ActVen··on Launch HN: Golpo (YC S25) – AI-generated explainer videos
Just tried on Chrome instead of safari and it worked this time. Thanks and congrats on the launch!
ActVen··on Launch HN: Golpo (YC S25) – AI-generated explainer videos
Popup window with "Load Failed" after it had some progress on the bar past 40% or so. Shows up in the library, but won't play. I just deleted it for now.
ActVen··on Apache ECharts
I used to love using it. But, all of my coworkers hated it. I haven't revisited since the AI boom. Maybe it will have a bit of a comeback. Many people found it too difficult.
ActVen··on Middle-aged man trading cards go viral in rural Japan town
That caused a much needed chuckle this morning.
ActVen··on Ask HN: Do you still use Search Engines?
Way less than I used to. I have been a pretty advanced user since before google. The combination of AI and quick auto links to wikipedia articles on iOS have replaced much of it. The one place I still use it extensively is in local searches for businesses and when trying to find a brand or business that I know if they don't have an app.
ActVen··on Show HN: Transform Your Codebase into a Single Markdown Doc for Feeding into AI
Same question here. I have found repomix to get the job done really well.
ActVen··on Show HN: Transform your codebase into a single Markdown doc for feeding into AI
Any unique benefits over using this vs something like Repomix? https://github.com/yamadashy/repomix
ActVen··on OpenAI O3-Mini
I really wish they would open up the reasoning effort toggle on o1 API. o1 Pro Mode is still the best overall model I have used for many complex tasks.
ActVen··on Show HN: I made an open-source laptop from scratch
This is a great example of why people should not be afraid to be bold.
ActVen··on AI companies cause most of traffic on forums
Definitely. I'm just talking about an interesting way to identify content creation on a site.
ActVen··on AI companies cause most of traffic on forums
It might be very interesting to check your current traffic against recent api outages at OpenAI. I have always wondered how many bots we have out there in the wild acting like real humans online. If usage dips during these times, it might be enlightening. https://x.com/mbrowning/status/1872448705124864178
ActVen··on Ask HN: Is any recent hourly social media activity data available?
Nice, that is a good idea. I think that result wouldn't be too surprising to anyone here. :)
ActVen··on Show HN: Create and Run a Team of Web Research AI Agents with a Prompt
If anyone has any feedback on how useful the end product was or how it compares to other tools, I would love to hear it.
ActVen··on Apple Intelligence Foundation Language Models [pdf]
The on device benchmarks are impressive. Especially tool use.
ActVen··on Creating a team of AI agents with a simple prompt
We have been working on an internal tool that allows you to create a team of AI agents and tasks with a simple prompt. We find it very useful. If you have any feedback on the concept or might find something like this useful, please let us know. We are considering launching it as a project. Thank you!
ActVen··on Claude 3 model family
Here is the list of the questions. https://imgur.com/a/D4xwczU The PDF can't be shared. But, it looks something like the one here: https://content.naic.org/sites/default/files/call_materials/...
ActVen··on Claude 3 model family
Same here. Opus just crushed Gemini Pro and GPT4 on a pretty complex question I have asked all of them, including Claude 2. It involved taking a 43 page life insurance investment pdf and identifying various figures in it. No other model has gotten close. Except for Claude 3 sonnet, which just missed one question.

ActVen··on Apple Vision Pro available in the U.S. on February 2
The virtual objects and eye tracking are the features that, if they nailed it, seem to really set it apart. When they first launched the iPhone small details like the scrolling and pinch to zoom were just done so well, it changed the game with user interaction. I'm hoping the advances in this device have a similar impact on users.

Has anyone seen a negative review from someone that has had a chance to try it a few times? All of the reviews I have seen have been pretty phenomenal. That is one of the reasons that I am looking to give it a try. If the UI and screen quality is so fantastic, it will be a great virtual screen for productivity and entertainment.
ActVen··on I deeply regret my participation in the board's actions
Very similar to something that Adam was involved with before at Quora. https://x.com/gergelyorosz/status/1725741349574480047?s=46&t...
ActVen··on OpenAI staff threaten to quit unless board resigns
Adam has to be behind this. It is very reminiscent of the situation with Quora and Charlie. https://x.com/gergelyorosz/status/1725741349574480047?s=46&t...
ActVen··on Serverless Best Practices
We use lambda functions(node with pg) to process incoming data. We just connect them to Aurora(Postgres) and make the inserts. We have never had any problem with the process whether we are pulling from a queue or other data source.
ActVen··on Netlify, a sevice for quickly rolling out static websites, raises $2.1M
Being able to instantly go back to any previous version and click through the content without impacting the git workflow is a great feature.
ActVen··on Netlify, a sevice for quickly rolling out static websites, raises $2.1M
We use them for our middleman based website. They are fantastic from a performance and support standpoint.
ActVen··on Investors don’t look at pitch decks for very long
This is why we used an legal-sized PDF infographic for our initial pitch document. We only raised 400K...but the round was full in 20 days.
ActVen··on What every Web Developer should know about SEO
If you compete in a B2B space selling a high revenue product it absolutely still matters. Even more so if you are taking on larger companies with a heavy focus on outbound sales. Everyone is not "doing this". Assumptions like that are way too broad.
ActVen··on One Year Review of Lob.com
Congrats and thanks for sharing the story. The Lob team does a great job and is extremely responsive to customers.
ActVen··on 4chan demands 4chan.com domain name
Yes it is. http://www.trademarkia.com/4chan-85867485.html
ActVen··on Ask Parents of HN: Would you use an "Uber for babysitting"?
I might use a service like this. However, trust is the biggest issue. You might think about targeting sitters that already have a certain trust factor with society in general. Teachers for example have the trust, background, need for money that might work for something like this. Current daycare employees might be another one. Friends of friends on social networks is another angle.
