Feynman··on Samsung Doesn't Copy Apple
What's worse is that the copy isn't even better... if you're going to copy it, at least improve on the aesthetics or something. Sheesh :)
Feynman··on [dead]
If government work added up to 50% of my business I'd want you to shut and pay your taxes too... :)
Feynman··on OS X Lion: Easiest OS upgrade ever?
Agreed. Seems the second option (to upgrade OSX) should've been the first option, and the wording needed to be changed.

The "Upgrade" wording would have assured me it wasn't going to do anything crazy like wiping my hard disk.

Feynman··on Amazon Route 53 - The AWS Domain Name Service
Sounds like something Wikileaks should try...err... wait...nevermind. :)
Feynman··on Ninite.com (YC W08) releases new product and stats - 10 million apps installed
This may or may not be useful advice depending on the direction of the software... but this technology could make for the basis of great enterprise software. Everyone I've ever met who manages a Microsoft SMS / System Config Manager in an enterprise always seems to hate it. There's definitely a need for a simple way to manage and deploy software in an enterprise setting.
Feynman··on Ask HN: I sold my company last month for $5m. What do I do with the money?
Two Words: Hookers and Blow.
Feynman··on Google Releases CloudCourse - Blackboard killer?
Blackboard may just be the only piece of software I despised more than ExpertsExchange...
Feynman··on [dead]
What's next, "What Successful Criminals and Successful Entrepreneurs Have in Common".. ?
Feynman··on Microsoft: Here's why Google Apps suck
Sadly enough, that little bit in the video about corporate people spending all day in their Outlook is way too close to truth...

Looks like the guys at MS decided to take a lesson or two from Xobni.

Feynman··on Mixergy is now a paid subscription service for interviews older than a week
Bummer, didn't really see that coming. For some reason I felt like Andrew didn't need the money (from what little he posts about his background and experiences with his former company). There was this feel that the main goal of the site was really to collect and chronicle the modern day entrepreneur... and really, he was doing a bang up job at it. (Dare I say the best job yet?)

Guess I can't blame him for wanting to profit, but this particular move for profit just feels cheap. I would've much rather see some other ways of profiting. i.e. Quarterly Boxed DVD Sets, etc.

Feynman··on Introduction to Square
Slick. Love it.

Though... call me paranoid, I wonder if anyones ever just taken off after having the vendor give them the iphone for signing/receipt.

Feynman··on Why the Apple iPad has no Java or Flash
In re to Java -- GOOD. I've never used a Java app I've particularly liked. Heck, is it even possible to code a decent GUI'd, non-sluggishly-responsive Java app?
Feynman··on Unforgivable medical errors
Agreed. The NY Times Article is just plain scary.
Feynman··on Ask HN: Your favorite tiny feature?
The various ways of taking screenshots in OS X. Something I do nearly every day and am amazed at just how much thought and refinement went into the process.
Feynman··on Why College is Frustrating
Article aside, I really dig the format of your blog. It's refreshing to see straight text without 5000 "promote-me" buttons and misc other bullshit.
Feynman··on [dead]
Oddly enough, all my coworkers and I felt it was one of the most heartfelt and funniest Basketball HoF acceptance speeches we'd heard in awhile. And, by the laughter, I think Charles Barkley would have to agree.

Anyone who knows anything about Jordan knew he was competitive. The speech matched his personality perfectly.

Feynman··on Ask HN: CareCloud.com Website Review
My only complaint... after wading through the site I have very little idea of what carecloud.com actually does, technically or functionally. Graphically and visually the site looks fine. But, there's no meat and potatoes -- what's the software actually do? How does it work? It's all just very vague.
Feynman··on Facebook Now Lets You Fax Your Photos.
Which leads to their next cool feature that will allow you to instantly hire an artist to go to your friends' houses and draw a copy of the photo on their sidewalk, in chalk. Pure Sweetness.
Feynman··on Project Tuva: Feynman Lectures
Silverlight? Great... I die and my lectures are only viewable with Silverlight...

:>

Feynman··on Montana city asks for social network logins on job application
Not sure who's dumber -- the person working for the City that decides this is actually a good idea, or the person applying for the job who actually gives them their user name and password on the job application.
Feynman··on Stackoverflow Eating Away at Experts-Exchange
About time... I can't be the only one who thinks Experts-Exchange is lame...
Feynman··on InQuickER: See the ER doc in 15 minutes or less, or your ER visit is free
Nifty idea -- I work for a Hospital with California's largest ER, and several ERs in other hospitals owned by the same company. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time seeing something like this working in our environment (for a variety of reasons). However, I CAN see how this could be killer for small Urgent Care clinics. I can't tell you how many times I'd love to just go on a website and see what the wait times are for all my local urgent cares -- and then reserve/travel to the one I can get in quickest. Nice idea, clean design... really cool. Best of luck with it.
Feynman··on Heroku: Commercial Launch (YC W08)
Are there really only 3 people working on Heroku? Really, Really Impressive...
Feynman··on Microsoft releases free, open source, MVC-based CMS
They should take his approach with Sharepoint. After all, that's kind-of a glorified CMS running on the MS Development Stack.
Feynman··on Why great programmers don’t make as much money as soccer stars?
Because of Supply and Demand.
Feynman··on The BaseShield App Store for Windows launches (YC Winter 08)
Exactly. This product is like a very, very early SoftGrid... which has been out for a few years now. It's now called Microsoft Application Virtualization (Softricity was purchased by Microsoft about 2 years ago).

This certainly isn't anything new -- software virtualization on Windows. VMWare has a s/w virt. product, so Does Altiris, and so does Citrix Xen. I suppose since these products are mainly enterprise focused, most people never even hear of them.

Feynman··on µTorrent for Mac released
D'oh! Intel only! :/
Feynman··on Ask YC: Non web startup - solar?
Actually, there's a few companies out here in California that come out and install Solar panels on your roof with no cost to you. You use what you need for your house, then I guess they make money by selling off the excess power. I'm not totally sure how it all works but I do have a couple coworkers who swear by it.
Feynman··on NYT on why Microsoft should rewrite Windows from scratch
Hmmm, the article starts off with "Windows seems to move an inch for every time that Mac OS X or Linux laps it." Then moves to "A MONOLITHIC operating system like Windows perpetuates an obsolete design."

I'm no OS expert, but I thought Linux was also "monolithic" in terms of kernel design.

I think Mr. Stross should keep to writing about subjects in his expertise.

Feynman··on Developers, developers, developers ignoring, ignoring, ignoring Vista, Vista Vista
