HeadsUpHigh··on The problem with Bitcoin miners
The value of bitcoin needs to increase more than x2 indefinitely for the power consumption to increase.
HeadsUpHigh··on Belarus referendum approves proposal to renounce non-nuclear status
Naive to assume they gave up all of them. If I was them I'd have a nice little dirty bomb stashed in some major Russian city right now.
HeadsUpHigh··on Toxic culture is driving the great resignation
Any excuse to not pay more.
HeadsUpHigh··on Bitcoin mining is being banned in countries across the globe
Boring bear market is great. Now there are a ton more things to do. Maybe we'll finally get some proper value deals off defi coins.

Reading through the comments here is pretty entertaining too.
HeadsUpHigh··on Solar-powered aircraft flown for nearly three weeks without landing
Yea let's not serve an area because their only option could potentially overcharge them! Completely ignoring the fact that you can't define an overcharge without alternative options. Current sat internet is orders of magnitude more expensive for a much worse service. Starlink is literally breaking monopolies and your worry is that it's going to be a monopoly itself.

The extra money is probably needed to make the whole thing viable. SpaceX probably has a goal price for consumer plans and they are just trying to hit that price.

Regardless I just don't see SpaceX as the company that doesn't evolve with times tbh.

HeadsUpHigh··on Steam bans all blockchain and NFT games on its platform
No one is buying NFTs expecting copyright ownership right now, that's just the nonsense people who are out of it think. There are NFTs that provide copyright with the purchase but that's optional. For now they are an alternative way to directly pay artists. An interesting idea that is gaining traction within the photographing community are people NFTing their photos and releasing them via CC when they are sold. If you buy the nft you get to fund the artist and this collectible has value afterwards.

Usually the more scummy ones you see are limited piece PFP collections with rarity traits etc. The OGs( cryptopunks) where interesting as the first NFTs to be ever made but the current churn is just hype. Besides that the more artistic generative collections like the art blocks curated are interesting. Most of the big pieces are in the collections of people that have no intention to ever sell them. Some are experimenting with online galleries of shorts.

Basically throughout the whole hype bubble with nonsensical projects( crypto is the definition of fuck around and find out) there are some who are exploring some cool artistic stuff. Personally I never understood high art so I'm staying out of it.

Also don't get caught up on the prices, these are priced in Eth, not $$. Eth was $80 a couple years ago and a few cents when it launched( and yes I do know people who have held eth since way back then). When something appreciates so fast it makes sense that some people are more willing to spend it in such ways.

Or you can think of it as HTF trading firms subsidizing 20-60ms internet for the common user. The last couple ms probably mean nothing to you but they mean a lot to them. I guess it depends on what your world view is.

Boats also have critical systems such as engines that need maintenance and despite that break often. Esp. on a sailboat, there's nothing more important than the engine and these are usually cooled by salt water.
HeadsUpHigh··on Lumber crash leads to 'blowout' sales as prices crater
Your point of reference for a commodity should be the amount of money the buyers who need the commodity have.
HeadsUpHigh··on Moderna Is About to Begin Trials for HIV Vaccine
Back when I was a freshman in medicine studying immune responses this kind of personalized medicine was my wet dream. This was less than 10 years ago. This is incredible how fast it's moving.
HeadsUpHigh··on Legal expert says Tether and Binance Coin are likely picks for SEC lawsuit
There exist algo stablecoins too though.
HeadsUpHigh··on Remove left turns for less dangerous city traffic
I live close to a place that has only roundabouts and zero intersections. It's just terrible. Very easy to congest and once the congestion reaches the previous roundabout it's game over. Everything stops.
HeadsUpHigh··on The NFT market bubble has popped?
The idea is to not have your money lose half its value on a daily basis. Or to have relatives send you money from abroad. There doesn't need to be an endgame, it just fulfils a need of these people.
HeadsUpHigh··on $365B wiped off cryptocurrency market after Tesla stops accepting Bitcoin
10% with the current market cap would put him among the top 10 richest people in the world... I highly doubt these numbers are accurate.
HeadsUpHigh··on Tesla Makes More Money Trading Bitcoin Than Selling Cars
Good thing crypto has done it's cycles before without Musk. The market doesn't need anyone to grow.
HeadsUpHigh··on $365B wiped off cryptocurrency market after Tesla stops accepting Bitcoin
There's ~100m eth so your numbers are way off. I have a sneaky suspicion you don't really know what you are talking about.
HeadsUpHigh··on $365B wiped off cryptocurrency market after Tesla stops accepting Bitcoin
It's fascinating watching the narratives unfold and affecting the price. Bitcoin is the bad guy today, until bitcoin holders just buy up the new liquidity and it starts going up again. Then the narrative will change again.
HeadsUpHigh··on $365B wiped off cryptocurrency market after Tesla stops accepting Bitcoin
Retailer frenzy on top of a new technology alien enough that people don't understand it. If you think these coins are all there is, just wait until you see the thousands of meme coins that never took off.

Also keep in mind that these coins crash with very small amounts of money. The liquidity just isn't there.

HeadsUpHigh··on $365B wiped off cryptocurrency market after Tesla stops accepting Bitcoin
Just keep in mind that those who move to the coins that pump during a dump tend to put stop losses. So these coins end up dumping harder later on.

HeadsUpHigh··on There’s no place for expensive laptops with 8GB of RAM anymore
I am yet to see an Electron app do something that wasn't already done by some older app before it with less lag. All I've seen so far are various flavors of the same basic chat/conference features in slightly different pricing models. Or apps that exist just for the sake of claiming something has a native app( while being just a wrap around the website).
HeadsUpHigh··on What is Chia cryptocurrency and why is it bad news for hard drives?
The level of ignorance and yet strength of belief here is astounding
HeadsUpHigh··on What is Chia cryptocurrency and why is it bad news for hard drives?
That's the weirdest take on why blockchain doesn't work I've seen so far. The entire point of these projects is that people do whatever they want with them. Monero exists if you want a purist approach and so does ergo.
HeadsUpHigh··on What is Chia cryptocurrency and why is it bad news for hard drives?
That you for proving their point.
HeadsUpHigh··on The Landlord's Game
So tax inheritance?
HeadsUpHigh··on Nassim Taleb: Bitcoin failed as a currency and became a speculative ponzi scheme
I agree with you to a large extend. Defi will deflate a lot when the bull run is over. Although I've heard of people taking crypto loans to buy houses and being vert happy with the experience so there might be some actual utility in it already.

Overall unless I see real world usage of the networks and people buying stuff with the tokens, using dapps to build portfolios etc I firmly believe that we are in the very early stages of crypto.

HeadsUpHigh··on Nassim Taleb: Bitcoin failed as a currency and became a speculative ponzi scheme
I think it is unlikely that crypto in it's current form will become the defacto money. Maybe we'll get the kind of anonymity that monero has or parts of it or corporations that anonymize transactions for a fee( think of it like how a public ip doesn't correspond to an address in a way).
HeadsUpHigh··on Nassim Taleb: Bitcoin failed as a currency and became a speculative ponzi scheme
I don't think you can judge something that is the first of it's kind for technical failures. The most genius part of btc is the halving cycles that draw an ever increasing amount of attention to the project and crypto in general.
