Cheaper than some stupid generic college textbook though.
64operator··on Pentagon leaker’s violent rhetoric raises fresh questions on top secret vetting
Wait he was a shill? When I hear "airman in IT" I hear "Eglin AFB shill."
64operator··on US officials lead urgent rescue talks for First Republic
The contagion will spread until the munny printers catch fire from overuse.
64operator··on The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat
Also the vast majority of the public, who eat meat. I would sacrifice your right to free speech before I sacrificed my ability to eat meat.
64operator··on The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat
With WWIII coming the poor people problem has been solved.
64operator··on Pentagon leaker’s violent rhetoric raises fresh questions on top secret vetting
Aren't soldiers supposed to have at least some violent tendencies? Can't really fight a war with folks who aren't interested in killing other people.
64operator··on The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat
Can a modern military about to enter WWIII susbsist on root marm? Let's find out.
64operator··on The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat
Couldn't you say this about nearly everything? Energy green or non, non-meat foodstuffs, medicines, education, mail? Let's cut all subsidies across the board.
64operator··on The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat
What aren't they, really? That's what I'd like to know.
64operator··on Minidisc FAQ: MDLP (“Long-Play”) Mode Topics
While MD was real neat for the time, the first revision of the format didn't sound as good as a good quality cassette recorder with a high bias tape and Dolby B, especially with transient broad-band signals like cymbals and snare drums. Later on they fixed this to some degree but the issue was compatibility hell. A couple friends of mine had MD portables and while they were neat I was never really tempted because as a Linux user at that time, there was no way to get music onto them. I also had blown a big wad on a professional cassette Walkman.

It's the same with minimizing my carbon footprint. As soon as Al Gore and Bill Gates stop flying I'm all in.
64operator··on Intel posts largest loss in its history as sales plunge
With the stunning 1-2% year on year gains in speed, when you're not losing 10-20% of your performance for mitigations, who sees a compelling reason to upgrade their computer? Laptop, workstation, or server?
64operator··on The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat
The energy inputs alone preclude any thought of it being ethical.
64operator··on Gpt4free repo given takedown notice by OpenAI
It's been taken down, how can you clone it? Anyway if anybody has links to a mirror that'd be great. Still wondering why people don't self-host.
64operator··on The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat
It's also tough because nobody really wants this. I've asked around and none of the vegans, vegetarians, or meat eaters I know are even vaguely interested in this. Reactions range from "huh" to "I'll never eat fake meat." I wont eat it either, it's dehumanizing.
64operator··on FlipperZero: 1 Month Battery Life with Firmware Update
NTMA but I just got mine last week.

MS and Amazon own and run Rust, this isn’t surprising.
64operator··on Even Apple employees hate Siri and are skeptical of its future, new report says
It used to be smarter, I think they dumbed it down to save money or something.
64operator··on Aubrey Plaza Is the Unfortunate New Face of the Milk Wars
Their own subject matter, snark, and I’m not going to bother checking ownership to see if the people who own them fly to Davis but I can easily assume they do.
64operator··on Biden Enables Confucius Institute Affiliate Schools to Receive Federal Funding
This is good, cracking down and getting tough on China.
64operator··on Beaten ex-SF fire commissioner accused of bear spray attacks on homeless people
Vigilante Justice is inevitable when society breaks down. And it’s broken down in SF.
64operator··on AMD Ryzen 7000 Burning Out: Impacts all 7000 processors
This damage control, LOL.
64operator··on Ask HN: Anyone else noticing an uptick in spam on Gmail?
For many years now. Heck I created a gmail account with a long, random address, logged in a couple months later and it was full of spam.
64operator··on Apple is reportedly working on an AI health coach
When I read a story like this I think, yep, Apple found another leaker to fire.
64operator··on Supreme Court: Will Blocking on the SocialWeb Remain Legal for All in the USA?
That’s a new neologism to me, SocialWeb. I don’t care for it.
64operator··on Peruvian archaeologists unearth 500-year-old Inca ceremonial bath
Was it a ritual bath or a ceremonial bath?
64operator··on Inferno-OS: distributed operating system where everything is a file
I had a project with this back in the 2001-2003 era or so and at that time the browser could still do the "modern web" such as it was. It should never have failed like Lisp Machines, Smalltalk, Forth environments, Pascal, and the rest. The nice thing is the web is so borked that you could easily replace it and some entity will. My guess is China.
