JudasGoat··on How one patient found errors in the algorithm making transplant decisions
At a recent physical, my doctor informed me that "according to the drug company's algorithm" I should begin taking a cholesterol reducing drug. I had to wonder about the transparency of such an approach.

JudasGoat··on Emissions are no longer following the worst case scenario
My cannabis plants flower with 15 to 20% yield improvement and no abnormalities at 1500ppm CO2. Edit One of the side effects of CO2 infusion ironically, is tolerance of higher temperatures.

JudasGoat··on Unlaunching the 12GB 4080
Although there have been a lot of negative reviews regarding the value of the 12gb 4080. I wonder if it could be more of a response to what AMD is planning to release shortly? I don't recall Nvidia backtracking in the past because of bad press.
JudasGoat··on The Best iPhone
As someone in the same situation, I plan on keepng the SE as a music player after it loses support.
JudasGoat··on A new carbon capture plant will pull 36k tons of CO2 from the air each year
"What's the cheapest Carbon Capture system we can imagine - $100 per tonne?" Considering that I pay around a dollar a pound for bottled CO2 for horticultural use and commercial CO2 is produced from methane. Someone could get fairly wealthy getting paid for removing CO2 from the atmosphere and selling the "undesirable" product for a profit.
JudasGoat··on Data Leak Provides a Look into China's Brutal Camp System
I watched a recent YouTube video from ADVChina where Winston explains that situation with the fonts. He disproves the theory that traditional Chinese is being used in the document. It is a fairly long explanation but the gist of it is that some simplified Chinese fonts bear more of a resemblence to traditional Chinese.
JudasGoat··on Israeli balloon tipped as first affordable, scalable method for carbon capture
As someone that purchases CO2 for horticulture, I agree. I believe methane is presenly used for commercial production.
JudasGoat··on Tell HN: China Is Entering Lockdown
While I agree with your statement. If you look at the present condition of medical facilities in Hong Kong, and imagine that situation reaching 1.4 billion people in a relatively short time. Also these people unlike many Westerner's probably don't have anti bodies from previous Covid-19 infections.
JudasGoat··on Inside Putin's Circle
"Putin surrounded himself with yes men." This is an interesting article from an alledged fsb employee that backs that statement. https://noteplan.co/n/3D073DDB-CB0F-4ABC-BC93-01A94141445B
JudasGoat··on M-427 Russian online/offline encryption device reportedly seized in Ukraine
One of the pictures show a rotary dial phone. Presumably what this interfaces with.
JudasGoat··on Car Models with the Most DUIs
As someone that lives in Massachusetts. The trucks make sense. Most everyone knows that the insurance surcharges from an OUI aren't applied to commercial registrations. So it is a way to beat the surcharge.
JudasGoat··on Fire extinguished at Ukraine nuclear power plant, Europe's largest
"From the Russian perspective, taking out Ukraine's power is strategic and demoralizing." It would seem to me as though the Russians are living in a glass house when it comes to energy sabotage. The map of Russian petroleum pipelines going through Ukraine is substantial.
JudasGoat··on Why are semi trucks in the US and Europe so different? (2018)
" drivers prefer conventional trucks, the ride better, largely handle better, and are safer for the driver." I drove truck in the 90's and the joke back then was "cabover driver's were the first to arrive at the scene of an accident".
JudasGoat··on Letter from Union Pacific to LA District Attorney re: train thefts, safety [pdf]
I used to "find" scrap metal in the rail yards. The only real tool the railroads have to prevent theft is to enforce trespassing laws.
JudasGoat··on Trudeau Plays Dangerous Game Demanding U.S. Truckers Have Shots
I think that Countries are having a tough time keeping up with the Pandemic. An Omicron infection seems to offer better protection than vaccination at this point. I think if they were being honest, antibody tests would be more valuable than vaccination status. I say this as someone that is both vaccinated and boosted.
JudasGoat··on Scientists believed Covid leaked from Wuhan lab, but feared debate could hurt
Somewhat telling that you need a "throwaway" to point that out...
JudasGoat··on Xiaomi cellphones can censor searches: NCC
I bought my Pixel 4a specifically because it wasn't made in China (Vietnam). I would have considered upgrading to the 6 if it were made somewhere else. I also was considering a Google Titan security key until I learned they were made in China, too.
JudasGoat··on Evidence for a mouse origin of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant
Personally, I would like to see more investigation into the multiple mutations and which variant that Omicron evolved from. I find it plausible that a capable party could have engineered and released a milder variant, presumably to help end this pandemic. I say this as someone with no knowledge of natural viral evolution. It just seems peculiar to me that Omicron was not a variant of the presently circulating strain, at the time.
JudasGoat··on Yesterday the FBI signed its first public contract with Clearview AI
On Clearview's website they state they have 3 billion facial images scraped from the web. That seems to be a low cost of entry to accomplish the same level of service. I am a bit surprised that the FBI wouldn't have a similar database.
JudasGoat··on How Chinese Police Hunt Overseas Critics with Advanced Tech
To be honest, my experience is that criticizing the Chinese Government on platforms such as Twitter or YouTube will quickly cause you to be "shadow banned". It would seem to make this "hunt for critics" unnecessary.
