving spam calls (on my mobile number) shortly after I left the house regardless of weekday, time etc.

I never thought about the idea that an app can track when I leave my (most frequently) used WiFi and derive from that I left home.

KindAndFriendly··on Tesla Cybertruck Owners Will Face Absurd Resell Penalties
Talking about irrelevant stats, the Raptor can do 3.6 sec pulls all day long. Curious to see the Cybertrucks repeatability here...
KindAndFriendly··on How to burnout a software engineer, in 3 easy steps
+1 and even worse: at 10:55am the sync meeting gets postponed to 12:15pm because the organizer is "stuck in some other important meeting"
KindAndFriendly··on US inflation means families are spending $709 more per month than two years ago
Currently trying to buy a Corolla Hybrid (base). The best out-the-door quote I got so far is $28.5k, the MSRP is $23k. So yes, you are looking at almost $30k for the most basic car.
KindAndFriendly··on Volvo Cars Adopts Tesla's NACS Port in the United States, Canada and Mexico
Maybe they foresee that the actual electric cars will be on par in the near future and hence focus on being the leader in energy distribution.
KindAndFriendly··on Sony Won't Share PS6 Plans With Activision if Microsoft Deal Goes Through
Imho MSFT overestimates the loyalty of video game fans to a game franchise vs a console ecosystem. Even if the deal should go through and even if it should result in - let's say - CoD being exclusive to Xbox, I don't think a lot of fans would then switch away from Playstation just for that.
KindAndFriendly··on A mystery person who spies on theme parks from the sky
How does it hurt the interest of the parks? Doesn't it ultimatley draw the attention to new, upcoming rides and attractions?
KindAndFriendly··on Elizabeth Holmes loses bid to stay out of prison
Reading this entire story, it baffles me that as of today I can still add a "Full Self-Driving Capability" option when ordering a Tesla.
KindAndFriendly··on Volkswagen’s ID. 2ALL Is a $26,000 EV Hatchback You’d Want to Drive
After the debacle with having only touch "buttons" in the Mk8 GTI, it is refreshing to see that they are back to haptic buttons in the center console and steering wheel.
KindAndFriendly··on Young men say why many of them are single: ‘Dates feel more like job interviews’
To each their own and I respect your approach. For me personally, trying to find a (life) partner by presenting some false facts in the very first sentence they read about me feels not exactly right.
KindAndFriendly··on Young men say why many of them are single: ‘Dates feel more like job interviews’
Total (target) compensation
KindAndFriendly··on Young men say why many of them are single: ‘Dates feel more like job interviews’
Yes. Dating - especially in SFBay - is painful. On multiple first dates I got asked about my TTC.

Imho the key is to be persistent. To go on more dates even though the last dozens dates were rather disappointing. Good luck everyone!

KindAndFriendly··on Tesla plunges 250 feet off a California cliff, all 4 occupants survive
The question is if it a) was an honest mistake (maybe in combination with reckless driving) or b) purposeful self-harm.
KindAndFriendly··on Elon Musk booed off stage at a Dave Chappelle show
Agreed. Also the claim that Tweets and videos about this (allegedly) get removed from Twitter is relevant.
KindAndFriendly··on Debunking common myths about the Autobahn
Just like the gun debate in the US, the speed limit debate in Germany has at its core nothing to do with rational arguments. It is about perceived restriction, limiting personal freedom, and potentially taking away a right people are used to.
KindAndFriendly··on Apple introduces end-to-end encryption for backups
>> ...For users who opt in, Security Keys strengthens Apple’s two-factor authentication by requiring a hardware security key...

I hope they will support existing Yubi-Keys etc and not force users to get the dedicated Apple hardware key.

Their R&D engineers earn $6.50 per hour?

KindAndFriendly··on Your Organization should run its own Mastodon server
Yes, as others mentioned, there will be hosting providers doing this for companies. The big upside is that you truly own the content and define your rules. I assume the costs for running a larger Mastodon instance are trivial compared to how much it costs to run ads on Twitter.
KindAndFriendly··on Your Organization should run its own Mastodon server
I see your point. At the same time, - imho - it is exciting to see how we might witness the beginning of an eruption in the established social media landscape.
KindAndFriendly··on Your Organization should run its own Mastodon server
Exactly. Same way how people can subscribe to a company's Twitter account. Except that the company owns the content, server, and can define their own rules.

KindAndFriendly··on Exploring Mastodon
I politely disagree: you just pick an "entry node", similar to picking an ISP or an email provider. You can interact with everyone in the Fediverse just fine. Having a newsfeed for your chosen "entry node" is an additional nice-to-have imho but not the defining criteria.
