4silvertooth··on The Lighthouse: How extreme isolation transforms the body and mind (2020)
>Psychologist Sarita Robinson at the University of Central Lancashire, UK, says that hallucinations are common when people are in isolation, usually occurring if there is also sensory deprivation, such as being in a dark room.

Does the AI model hallucinations somewhat linked to this, does computer AI model too need some sort of socializing?

4silvertooth··on A faster way to copy SQLite databases between computers
I think it won't preserve the index but it will recreate the index while running the text sql.
4silvertooth··on 10 Years of HexaPDF
>Another thing that was imported to me was - and still is

Typo in the article word imported should be important.

4silvertooth··on Pillu AI: Your ultimate whiteboard on Steroids
Congratulations, you built and deployed that, you could register a proper domain name, pillu.ai is available. Also `anyone who works with their brain` in tag line sounds like a bit in harsh tone or like sarcasm you could change that. Just my input.
4silvertooth··on Ask HN: Fastest cross-platform GUI stack/strategy
Give https://sciter.com/ a try. It's fast and small.
4silvertooth··on Why it's so challenging to land upright on the moon
Humans have been driving cars since decades, how hard would it be to make a self-driving, well it seems it is difficult.
4silvertooth··on How have you found purpose in your life?
Life doesn't have a purpose, machines have purpose. -Osho Rajnish
4silvertooth··on All art is a copy of something
After reading the article I was wondering is AI generated images Art! We showed them millions of images and it's reinterpreting those, in a way it's Art.
4silvertooth··on Visualizing Packrat Parsing (2021)
Oh I had some really good times with ohm editor, when I was evaluating ohm, although I could not use ohm for the project but I do miss such editor/visualization for any parser toolkit.
4silvertooth··on Problem solving across 100,633 lines of code – Gemini 1.5 Pro Demo [video]
How about people just write the spec and AI give us the code on that, that would be mind blowing.
4silvertooth··on Demo: Tohands Smart Calculator v4 [video]
What are the hardware specs?
4silvertooth··on Demo: Tohands Smart Calculator v4 [video]
Is that screen changing swipe due to slow machine Or is it an animation? Looks bad UI/UX if it's animation, the calculator doesn't look snappy due to it. Building such a hardware must be the most difficult feat, although an app on mobile would work with the same use case but there is no beating a calculator for the speed and shop keepers being very proficient at it. A calculator that does the ledger sounds good. Best of luck.
4silvertooth··on Ask HN: What apps have you created for your own use?
I used a paid app for calculations with annotations and felt I needed something greater than that so I built one for myself.

4silvertooth··on Show HN: I built a website to buy and sell used clothes in Indonesia

4silvertooth··on Netflix Password Sharing Crackdown Works, U.S. Subscriber Numbers Soar
stremio is your friend.
4silvertooth··on Show HN: Open Optical Designer, free and open source lens design software
Nice, Something like this would have been so usefull, I was building a diy projector, and could not find a projector lense in budget, but I found somewhere that I could use two prescription lense to build a projector lense, the distance between those two lense the distance from screen was all trial and error, all I could project was a dim image of cellphone on the ceiling. But looking at this project sent me back to my diy tinkering days.
4silvertooth··on QwikTape: Do calculations, annotate like you would on a paper
Does it really need a tutorial video? I've made an `Introduction` document that opens on first use ,which is self explanatory.
4silvertooth··on QwikTape: Do calculations, annotate like you would on a paper
I'll have a look into it.
4silvertooth··on QwikTape: Do calculations, annotate like you would on a paper
It's binary you could `chmod +x qwiktape` and execute it, I've made note in the readme about it.
4silvertooth··on QwikTape: Do calculations, annotate like you would on a paper
My initial thoughts were how does a spreadsheet do it? but it's a different kind of beast.

In search of a parser toolkit I had come across this https://github.com/handsontable/hyperformula which uses chevrotain to parse spreadsheet formulas and decided to use chevrotain for the parsing.

4silvertooth··on QwikTape: Do calculations, annotate like you would on a paper
Ohh interesting,

1.6 Gib is the SDK with all the documentation, the final builds are comparatively tiny.

4silvertooth··on QwikTape: Do calculations, annotate like you would on a paper
Well few of the surprises in sciter SDK were solved by the author of Sciter Andrew,

Sciter development is mostly development-on-demand, so any bugs or feature gets resolved on interest. I've not faced any major issue with it.

4silvertooth··on QwikTape: Do calculations, annotate like you would on a paper
Can you try the prebuilt from releases for macOS?
4silvertooth··on QwikTape: Do calculations, annotate like you would on a paper

4silvertooth··on Diamonds Suck (2006)
One could consider lab grown diamond too, they have same properties of a diamond and are very affordable.
4silvertooth··on Jugaad takes agile to the extreme (2020)
Jugaad would be same as Redneck Engineering.
4silvertooth··on Ask HN: JavaScript-Less DOM as a GUI System?
Take a look at Sciter, it won't turn your website into an application like electron or tauri, but you could use it's api (c++) for direct DOM manipulation to make GUI. You could consider it as engine that renders HTML CSS.
