120bits··on Ask HN: What books are you reading this week?
A friend gifted me this book on my birthday "On the Shoulders of Giants: The Great Works of Physics and Astronomy"
120bits··on 100 Most Influential CS Books According to Stack Overflow
At my first job, one of the senior software engineer asked me to read Programmatic Programmer. Initially, I was like "huh, why would read a book like this?" Five years later, when we have a new engineer joining our team. I ask him if he read that book, if not I make sure he does.
120bits··on Atom 1.10 and 1.11 beta
Ok after reading comments about performance compared to sublime. I wanted to try this out myself.

I opened a 7.5K LOC on both atom and sublime, atom was responsiveness and no lag.

Second, I fired up my linux machine and filled a log file with 159K lines. I use vi first and no lag. I opened it on atom, it was slow, took more than 30 secs to basically show the file, not completely loaded. And finally, I opened that log file on sublime, bam! instant load, no lag.

So, yes, I can see what fellow HNers have been saying about the performance.

120bits··on Programming fonts comparison
I use secureCRT, consolas 12pt. The font looks good and my default editor is Vim(mostly C).
120bits··on Pokémon Go loses its luster, sheds more than 10M users
I think I was more focusing on the rise and fall of famous "mobile gaming" in general. There was time everyone I knew was into Angry Birds. Every guy I meet tells me how their wife or gf are into candy crush and just addicted to it. And now everyone has jumped on the Pokemon go bandwagon. Hence, the interest fading away eventually. This is just what I have noticed among the people I know.
120bits··on Pokémon Go loses its luster, sheds more than 10M users
This is what I have noticed in just my friend circle.

I was never an active Pokemon Go player, but few of my friends were really into the game. Every Friday we would go out for a walk, in near by park and they will have their phone out and be catching Pokemons. I guess it was just how much more I can catch thing. They always wanted to get the rares ones. Who doesn't right? Last 2 weekends I have noticed 2 of my friends didn't care much. And, slowly, the interest faded away. Now we all going for paint ball.

I don't know if it's Ninatic not coming up with good updates or its just a common thing with every mobile game. Angry birds, Candy crush and now Pokemon Go?

120bits··on Loneliness Is a Warning Sign to Be Social
I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. I applied to jobs in other states as well. But I just ended up with good option and better salary here. Housing is comparatively really cheap compared to California. Lot of outdoors activity, I think just got used to it now.
120bits··on Should I Learn ES5, ES6 or TypeScript
I'm not an expert in front end technologies. Mostly done C all my life and now Java. But, when it came to jumping on to JavaScript and writing Web Apps, I choose Typescript. I don't know what most of the people think about it, but for me it was more about code readability. I can look at Typescript and tell what's going on. Couldn't do this with regular JavaScript.

120bits··on Loneliness Is a Warning Sign to Be Social
I moved out from Bay Area, where I had tons of friends. I would go out every other night to hang out with my friends. Talk about startups and upcoming tech stuff and lots of beer off course. But then I found myself in a loop, same old routine. I decided to move some other state, where I am complete stranger. Its been 5 years since I left. Do I get lonely? Off course I do. I would be lying if I won't. But, I don't get depressed. I don't let my brain get in "trap" of convincing myself that I need 100 friends and I need to socialize more. I picked up lot of other activities. Started learning french. Playing guitar and tons of other stuff I thought I would never get time to do.
120bits··on Show HN: A Multiplayer Geography Game Using WebSockets
I loved it!! Would it even better if we have a certain level of zooming to improve the location accuracy. I missed out on some European cities. I think it was Copenhagen.

Nice work!
