ChristianGeek··on Space After Periods (1993)
An ellipsis should never be used between sentences; you should be using a semi-colon.
ChristianGeek··on Ask HN: Best value computer science book?
There’s an unofficial Python version floating around, but you’re better off with one of the Scheme versions.
ChristianGeek··on Submarine missing near Titanic used a $30 Logitech gamepad for steering
They haven’t killed anyone in years, either.
ChristianGeek··on Early Computer Art in the 50s and 60s
It was more magical.

Works for me.
ChristianGeek··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
I’m definitely at the point where I’m getting less productive from home, but the question is when is that drop in productivity offset by the time wasted commuting? If my office was just down the street I’d be there every day.
ChristianGeek··on Codeberg: A GitHub alternative from Europe
Has anyone tried this yet? It looks promising, especially with JetBrains behind it.
ChristianGeek··on New insignia for Air Domain Intelligence has a UFO
I thought it did and failed miserably.
ChristianGeek··on Behold Your $20k Trash Cans Have Arrived in SF and Are Now at Your Disposal
Whoever wrote the headline for this piece deserves a raise.
ChristianGeek··on Show HN: In-depth photographic look at all the golf courses I play
Based on other responses, there are obviously people who do want to read this level of detail. Good thing the internet caters to everyone.
ChristianGeek··on As weed gets more potent, teens are getting sick
I’m a distance runner too; I try to distance myself from running.
ChristianGeek··on Ford’s first electric F-150 delivery
To be honest, I’d buy the Ford over the Tesla in a heartbeat if I was in the market (and had the budget) for an electric truck.
ChristianGeek··on [dead]
This is a misleading title; police were inside 16 minutes after the human crashed his car outside the school. They were fired on (and grazed) by the gunman, who had barricaded himself inside the classroom and outgunned them, so they focused on helping students escape while waiting for backup.

I’m not saying the police couldn’t have done a better job in this situation, just that they did a much better job than the title of this post implies.

ChristianGeek··on The new and upgraded Framework Laptop
Sucks that you had this issue, but the 12.4 update went smoothly for me (unattended) on both an Intel MBP and an M1 Mac Studio. I’ve never experienced an update issue on the Mac (Windows is an entirely different story).
ChristianGeek··on Best Font for Online Reading: No Single Answer
There was also the suggestion near the end to cut the number of words for older readers, which is just ridiculous.
ChristianGeek··on Mini-ITX Seaberry Adds 11 PCIe Slots to a Raspberry Pi
Once you get to this size and price, there’s no point in using a Pi…there are much more powerful options available.
ChristianGeek··on Los Angeles is gearing up to ban wood-frame construction
50 years here, over half of which have been in Southern California, and I’ve never met anyone who has lost possessions either.
ChristianGeek··on Lesser-known Postgres features
Is there a PostgreSQL extension for ulid?
ChristianGeek··on The Hindenburg disaster denoised, upscaled, and colorized using ML [video]
Manhattan has never looked so green!
ChristianGeek··on Prefer the British Style of Quotation Mark Punctuation over the American
Isn’t it a rule that if you quote a complete sentence it must end the quoting sentence?
ChristianGeek··on Libreddit: Private front-end for Reddit written in Rust
Try Apollo if you’re on the iPhone.
ChristianGeek··on One grieving father got lawn darts banned (2012)
Never got hold of lawn darts but my teenage brain did come up with the similarly brilliant idea of shooting an arrow straight up in the air while laying on the ground and seeing how close to me I could get it to land. That game ended abruptly one day when the wind caught one, causing it to land a few inches away from a sunbathing neighbor.
ChristianGeek··on Tool to convert copyrighted music into fair use
Great way for the owner of the site to build up a library of free music!
ChristianGeek··on The ultrathin new iMac lost a lot more than size, like USB-A ports
You can buy USB A to C adapters that are just a plug. No docking station or cables needed. That’s what I did with my 16” MacBook Pro. Big deal.
ChristianGeek··on Ask HN: What things that tech recruiters do, annoy you the most as an engineer?
I had a recruiter call me once, and as part of the conversation asked me what I was looking to make. I told him, and he replied that I’d be lucky to make 2/3 of that. I asked him if he had my resume in front of him and he said yes. I told him to delete it. I ended up working with a different recruiter and accepted an offer 20% higher than the number I gave the first one..
ChristianGeek··on Docker for Mac M1 RC
Does Vagrant work on the M1 without issues?
