It is a night mare if someone asks for refund after auto withdrawal and never change PAN details unless you are okay with 7 days downtime.
You missed another important point, we also got few users from India and thanks to RBI regulations using paypal we cannot accept payments from another Indian. Well just offered them free migration.
Also if you are targeting consumers in US they are little more confident paying with PayPal vs asking for credit card details. This is an important point, always keep PayPal as an alternate when accepting payments from US market.
IP laws are little weak and innovation can thrive. If somebody wants to copy paste it can happen anywhere, irrespective of laws.
This is one of his other project to make it possible to present a floor plan on mobile or browser.
I love this on Mac but had to compromise on Windows! Looking forward for ubuntu too someday :). Great job guys!
Off topic Its sad that GPUs are very bulky and dissipates heat, discourages me to buy one to play games once in a while. And expensive too.
We are helping users move to tumblr & save their blog. So far moved 500000+ posts (mostly small blogs). But we are not able to help all the users who have multiple images and videos in a post. Currently we support only single image & audio posts. If we can find a way to host their files separately on S3 permanently, then the move would be effortless & many would thank.
There are so many users who don't understand what to do with their backup, for them moving to wordpress is too complex task.
I have reached out to Sachin aggarwal, but yet to hear a positive reply. Tumblr also rejected to host the files of Posterous blogs.
We are ready to collaborate with anyone who can host users file permanently, if needed users can pay directly to you. We were also considering dropbox for hosting files. Moving to new blog platform is a pain and we wanted to minimize as much as possible.
Any advice is appreciated (http://justmigrate.com)
I recently started using windows phone & win 8 pc. After using it for sometime I have realised that if you are into only few apps & want to use it effectively & productively then this is a great UI. These UI do not encourage more apps usage.
So next time if you are building a simple tool, flat design might be really cool. It makes users believe that there is less effort & it is faster. Again you need to master it to take good advantage of it like very other style. Signup page using flat ui is also a great idea if you ask me.
However a growth hack for 3Crumbs evolved into http://Justmigrate.com We treated it as a hackathon project, had full freedom to ideate & execute. We build this after hours for a month & it was a great success. Lot of users loved it & this bought tears in our eyes :).
Weekend hackathons are important, it lets you think out of the box. Now our original product is seeing lot of evolution for better growth.
We were actually stoned late Saturday night, yet managed some good customer support and bug fixing.
We had some good number of users trying out the free migration plan but the paid plan conversion was higher for HN when compared to TC, in fact very few HN users even tried free plan.
Basically most of the users will have seamless move & for rest we are on it.
I think its fair to donate some money to JSTOR. Even if its 1-10$ they can recover their losses & may be even profit for digitizing.
If they can open a small donation channel I would like to donate & thank them. Make knowledge easily accessible to all & we should encourage it.
Technology was one side of the story but in reality Joost failed to get traction, I hope BitTorrent Live is able to make use of the technology may be integrate with existing bit torrent clients.
Keep it real is more effective with small circles & friends
Rappotive can go to places where even google can't. Google People ( alternative to rappotive ) gives you info only from Google network. They are restricted in a way to go beyond their own network.
Truly a great product ! Congrats to the team.
Sometimes I wonder if its the investors who push for this acquisition. Reading though their blog it seemed Rappotive was building a premium product.
They were able to create a movement, which is not easy.
I never knew how it all began, I feel nostalgic after reading this story.
Beside they are not thief, its business. Apple products are far more expensive than Microsoft, the difference between 16GB & 32GB iPhones are not justified. People have a notion that Mac OS is far more refined than Windows. Well I feel they are wrong, windows 7 is far more customizable & stable on many devices etc than Mac OS. Apple is a good hardware company, they build brillant product that you can look & feel but they are not good at softwares. Mac OS is an extension of unix under a limited environment where as Ms Windows which was build in house can virtually run on any machine.
I am not a Microsoft Fan but using Ms products for quite some time, I always liked Apple's products, I would say Steve just knows how to sell. A good example is the way he packaged & sold the 1st iMac in a translucent box which looked amazing, with the same hardware inside.
Now when I started exploring the world of Apple I realized its little too over hyped that what its actually worthy of.
If you think about it now, Steve Jobs had more failures than Bill. Both had ups & downs but I feel Bill was more consistent when he was at Microsoft.
