Neither situation is good: we're under stress for ressources availability, when they're stuck in Kafka's world. Last week I learned that two different team ingest some of our data — which is fine, except that we moved to an API and only the first team use it. The second team was not aware that it exist (well, forgot about it).
I don't know what the good solution when you reach this kind of headcount would be. As a PM/PO, I'm baffled about this kind of complexity. My experience lead me to think that no one is managing that currently... it's kind of working, till it falls, hard.
And I can update the ram and use ECC.
Not bad all in all !
Still, I got a Dell SFF with an I5 and 16gb of ram for less than 100€ — updated it with a 4 2,5gbps NIC, will be good for OPnsense... If I don't switch to a Melanox Connect 3.
And stimulant kind of help. They're not magic... you have to use therapy, exercise, meditation, organisation to cope. Fun. That's maybe why people can be irritable under medication (and which kind... people react differently to very similar molecules so...)
Let's not speak about the need to sync with other team, external partner, showing progress to the management, getting the information from all those peoples, getting ready with side department like compliance, marketing or whatever is needed to make the work relevant.
So no, it's not to prevent anyone from starting a project from scratch. It's to make sure that the project will come to fruition, useful and if possible reach its goal.
And honestly, a good manager/tool will help deal with that. Now... there are a lot of them that create a kafkaesque hell.
And it was fun to develop those skill. I can even share the remains (like those big RC cars) with my children. So now… I do whatever is fun.
Even a big spider robot. It got me working on understanding trigonometry for now… and handling a lot of servo.
The good news is that, while still valuable, you won't have to lose time creating a new broken wheel. The bad news is that this part of CompSci is now mostly fundamental research.
This exchange of data and redirection is the core of the oauth.
It’s another job altogether. That doesn’t mean I won’t follow the technological trends, educate myself or refuse to program anything. I wrote some postman script to validate what’s happening with our api, know the infra behind it, and can generally point people in the right direction. I have to know the product inside out to make educated answers when something goes wrong or if a decision is required.
It’s often a people job. And that’s something I try to share with the teams I work for.
It's luck with bad painting.
It's a bit like know how a computer work deeply help you be a better develloper. You don't use your inner knowledge every day, but it will help you.
I don't like Picasso, but I can recognize the quality of his works.
I moved from being mostly sedentary to being able to run 10km, swimming regularly, joining a field hockey team, doing archery. I also do hiit 3 times a week. Still my schedule is fucking chaotic, so beside the field hockey training which is on a fixed date, the other activities are done at, let's say, interesting and random time.
In my country changing the color of the vehicle will trigger a need to recertify the vehicle. For the fucking color.
The fact that Autodesk has since bought nearly every big package (notable exception: SideFX Houdini, Maxon Cinema4D and the Foundry Modo) helped a lot. They’re not exactly well loved, be it in special effects, architecture or CAD (though for CAD they’re all bad at the end of the day)
I like that Blender is a credible option. I would have loved to have this kind of option when I was younger - way simpler than finding Maya, 3Ds or other big package… with, erhmm, free licence let’s say.
That's where we're losing time. Dealing with an inherited mess.
I want to be pragmatic here. Coprocessor were all the rage for the Amiga, then were out out of the loop, and were back for with the GPU. A bit like we're back to the mainframe experience with Kubernetes and all (don't throw tomatoes at me ;))
People may, or may not prefer the Android experience. That's not relevant here.
Which is the stupidest system internally : get paid vat, paid it to the state minus the VAT you’re owned as business for whatever you’ve bought. Loss of time and energy all around.
