zulln··on France to tax flights from its airports, airline shares fall
> I suppose the Airlines will just pass along any new taxes to the traveling consumer.

Well, yeah, but what is the problem with that? The price increase thus decreasing the demand of flights, achieving the goal.

zulln··on Firefox zero-day was used in attack against Coinbase employees, not its users
Then the attacker could buy ads on a site they suspect you will visit.

As long as the employee need to be able to browse the internet any whitelisting of links seems like a waste of resources.

zulln··on Xiaomi explains more about how its under-screen camera works
I would like to kill my microphone as well. The fact that I have no easy way of doing that is not an argument for not covering the web cam.
zulln··on Uber data reveals motoring slower than walking in many cities
Driving cost more and then you have the parking problem. There are ups and downs to both alternatives.
zulln··on $500k a Year yet Struggling? Let's Do a Double Take
> importing an au pair

No idea if this is the right terminology or not, but it makes it sound really weird in a bad way.

zulln··on Why do you grab your bag when running off a burning plane?
I always fly with my passport in my pocket for similar reason.

I am fine with losing all tech though, with everything being encrypted and backups with anything important elsewhere that seems like a minor inconvenience.

zulln··on Canada Border Services seizes lawyer's phone, laptop for not sharing passwords
That would mean giving away your private data you had on the device to security researchers as well though. While I would want to have such device analysed, I am not sure I am fine with that compromise.
zulln··on Dagen H: The Day Sweden Switched Traffic Sides
Even for TV size?
zulln··on Marijuana testing of job applicants is barred by NYC
Have you been offered any help based on the results? Not saying that you are in need of it, but if you fail drug tests for work it seems reasonable enough to suspect abuse/addiction.
zulln··on The high speed of society has jammed our internal clock
Do you have any guess on why people are doing that?
zulln··on Should you be concerned about LastPass uploading your passwords to its server?
I appreciate that they have a good way of contacting them with security issues, and if I found any by accident or used to tool daily myself I might report stuff. However, I will not dedicate time hacking something I do not use myself, to report stuff for free.
zulln··on The IRS Tried to Take on the Ultrawealthy – It Didn’t Go Well
Do they really 'demand a greater share' in proportion with how much more they contribute?
zulln··on Should you be concerned about LastPass uploading your passwords to its server?
They have a vulnerable disclosure program, not bug bounty, as they are not paying for bugs reported there.

Which is a shame, I have reported bugs to a lot of other password managers, but will not dedicate time to one that is not paying me for it.

zulln··on Society Needs an Alternative Web
If you automatically get the newsletter of a company where you have signed up on their web service, you would mark that as spam?

I would unsubscribe and delete, but have not really thought about marking as spam or not yet. Just interested in some input there.

If I would get it from a company where I have not signed up the answer is of course obvious.

zulln··on Barcelona Fines Landlords Who Let Buildings Sit Empty
There has never been as few empty properties as there is now (according to parent comment). As such, it should be less of a problem now than before? Not the other way around?
zulln··on Show HN: A browser extension which blocks chat/helpdesk widgets
Not possible. You cannot block a specific script by that approach.
zulln··on Show HN: A browser extension which blocks chat/helpdesk widgets
uBlock Origin has a lot of suggested rule lists to subscribe to, including those made for general annoyances. I have found that the country-specific sometimes also do these things instead of only ads.

Not sure it would solve all your problems, but can recommend to look it up. Really easy to add more rules yourself, and consider making pull requests if you find other things to block.

zulln··on Show HN: A browser extension which blocks chat/helpdesk widgets
I was going to write an extension the other day to block custom responses in Slack, as they gets triggered way too often in one of the workspaces I am in. While figuring out the best way of identifying those messages I realized it would be enough to just add one line to uBlock Origin rules.

(for those interested: ##.c-message--custom_response)

zulln··on Google’s new voice recognition system works instantly and offline (Pixel only)
Disable mobile netork for Maps specificially, while keeping it on for everything else.
zulln··on New Skype for Web is live for Edge and Chrome browsers
Depends on how you use Skype, but I have used both https://appear.in/ and Zoom (there is a web version!) successfully.

Think you would have to define your use case slightly more.

zulln··on Airbnb to Acquire HotelTonight
Uh?
zulln··on Some young people are buying houses with friends
In addition to remote work, there is better/faster/cheaper transportation possibilities as well!
zulln··on Spotify adds 1M unique listeners in India in less than a week
Spotify is producing their own music. Those recommended playlist of piano music, chill, or whatever general theme with artists that you have never heard about? That is because it has been produced by them is only available there.

Probably not at the same scale as Netflix and the sources on how common it actually is seems limited, but interesting nonetheless.

Edit, apparently Spotify has refuted this. Imo, it would make sense for Spotify to do this, so not sure what to think https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jul/13/are-spoti...

zulln··on Facebook exploit – Confirm website visitor identities
That is a strange way of thinking about it. Should not Facebook instead incentivize the kind of bug they are interested in, rather than caring how long time it took to find?
zulln··on Carpocalypse now: Lyft's founders are right – we're in the endgame for cars
Cannot you just rent on an extended period of time then? Even if you want to "go off roading" once in a while, you probably are not constantly using it.
zulln··on Teen Becomes First Hacker to Earn $1M Through Bug Bounties
Do you have any suggestions on how? I do not doubt it can be automated, but it is one of few vulnerability types I do not have an intuitively understanding on how it should be done.

It seems hard to automatically understanding the difference with IDOR-vulnerability in the HR-system (from your link), salary.php?employee=EMP-00000 where you can change the ID for another employee and article.php?id=123 in a newspaper site.

zulln··on Show HN: I made a site that lets you stream any torrent
Around here gigabit-internet is quite common, so on a decent tracker it would be enough to start the download before making the popcorn.
