DanielH··on Demoscene - The Art of the Algorithms
Farbrausch is simply a demogroup...

http://www.49games.de/ was the 'commercial' arm of Farbrausch (most Farbrausch members worked there) and they got bought by the german game developing company Bigpoint: http://bigpoint.net/2011/09/bigpoint-takes-over-the-entire-d...

Here's Kebby (FR) talking a bit about the demoscene at MIT: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/17875473

I highly doubt that this quote is really from Macchiavelli, as in his writings entrepreneurship is not touched in any way.

DanielH··on Or so they say...(Nice Html5 canvas demo)
Forgot about that, as I'm using Chromium 6 on a daily basis.

The author answered to some criticism: "It requires Chrome because the other browsers aren't fast enough yet. In some months hopefully it will run fast properly in all browsers (which is not exactly what happens with graphic cards requirements).

I've changed it so it uses an .ogg instead of an .mp3. Albeit much slower, it should now also run in Firefox and Opera."

DanielH··on Gameloft scaling back Android development in favor of iPhone
Maybe I'm blind but I didn't find any of their games in the market...anyone else?
DanielH··on Google's Android's market share compares well with Apple's iPhone
I agree with the first part, but how would several iPhone headlines sound if you break em down? Just read several numbers more thoroughly. Financial Q4/Q1 2009 approx. 30% down. Financial Q2 2008/Q2 2009 up 123% with 85 added countries...

"The demographic who is early adopters of the android phones are pretty likely to be heavier tech/web users than the iPhone folks."

I've seldom seen a 'normal' guy using an iPhone before the 3G iPhone came out...

DanielH··on 1 Million Google Android Phones sold by T-Mobile
You should remeber that these numbers are only the selling numbers of the US. I think the numbers from Europe will easily add up 1 Million additional phones. And with the HTC Magic (already played with it :)) coming to Europe in the next days in much more countries and further releases in the coming weeks there will soon be a much higher install base...
DanielH··on Redundant. Bored. I'm coming to SFO. Tight budget.
I think it's fairly easy to get around without speaking german. btw Berlin is great :)
DanielH··on Hands on with Nokia's iPhone killer
Dito and that they come up with a hardware/feature monster instead of fixing their broken ecosystem shows that they really don't know how they should compete in the future with all the Android phones and the iPhone.
DanielH··on Banned Interview With Sprint’s Android Manager
As I read it I thought it was just a fake, as he wasn't adding anything which was not already known.

His email address was finally the point where I thought - well why didn't he provide his offically Sprint/Nextel address: jorion@kc.rr.com

If you have questions write to: danielh@android.google.fake.cn

DanielH··on German company switching 12,000 desktops from PC to Mac
You are right!

They switched some years ago for the exact same reasons they mention now from Mac to Windows PCs.

DanielH··on Nokia buys Symbian, turns software over to Symbian Foundation
26% and 20% were US figures, that was a little mixed up I think - sorry. The rest was global.
DanielH··on Nokia buys Symbian, turns software over to Symbian Foundation
Apple sold 6 Mio. iPhones till June and the whole smartphone market is about 300 mio. phones, that's 2%.

The percentages mentioned on Techcrunch and all the other blogs mention selling figures per quarter. e.g. 35,522,360 smartphones sold in Q4 and 2,320,840 iPhones that means only 6,5% in this quarter and not in the whole market. I think it was 26% in Q1 2008 and 19% in Q2 2008 but as you see their market share is still only approximately 2% of all smartphones.

DanielH··on Nokia buys Symbian, turns software over to Symbian Foundation
They have a 6,5% share in Q4 and not overall, basically all those numbers out there only mention quarters and not overall market shares and that's very misleading. I have seen this on Techcrunch and many other blogs, where they put out 20% market share for the iPhone but if you consider there to be some 300 Mio. smartphones out there you get the real numbers ;).
DanielH··on Don't use mod_python
Basically you should use mod_wsgi these days...
DanielH··on Cities and Ambition

I've seen the hearing at the congress last week, these excutives didn't look and sound very confident to me...

DanielH··on Cost of converting entire U.S. to electric cars? Zero.
Problem #1: We'll see probably $200 this year and even higher in the next years. This can only be slowed down and nothing else... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_oil
