This things are top of my list. I use windows PC just for gaming. :)
I have flipboard app on my phone. I have a feed for science and tech.
Twitter to follow some professionals like John Carmack.
Youtube/Google+
I integrated Dropbox and kayak and ton of others app. My parents are not tech savvy and they can still use it.
I installed and went to https://www.java.com/verify/ on google chrome and still says "The Chrome browser does not support NPAPI plug-ins and therefore will not run all Java content. Switch to a different browser (Internet Explorer or Safari on Mac) to run the Java plug-in."
Am I missing something here?
Now, tech savvy people like me can detect spammers/scammers way before in this scenario. But for my mom it took a while. The guy said he was calling from Microsoft and even knew the some ID code of my computer, what she told me. She fell for that. Fortunately, her account doesnt have admin privileges.
Most of the friends are in bay area in tech industry, tells me that tech scene here is amazing and I miss out on the cool dev meetups. I agree, but I think I got used to my life style now. Good work-life balance is hard to achieve.
But I find it strange, that my account was accessed. This raises some concerns.
The first book I read was Beauty and the beast in french. It's a short story to start with. It took me a long time to just read some sentences with proper pronunciation and I'm still working on it. I look up youtube videos for some extra info. The frenchpod101 videos are good. I guess you might have already tried these, but just wanted to mention it anyways. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
This is bothers me alot. My mom got a call from this guy pretending to be MS employee couple of weeks ago. He told her that the PC has been infected by virus and MS has been notified and he is helping her to resolve the issue. For a person like my mom who is not much of tech savy person, the chances are really high to fall for this. Fortunately, she told that guy to call her back later, because she didn't know the administrator password.
Don't know why the stamp was showing Los Angeles, CA when I'm in Salt Lake City, UT. Switching to wifi was much accurate.
Edit: Will it be a good feature to add, where user can randomly pick paper planes on desktop browser as well? Just to see what's going on.
