First of all I support my local team and go to almost every home game and a couple of away games each season.
But don't you see what you're providing as possible alternatives?
1. Stop following your national team which gave you huge joy in the past, and just not have that as part of your life. Why? Because of greed of others.
2. Go to live games, where ticket prices are gouged and the same extraction process happens. And hell even there you don't get to skip the hydration breaks magically.
In this case, my experience and something I care for is becoming shittier. And this is just a small example. It's happening in pretty much every facet of our environment. And why is it happening? Because of our economic system that rewards incessant greed and sociopathic behaviour.
It's exactly what enshitification is, people accepting these type of small changes and thinking it's not a big deal.
So no, it's not a tiny issue. Compared to this Balogun red card is a tiny issue.
That sounds great to me!
Maybe when we walk off the field and we're home, we can focus in peace on our work and be more productive?
Do you honestly believe those TikToks were made spontaneously and they depict a realistic view of the workplace?
It's not a half baked conspiracy theory - it's called a PR strategy and companies have been doing them on social media for as long as they existed.
Let me give you the benefit of the doubt. Even if the videos are spontaneous, how can you with a straight face use them to judge a workplace and use them as a metric on the amount of work done? Do you really think social media is a realistic depiction of life?
Maybe if you saw a TikTok of how big investors and execs live and how much they would lose (nothing material) by retaining these employees, you would understand the situation better.
That video was done for The Man, not for the employees well being. And apparently The Man was able to sell you this depiction of the work place so you can now feel smug about all those layoffs.
Good for you I guess, you independent thinker!
Your comment is ridiculously cynical and dehumanizing. It's disgusting to me how many people act like Ukrainian people have no agency by themselves and act like Russia was forced to do an invasion because they feel threatened by the west.
Companies where your scenario can play out are the exception and not the rule. Not that the motivations you wrote are much better for society.
I am speaking here about large companies that can have impact on a societal level, not your small mom and pop business.
But that's not true for most types of discussions and communication.
Reddit is a terrible alternative to forums. It's hard to actually have quality conversations there as communication is by default time based e.g the later you are in thread the less chance someone will read what you have written, and it's popularity based e.g. lowest common denominator memes and predictable comments will hog 90% of communication unless the sub is heavily moderated.
Communication on forums is much longer living and discussions have opportunities to evolve into something else, which creates an environment for more meaningful communication. And if you like your memes, well there's probably a thread for that.
This book teaches you DSP and also how to apply those DSP algorithms by employing them inside an audio plugin.
If startup founders want to work extra - let them. But when they create a culture where they expect everyone to give the same extreme amount of sacrifice and work while they stand to gain only a fraction of what those who own the capital or have power in running the companies will gain - that is something that should be fought against as vigorously as possible on every level of society - culture, law etc.
So I applaud this "virtue signaling" and call it common sense.
The utility here is very marginal, and there are alternatives that make your life even easier.
