BipolarCapybara··on The POSIX specification of vi
Great site! I've been wanting to learn it for the past couple of weeks, but didn't have enough motivation to sit trhough tutorials. +1
BipolarCapybara··on Bluesky is ushering in a pick-your-own algorithm era of social media
Because then your feed is flooded with news channels or posters that tweet every other minute.
BipolarCapybara··on Song lyrics getting simpler, more repetitive, angry and self-obsessed – study
More than TikTok optimized, stream optimized. Artists get paid by individual stream, so they make their songs shorter in hopes of getting more streams per album.
BipolarCapybara··on An ideological divide is emerging between young men and women around the world
Skill issue
BipolarCapybara··on Styling Flowcharts Using CSS
Wow! That doesn't look bad at all!
BipolarCapybara··on Dear Chess World
ok but why not, let's do it the classic greek way
BipolarCapybara··on Why We Switched from Python to Go (2021)
What do you feel is a good alternative to Go?

He didn't even deny the allegations!
BipolarCapybara··on SpaceX Paid $250k to a Flight Attendant Who Accused Musk of Sexual Misconduct
Yeah, how can you possibly misread someone so badly that you touch her without her permission and show her your penis?
BipolarCapybara··on GitHub Résumé: Service that creates a résumé based on your GitHub repos/activity
Exactly! This puts too much weight on ownership rather than contribution. Also, it doesn't list the forks where I have made local changes just for myself!
BipolarCapybara··on War of memes: Why Z-war won't end with peace
America is not the center of every conflict.

BipolarCapybara··on Why Big Nations Lose Small Wars (Paper, 1975) [pdf]
They do are bombing and leveling cities already.
BipolarCapybara··on Headlines compared: Polish newspapers from 1939 and news websites from 2022
To be honest, this conflict resembles some similarity with the Afghan invasion, just the Soviet one
BipolarCapybara··on Microsoft accidentally reveals that it is testing ads in Windows Explorer
I know nowadays it's very commont to pick on Microsoft, but they've delivered quality products, and even if you don't like Windows (I don't love it) it's a pretty decent operating system with lots of backwards compatibility. Excel is great. Visual Studio is great
BipolarCapybara··on Cutting Russia off from SWIFT a “matter of days” – euro zone central banker
So, it was unavoidable for Putin yo invade Ukraine because a few countries were joining a military club he doesn't like? And shelling and using clusters bomb on civilians was also unavoidable?
BipolarCapybara··on Vanced: YouTube adblocker for Android
Did they fix that you have to update it only through GitHub?
BipolarCapybara··on Vanced: YouTube adblocker for Android
Didn't the ads model emerge in part because in the early days it was really hard to pay for online services?
BipolarCapybara··on Vanced: YouTube adblocker for Android
In my expierience New Pipe is lacking. The fact you have to reimport the subscriptions manually is very tedious, besides I've found New Pipe breaks often and it won't let me load videos. It's pretty cool for listening to music while the screen is off, but I wouldn't recommend it as a daily Youtube driver.
BipolarCapybara··on Ask HN: What if submitting a story cost 1 karma?
Not to be dismissive, but the UI, UX of that site is pretty terrible. I went there and browse a few links but the general feel of it is dated and poor quality.
BipolarCapybara··on Ask HN: What programming language should I teach my child?
How old is your child? If they're between 10 and 14 years old you can teach them Hedy (hedycode.com) ! A gradual programming language that's easy to learn and transpiles to python!
BipolarCapybara··on “Latinx” is lexical imperialism
Exactly this! I think non-gendered adjectives are a nice addition to Spanish and many people are starting to use it! Adding "-e" to the end of words is far more commy tham adding x to it. Latinx sounda really weird in Spanish and latine sounda way better, it also integrates netter with other parts of the language, you can say ingeniere, aliade, but ingenierx or aliadx sounds amd looks weird and ugly.
