zs234465234165··on Ask HN: What's your note-taking methodology?
Not op but I enjoy trying different note taking processes

One take away from this thread is to try going all in making my notes into anki format as i take them. Currently my workflow has the anki creation separately and I never get around to converting the notes.

I also wish that I could narrow myself down to 1 tool, rather than todoist, googledocs, and anki it would be freeing(and more effective) to only use anki

Now that I think about this, creating the anki on the fly will force me to actively read and might improve the note quality in general.

zs234465234165··on Ask HN: If you cut caffeine, how long would you last at your job?
This year I reduced my caff from avg 160mg/day(rockstar) to 50mg(caffeinated sparkling water) and also limit to 3days a week(tues-thur). I get the same effect from the reduced mg because of the reduction in frequency. This change is having a profound impact on my anxiety, irritation, and overall contentment. I am far less reactive and much more zenlike. Productivity has increased because I feel like I get a boost on the caff days, rather than feeding a dependency, and I structure my work accordingly.
zs234465234165··on Ask HN: How do you keep up with replies to comment threads on HN?
I use feedly rss and save interesting hn links, I’m not able to keep up with the volume so it will be a few days until I look at the comments and they are typically matured by then

zs234465234165··on Todo apps are meant for robots
I recently started using spreadsheets for my todo list and it's been great. I put date in column A, which is far superior to Calendars or todo apps for visualizing dates in the future, and recurring goals e.g. do x for 30 days. I can re-order, and hide columns or future rows and I have an ever continuous history of past events. I use the column headers to specify goals categories or other aspects of my life such as “Strength and flexibility”, “Write / Do”, “Read / Listen” or “Social”. I try my best to limit 1 item per category and this helps me prioritize and balance across a spectrum of goals. I’ve used almost every todo app or system and they always end up being a wasteland of things I’ll never get around to. For work I like to use a Kanban type board and email.
zs234465234165··on Ask HN: Do you have a process or a framework to learn specific skills quickly?
I am afraid I have to disagree. The very act of creating Anki cards or any flashcards, for that matter, is unparalleled for learning new material. I would consider it similar to the Feynman method in that it forces you to dive deeper into what you do not understand.
zs234465234165··on All problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone (2014)
100%

The difference between an introvert and an extrovert is best displayed when there is a lack of incentive.

Introverts can readily step into an extroverted role when it's necessary and aligns with their goals.

Introverts are not going to toast at a large party without good reason(improving speaking skills, impressing a guest, etc) whereas an extrovert might give a toast for fun.

Does your blood settle in the top or lower part of your head?

Some bias is shown through:

#2 hackers and big bad government aren't the only reason for being leery about 'big tracking'

#3 People also buy damaging(mlm) products and products they genuinely hate from these same ads

but I agree with your other points.
