It's already a system where unaccountable private monopolistic moralizing multinational middle men have the power to tell you what you can spend your money on.
Sorry for your loss, but this experience is not universal in Toronto. I was visiting my (sick) older brother about a year ago when he woke me up calling out about chest pain. I called an ambulance and they were there within about 10 minutes and saved his life, for which me and my family are so very grateful. Had he been visiting me here in Ohio when he had his heart attack, the results may not have been as good.
Interestingly "no government" also appears to be exactly what is happening in the US with what some people might describe as end stage Capitalist society.
Personally, I think the argument that "open source is a better way to engineer software" has largely proven to be untrue and FOSS' only advantage has been in protecting the rights of end users (who may also be developers).
Absolutely. RTO mandates. Blanket AI adoption for developers. All these asinine trends done solely to make executives feel like they are still relevant.
The blanket RTO mandate is peak cargo cult thinking and a great example of why executives should be the first employees that should be replaced with "AI", rather than the last.
I've been using btrfs on my NAS for years and have not had any problems. I suspect there are a hell of a lot of people like me you will not hear about because people don't generally get as vocal when things just work.
I am following the development of a new company called Slate who are specifically trying to build low cost EV's by shunning gimmicky BS like "self driving" and selling them with only an extremely limited number of options from the factory.
I saw it last night. The cinematography of the racing sequences was interesting. The races they actually depicted were not, though. The human story line was trash, just a really hokey "old guy uses gut feeling to beat young people using science" movie plot. And Pitt did himself no favours in this movie with his acting.
Personally, I fully expect this to gradually become the primary method by which all ID is issued and used. Cell phones are already effectively mandatory to function in our society, so whether you need to target a protest of potential dissidents or an audience of potential customers, it's the perfect one stop shop for our newly emerging highly integrated state+industry power structure.
Four years of air drying may not have been enough, depending on the thickness of the boards and the moisture level in the air. Also the issues of wood movement and grain direction must be considered during the design and manufacturing of furniture with that wood. Home sawn wood will often have knots, randomly curved grain, etc, so it can be more difficult to get predictable results.
If you read the marketing content on their site, the intended method of recycling these structures is to cut up the wood sections and re-use them as structural beams in regular building construction. They aren't grinding them up or melting them down or anything like that. So between the lifespan of the tower and the buildings built (or maintained) with the recycled beams, the useful lifespan of the materials used are long enough to grow new wood to replace them. At least that's my understanding.
> In looking back at our investigations into mishandling or removal of classified information, we cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on these facts. All the cases prosecuted involved some combination of: clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information; or vast quantities of materials exposed in such a way as to support an inference of intentional misconduct; or indications of disloyalty to the United States; or efforts to obstruct justice.
