0x000000001··on The pitfalls of using SSH-agent, or how to use an agent safely
My Yubikey requires physical touch to authorize an SSH connection so it doesn't matter if I forward my agent to malicious servers as their attempts to hijack my socket will result in timeouts from my not authorizing their use with my physical key
0x000000001··on First Female Chess Grandmaster Sues Netflix for ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ Insult

“She was not an important player by their standards; the only unusual thing about her was her sex, and even that wasn’t unique in Russia. There was Nona Gaprindashvili, not up to the level of this tournament, but a player who had met all these Russian grandmasters many times before. ”

Looks like Netflix changed the description of Nona from how she was depicted in the book.

I have the new Weather app in iOS 15 which is the replacement for Dark Sky and they made it better. This was surprising to me.

I can't set custom alerts anymore for e.g., umbrella or UV, but the automatic alerts are exactly how I wanted them anyway... and it's nice that the app changes which data is shown based on the current conditions: if it's going to rain, the map shows weather radar instead of temperature

Most plastic can't be recycled, yep. If it would melt under low heat (plastic bags, food containers, other packaging) it can't be recycled.

HDPE plastic -- the heavy duty stuff? The only truly recyclable plastic.

I throw all plastic that can't be recycled in the trash.

I see this circulating almost yearly now and the story never gets old. This is a huge hole in the public education system that needs to be fixed, but how do you fix it without people screaming that the big scary government is brainwashing your kids?

Every American should have access to the same quality public education. :(

There are switches out there by either Juniper or Cisco (can't remember which job I used them at) which actually have ARM CPUs on each switchport for one hardware acceleration feature :)

Then why are cable companies and the telcos stringing their fiber and coax in the air on telephone poles? They don't do it for the last mike but they do it elsewhere to save money.

I still have fiber above ground running through my yard. ATT doesn't bury it, they just run it above ground and wait for a 3rd party contractor to come by and bury it later. Mines been above ground for 6 months now

Chevy Bolt - battery recall

Hyundai Kona and Ionic EVs - battery recall, can't get parts https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/25/tech/hyundai-ev-recall/index....

VW Id3 and Id4 - massive software issues https://insideevs.com/news/389129/volkswagen-id3-massive-sof...

Either Tesla is actually good at this or all the other car manufacturers are incompetent.

edit: Jaguar FPace had a bunch of issues too.

Basically BMW and Audi have EVs that launched OK but they can't afford to build them at scale

Nissan Leaf is still going fine

Really sucks this is happening because it gives EVs a bad reputation
