5986043handy··on Stripe bans Trump campaign
Stripe doesn't owe anyone the right to use their services. Just as an airline can bar anyone for most any reason (unless that reason is membership in a protected class[0]), Stripe can do the same.

5986043handy··on RCEP, the world’s biggest trade agreement
In the absence of US leadership in the region it was only a matter of time before some other treaty came into being.

The link to [1] is an interesting take that questions the future of Asia as bipolar (China vs US)

5986043handy··on RCEP, the world’s biggest trade agreement
Found this interesting:

> A paper from the Peterson Institute for International Economics by Peter Petri and Michael Plummer cites modelling showing that it will raise global GDP in 2030 by an annual $186bn (compared with a gain of $147bn from the CPTPP).

5986043handy··on Show HN: Learn how WebRTC actually works. A book on the protocols, not just APIs
I remember working on a simple peer-peer chat using WebRTC [1] and it took me a long time to actually grok what the whole protocol was and how it worked, even with off-the-shelf libraries available. This would have saved me so much time!

5986043handy··on C# .NET Core versus Java fastest programs
Take with a grain of salt, JVM tuning is an entire art and science, probably same with CLR.

5986043handy··on There's No Good Reason to Trust Blockchain Technology (2019)
A large chunk of the arguments tend to assume Proof of Work as the consensus mechanism which isn't a flaw inherent in blockchain (eg. could have Proof of Stake, etc.)

5986043handy··on US travel firm $4.5M ransom negotiation open chat
The waste of electricity/mining gear is mostly due to Proof of Work consensus, but moving to Proof of Stake/other consensus algorithms will eliminate basically all waste (eg. Ethereum is moving to PoS).

5986043handy··on Barrier = Single keyboard/mouse solution for controlling multiple machines

Test prep has a small impact ONLY WHEN ALL OTHER BACKGROUND FACTORS ARE CONTROLLED. Many studies have found that without these controls on things like parental income, school district, etc., test prep has a large impact due to the vastly improved test prep of students who can afford high quality coaching/spend lots of time preparing.
