zitterbewegung··on AI is now capable of developing its own inference hardware
Etched is a startup doing exactly this.

zitterbewegung··on Using Blu-ray M-Disk as backup of last resort
Having long-term backups like this I wonder if bundling a known-working Blu-ray reader or even a combination writer is a good idea. Hypothetically a reader would be hard to come by. With a reader I would either need a adapter to make it work.
zitterbewegung··on Magic Switch: Share Apple Magic keyboard/track-pad/mouse between two Macs
Why should I use this when Universal Control is in macOS?
zitterbewegung··on Muse Gadgets
Well like that’s your opinion. You aren’t forced to use the platform just vibe. Code it instead
zitterbewegung··on Muse Gadgets
This looks exiting for tinkerers. This feels like the early days of voice assistants again except it’s more AI driven this time.
zitterbewegung··on Clef: our open-source decision models
You just have to fine tune an LLM like Qwen on some synthetic data to do so. There was even someone that had a model that was exactly like Typesafe and published their work a year before Jev (but wasn't marketed as heavily since it was academic).
zitterbewegung··on The last time my family was replaced by technology
This doesn't make sense at all. It is a bad statistical analysis of consumer spending. [1] A few things from the thread on why by Levy on why it feels wrong .

First, why does it feel wrong?

1. the top 10% get about 50% of pre-tax income

2. they get 30 to 37% of disposable income after tax&transfers (depending on source)

3. and we know the rich have a higher savings rate, so consume a lesser share of their income (US, China)

zitterbewegung··on Tcl/Tk 9.1
Sort of interesting how Python has got rid of the GIL. Serialization of data securities is still something relevant though and I’m not sure if you should use pickle still?
zitterbewegung··on GLM-5.3 and the spread of advanced cyber capabilities
Now is any good time to download GLM-5.3 from hugging face https://huggingface.co/zai-org/GLM-5.3
zitterbewegung··on macOS Golden Gate Is a Buggy Mess
These visual UI problems which are showing some sloppiness in the UI is much better than macOS 26 and honestly I really like Golden Gate for more efficiency and the fact that Siri actually works now and can replace a great deal of things I usually would have googled.
zitterbewegung··on Radicle: Disclosure of Vulnerability in the Network Protocol
If a core feature of your software requires security guarantees you can't just say they don't have a "security team" .
zitterbewegung··on Transit rewards
One of these doesn't require a multi-decade approval process for good reason. (Figuring out the logistics and civil engineering planning is a real thing and building it out isn't trivial) . Of course this could change
zitterbewegung··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
I didn't realize they were ads.... this is weird
zitterbewegung··on Tell the speakers that you liked their talks
I have given lots of talks and if i have a hostile critic i would want that over people saying great talk or even indifference. I learn more from critics than anything else and it definitely gives me evidence that people were actually understanding my talk or even where they misunderstood me.
zitterbewegung··on iPhone Duo
You can do a productivity task where you can't just have a MacBook Neo out.
zitterbewegung··on iPhone Duo
Yes, with a much bigger screen I can definitely see this making me more productive and it is in between an iPad that getting through even minimal productivity tasks would work and bigger screens help a lot. Even though $1999 only gives you 256GB at least you get that low of a price point. Would have to see it in person though especially about the crease and the camera(s). (EDIT) I have a Clicks power keyboard which I can use with this. Seems like I should clarify that I can use this where a regular laptop can't be used. And since more people are interested in what I can use email, calendar and codex / Claude code (in fact Claude codr is why I have the clicks power keyboard)
zitterbewegung··on Finder is so frustrating and has been since day one
If you do option while moving the file it merges both directories but even I didn't know this until I googled it.
zitterbewegung··on The ChatGPT/Codex app bundles a full copy of LibreOffice
It might be for their new Work product which can produce docx, pdf and pox files.
zitterbewegung··on Polishing Cloth Updated
I believe I got this cloth with my new MacBook Pro with the nano texture display was very different than the original.
zitterbewegung··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra
Other than the local AI crowd which is much recent it is professionals using Final Cut Pro for video editing, Logic Pro as a DAW and music production, Video transcoding, Photoshop and other tasks for high performance computing that don't need Laptops but want above 128GB of ram and prefer a Mac. Then there is the obvious group of developers that are making Apps for all of their products. Also, these are great for the workplace. AI is much more recent thing that Apple products were used for.

If Apple didn't sold these things they wouldn't make them but, also the level of marketing that Apple is talking about for AI is basically the new group they need to capture because the ones I just listed are already buying Macs and or easily to motivate with the other obvious CPU / GPU performance upgrades for code compilation, faster memory and video transcoding.

zitterbewegung··on Pixel Watch 5
The more power user things I do would be to change the complications on my Apple Watch to keep it in context such as AQI and or something like an ETF I want to look at or setup a world time. I frequently use the timer function on my watch and read my email and reply to emails on my watch. Less obvious is the synergy with the ecosystem such as iPhone and Mac unlocking and keeping track of the weather and using Apple Music on my watch instead of my iPhone to keep tracking my battery and flight tracking.

I also use it to keep track of ChatGPT and Claude and I think one of them I can approve tasks with.

zitterbewegung··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (August 2026)
I’m attending defcon 34 and I vibe coded an image sharing app running on the badge https://github.com/zitterbewegung/dc34-baogram . When you share a picture you have taken you also digitally sign each picture you share so people know who took the picture . You can also upload arbitrary images using your computer.
zitterbewegung··on Why is Everyone in Tech so sad?
When have people in Tech been happy? (Serious question).
zitterbewegung··on Interviewing Engineers in the AI Era: Lessons from a Year of Rebuilding
I'm not sure if it is a good idea when you are referencing your "rebuilding" after you reduce headcount by 14% . If this isn't some kind of entendre then it's actually extremely effective.

zitterbewegung··on So Reddit has decided that plain HTML is unsafe
How do you think the bots are trained? Reddit has really good data since its comments and tags and specific subreddits basically have ranked questions and answers by points driven by the title and the comments are ranked by points which have quality answers.
zitterbewegung··on Incremental – A library for incremental computations
The problem was that people who know python don't really expect this specific DSL and it is easier for someone that doesn't know python and just learn their DSL and then read the rest of python.
zitterbewegung··on Incremental – A library for incremental computations
Yea and this created "bank python" informally a good article is here.

https://calpaterson.com/bank-python.html

The best description about how it became a problem is one of the paragraphs.

"New starters take an exceptionally long time to get up to speed - and that's if they don't resign in fit of pique as soon as they see the special, mandatory, in-house IDE (as I nearly did). Even months in, new starters are still learning quite fundamental new things: there is a lot that is different."

I think it took me til I was there around two and a half years to fully comprehend it when I was working on it. Not much modern training til they figured out they had to teach it again that was better. The worst part is to make an UI around it coding it and it wasn't approved for new projects.

zitterbewegung··on Codex Micro
IMHO this is a much better solution.

https://marketplace.elgato.com/product/claude-code-usage-ea7...

I actually have this as a problem with Codex / Claude where I don't know if I have to make a decision .

zitterbewegung··on Solving 20 Erdős Problems with 20 Codex Accounts Running in Parallel
With Aristotle you could formalize a proof from only the text of a paper.
zitterbewegung··on Codex Micro
Would think they would be doing it for their own hardware device for chatgpt not for developers.
