Hates_··on Expedia: Bad for the Traveler, Bad for the Hotel
You disagree from the point of an end customer. If you have no hotel preference and are mis-directed away from certain partners to those that pay better commission then to you it has been a good experience. Just because they have got you good bookings, does not mean they haven't lied and screwed people over in the process.

I had no idea they were run by the same people.

Looks like this has been fixed. Thanks :)

It's more a case of them being set to _BLANK instead of _blank. If I edit the src to be the correct lowercase version, CMD-Clicking works as it should.
Hates_··on Show HN: my personal news reader, now public - SkimFeed.com
For whatever reason I can't CMD-Click an article without being taken straight to it. I normally like to open a load of links in the background then read them one by one.
Hates_··on Lobsters
Thank you, I now have an invite :)
Hates_··on Plugins you should put in your vimrc
I've moved to ctrlp over Command-T as it's pure Vimscript. Feels even faster than Command-T to me:

Hates_··on New Apple Macbook Pro RAM is soldered to the motherboard | Ian Chilton
When was the last time you replaced anything yourself in your TV/Car/Other high priced item? If non-user serviceable parts are a consequence of ever increasing technology, then I'll happily accept that.
Hates_··on Stop Taking Yourself So Seriously
There are plenty of set plans that will work for anyone starting out. Starting Strength, Strong Lifts, New Rules of Lifting etc.

Personally I tell people to steer clear of personal trainers. If only I could recount the amount of crazy (and sometimes dangerous) things I've seen them get their clients to do, all in the name of "getting fit". Stick to big compound movements like squat, bench and deadlift and that'll be more than enough past just the starting out stages.

Hates_··on Young File-Sharers Respond To Tough Laws By Buying A VPN

Hates_··on European server provider Hetzner now offers a 64GB RAM box for 109€/mon
The only issue we've had with Hetzner was related to billing. Our payment failed on a Friday afternoon, and even after updating the details, payment wasn't taken and the server resumed until Monday morning.

Apart from that one hicup, it's been very reliable so far.

I hate to go off topic, but what browser were the screenshots made in? I love the clean border/top bar.
Hates_··on The all-new Basecamp is live
Is there a way to migrate existing Basecamp accounts over? I can't seem to find anything on how to do it.
Hates_··on SourceTree is a free Mac client for Git, Mercurial and Subversion
Although not free, I've been using Tower a lot lately for Git, even though I had used the command line interface for the past few years. I just find it a lot easier to divide chunks of work up into smaller commits using it rather than on the command line.

Hates_··on BuzzFeed Raises $15.5M To Transform The Way People Get Their News
Most probably the 25m monthly unique visitors. Building that sort of traffic is extremely hard.
Hates_··on Ask HN: Best book you read in 2011
I highly recommend his other book "Why we get fat" too.
Hates_··on Poll: Did you shutter a startup in 2011?
I have no doubt that many people make a decent living off Adsense. As the basis of a business' main revenue model, it didn't work for us.
Hates_··on Poll: Did you shutter a startup in 2011?
Sadly yes, two of them. The main lesson is never build a business based on advertising revenue.

We shut down http://www.publisha.com and http://www.viewshound.com after running out of funding.

Hates_··on Recipes with Backbone.js
I'm a couple of chapters in and I'm already really glad I bought it. After watching quite a few different Backbone.js screencasts I've been after something on "paper" to really piece it all together.

Here in the UK it's used to refer to builders/plumbers/etc who do bad work while claiming to be proficient.
