Check out FUTO Keyboard, It has swipe-typing feature.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Fairphone 6 is switching to a new design that's even more sustainable
> On a more positive note, due to the AOSP/Pixel drama there now is a real possibility a different major OEM will be supported

I really do not know which other major OEM other than exynos-based samsung that comes near GOS' checklist, but here I am hoping if he is talking about Nothing phone.

8K832d7tNmiQ··on Timescale Is Now TigerData
Why not TigerScale ?
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Sshfs for Windows
Not everyone wants to install a huge resource just to use one feature.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Microsoft Launches Surface Laptop 6 for Business and Surface Pro 10
To be fair, the Surface we know for its 0/10 repairability 10 years ago is vastly different compared to today.

Heck, they even post an official repair guide as far as Surface Pro 7+ on Youtube[0].

8K832d7tNmiQ··on Microsoft Launches Surface Laptop 6 for Business and Surface Pro 10
The latest Surface Go 4 still sold only for business for 6 months begs to differ.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Nintendo is suing the creators of Switch emulator Yuzu
Gonna bet it's actually because of the DRM implementation on Yuzu that got it into trouble.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Three years after its revamp, Firefox's Android browser adds 450 new extensions
It's on Settings > Customize > Pull to Refresh.

Otherwise, I have no idea what you are talking about.

8K832d7tNmiQ··on Epic vs. Google: Google Loses
Pixel + grapheneOS is the best middleground if you want.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on AMD MicroBlaze V Processor: A Flexible and Efficient RISC-V Processor
or simplify it as AMD V core to make it easier to say.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Video codecs: Adding AV1 stateless video decoder support to Linux
I'd expect for AV1 decode support announcement for their next iphone.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Linux network performance parameters
I'm also seconding this, but from microcontroller perspective.

I want to try developing a simple tcp echo server for a microcontroller, but most examples just use the vendor's own tcp library and put no effort explaining how to manually setup and establish connection to the router.

8K832d7tNmiQ··on Demystifying ESIM Technology [video]
Nothing stops feature-phone vendors like Nokia to implement e-sim on their newer lineup.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on A list of recent hostile moves by Google's Chrome team
Need to mention WebUSB[1] too since it's only implemented and forced on Chromium.

8K832d7tNmiQ··on Firefox 116 Should Have Experimental PipeWire Camera Support
This is huge news for people who runs Linux on Surface devices as they need to compile a custom v4l module for the custom kernel, and also need to run a hacky v4loopback workaround to use it on vidcalls.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Nvidia is now a $1T company
ANANG, rhythm enough for me.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Deno 1.34: Deno compile supports NPM packages
another perspective is that you can gradually move away your project dependencies into deno while still using node modules.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Win32 App Isolation
Is this based on a similar technology that once shown on windows 10X years ago?
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Help make mass surveillance of entire populations uneconomical
Should've add (2021) at the end because the site itself hasn't been updated in years.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Nokia launches DIY repairable budget Android phone
2017 and above android phones are generally considered to be mature enough on both hardware and OS version side compared to a decade-old phones released on 2015 and below.

I would not surprise if we'd gradually get longer software support on future phones as time goes on.

8K832d7tNmiQ··on What are some interesting uses of WebUSB you have come across?
It should be an opt-in feature behind browser flag or only available for enterprise users IMO.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Orion Browser
I'd guess something like ads running from their own domain, hence first-party ads.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Pipe Operator (|>) For JavaScript
Yeah, no. The idea of even reversing function order just to use the piping operator itself is already bad enough to even consider using it.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (January 2023)

  Location: Jakarta, Indonesia
  Remote: Negotiable
  Willing to relocate: No
  Technologies: Industrial devices, modbus/proprietary protocol
  Résumé/CV: nathanic.vercel.app
  Email: j0juxhrq@anonaddy.me
I'm not very good on explaining my past job since it's a very niche task in my own country, but the last few projects I had tackled around monitoring and data acquisition for many industrial-grade equipments with either open (Modbus) or proprietary protocol.

If your business or startup resolves around that kind of technology, please let me know.

8K832d7tNmiQ··on Apple introduces end-to-end encryption for backups
> seriously, anyone at this point advocating for any other phone/os/service out there besides apple is really going out of their way to swim up river.

If there's anything I learned about any offers made from big tech, I would never trust any of them until proven for long-term usage for half a decade at bare minimum.

3-2-1 strategy is still a proven method for decades and will still be over any cloud services out there, including iCloud's.

8K832d7tNmiQ··on Tailscale Funnel
if there's anyone from tailscale is currently lurking this post:

1. How much traffic cost would you expect to get into your DERP instances when this service will be available globally?

2. How much bandwidth would you prepare just for proxying these nodes into public network?

3. How do you think some users might abuse this service in the future?

8K832d7tNmiQ··on GitHub stars won't pay your rent (2020)
users who use their product are probably assumed to be working on enterprise market already, hence a weird B2B model in an open community.
8K832d7tNmiQ··on OpenSSL 3.0.7 fixes X.509 email address buffer overflows
When will this package got updated on GCP? Currently on Ubuntu 22.04 and we're still on 3.0.2 .
8K832d7tNmiQ··on Deno 1.27
I'd say deno, because they've already established a proper ecosystem since day one, has a working usage such as Deno Deploy[0] and Fresh[1], and already addresses some issues about distribution issue on Node, while bun still acts like a replacement for Node.

8K832d7tNmiQ··on Gpwgraph – PipeWire Graph Qt GUI Interface
pavucontrol is way too restricted for something that can be visualized as a node just like qpwgraph. Anything that requires you to do a little advanced configuration would end up go fallback into command line approach.
