BewareTheYiga··on From Quantum Relative Entropy to the Semiclassical Einstein Equations (2025)
I love Physical Review Letters. I'm no longer in the field and have no appetite to go through 8-12 page papers.
BewareTheYiga··on Corgi kills short-lived website that ranked its female employees
I hate this “do anything for clout” culture.
BewareTheYiga··on OpenChamber: An Agentic Development Environment
This looks neat. How is this different from Jetbrains Air?
BewareTheYiga··on In Memory of My Wife, Elise Cawley, with Thanks for 36 Wonderful Years
What a beautiful tribute.
BewareTheYiga··on The Upcoming Sunset of DataSpell
I never understood the product strategy here. It always felt like “PyCharm, but for notebooks” without a clear reason for existing as a separate product.
BewareTheYiga··on Ti-84 Evo
You will have to pry my TI-89 from my cold dead hands. I wish they still made it
BewareTheYiga··on I benchmarked Claude Code's caveman plugin against "be brief."
Caveman made me laugh and that, in theory, should count for something.
BewareTheYiga··on Zed is 1.0
Bravo! I've enjoyed using Zed and seeing its progress. Still waiting on python notebook support.

BewareTheYiga··on Apple discontinues the Mac Pro
I am incredibly saddened that the inevitable finally happened. The OG 5,1 cheese grater sparked so much joy. I added and expanded so much over the years before I finally donated it to a computer museum and moved on to Apple Silicon. I did everything from scientific computing, ripping movies, serving files, running websites, and everything in between.
BewareTheYiga··on Drugwars for the TI-82/83/83 Calculators (2011)
The amount of classroom time I wasted playing this game…
BewareTheYiga··on Prek: A better, faster, drop-in pre-commit replacement, engineered in Rust
This has been such a breath of fresh air. It was seamless to drop into my projects.
BewareTheYiga··on Show HN: A Claude Code plugin that catch destructive Git and filesystem commands
I am always surprised at how quick Claude will ask to run git filter-branch vs doing the same operation safely via an extra command or two.
BewareTheYiga··on Ask HN: What tech purchase did you regret even though reviews were great?
The Loupedeck S. Its been nothing but a pain. Should have gotten a Stream Deck
BewareTheYiga··on Show HN: I made you a Christmas present
I lost a family member yesterday and I have not been well. This brought me out of the darkness for a spell. Thank you kind stranger. May your days be blessed
BewareTheYiga··on Tell HN: Merry Christmas

BewareTheYiga··on Will West Coast Jazz Get Some Respect?
When I think of west coast jazz, I think of Tom Scott and I was surprised to not see him in this article.
BewareTheYiga··on Noninvasive imaging could replace finger pricks for measuring blood glucose
For me, the needles suck. The sensors can go bad and can give false readings — so you still need to prick your finger. It’s better than flying blind but I’m hoping for a non invasive option
BewareTheYiga··on Show HN: Marimo VS Code extension – Python notebooks built on LSP and uv
Will you consider a plugin for Pycharm?
BewareTheYiga··on Show HN: PrinceJS – 19,200 req/s Bun framework in 2.8 kB (built by a 13yo)
This is amazing! It does everything but make the jollof.
BewareTheYiga··on Refund requests flood Microsoft after tricking users into AI upgrades
http://archive.today/BRCuY

Was this just a dark pattern or did they flat out hide the classic option?

BewareTheYiga··on I'm drowning in AI features I never asked for and I hate it

BewareTheYiga··on A magnetic field orientation that changes the fundamental design of motors
Did I miss the memo where we repealed ∇·B = 0?
BewareTheYiga··on The importance of counter-clockwise dance rituals
I'm impressed the author took the time to mention the ring shout. But they lose points for referring to the continent of Africa like it was a country, and missing the opportunity to go a bit deeper on its importance in Western African cultures.
BewareTheYiga··on James Baldwin's Apotheosis
Baldwin didn’t play identity politics. He rewrote the rules of identity itself.
BewareTheYiga··on U.S. fires statistics chief after soft jobs report
We as a country are so unserious. I just can't anymore.
BewareTheYiga··on The fringe movement punishing officials with fake debt claims

BewareTheYiga··on Show HN: Conductor, a Mac app that lets you run a bunch of Claude Codes at once
I like the concept, but I need the ability to interact with a repo I've already cloned. I can't connect this to my work GitHub enterprise repos.
BewareTheYiga··on The uv build back end is now stable
Another great milestone in an awesome suite of python tools. UV got me using virtual environments again. I especially love it in CI/CD.
BewareTheYiga··on HTAP is Dead
I'd argue the bigger value is keeping the data in one storage place and bringing the compute to it. Works especially well for Big Corp use cases where entire divisions of the corp go their own way. Throw in M&A activity and it is a good hedge for the unknown (I.e you might be an Databricks and Azure shop and you just bought a Snowflake & AWS company). Keep the data in an open table format, and let everyone query using their preferred engine to their hearts desire.
