Tough to compete against your own stake in Anthropic and they just filed for IPO. Not digging Google as a result of this, they are holding back.
zergrush··on Does Reddit have an astroturfing problem? What the data suggests
Those redditors are here on HN and it has inherited a lot of the same far left ideology. You can see it common place now, stalking comment history, flagging so that they will get banned. It's not even necessarily political but having different opinions or not agreeing with narratives they subscribe to, exactly the same flaws that Reddit has.

I've stopped engaging on HN a lot because of the characteristic change I notice especially since 2020.

zergrush··on Does Reddit have an astroturfing problem? What the data suggests
yeah reddit but also its old as time I see people do it on HN as well

this type of behavior just comes from a deep place of misery and anger

the amount of time someone spends online is directly related to their socioeconomic status

someone with a rich vibrant and wholesome life with economic comforts to do travelling and hobbies dont have time to go through somebodys comment history and spend time judging and trying to instigate others

someone without those things are going to be online all day.

zergrush··on Does Reddit have an astroturfing problem? What the data suggests
This is why Reddit is a low value high effort distribution channel. When your userbase is hostile and suspicious constantly to any commercial introductions, advertising there becomes just an exercise in futility. The demographic also is problematic on Bluesky. Same on hackernews. Astroturfing is certainly a response to this friction and in turn it only creates more of it.

Also specifically with Reddit they have allowed hiding comment history which makes it even harder, I imagine they did this for boosting ad business

There are much better platforms to spend your effort on like X. X requires many users to purchase a subscription account and thus acts as sort of a litmus test (people who can afford low amount of money per month).

zergrush··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
I'm fascinated how little people know about Japan are seemingly the loudest in the room when it comes to deciding what Japan should do.
zergrush··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
So Japan had minorities and borrowed writing system from other countries thousands of years ago mean they need to now redefine what Japanese identity is and become a full multicultural nation the likes of North America and Western Europe ?

So if sushi replaced turkey for Thanksgiving, do non-Americans get to tell Americans how they should organize themselves too and define what a real American is ?

zergrush··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
Shitty situation I'm sure but no matter how you spin it or complain its shouting into the void. Whether there was real plus or minus ultimately as you pointed out make up a very microscopic fraction of Japanese economy and priority from the Japanese point of view, who's voice almost always override those of foreigners.

It would be nice for everybody to be happy but its clear Japanese who are the rightful owners of the land are not, and thus they have a right to vote and through consensus decide on what they perceive to be best for their national interests.

Maybe it's good for them maybe it's not but it won't be heard like all the comments here including mine or visible to real Japanese people living in Japan.

zergrush··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
Korean men and Japanese women make up the biggest share of international marriages in Japan so there's something more going on here that makes Japanese women highly desirable to men in general.
zergrush··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
I just find it odd so many non-Japanese media and commentators weigh in on this.

Japan is not a multicultural country. You can't become Japanese through paperwork. It is very much through blood heritage, your language and cultural proficiency.

The bar to be Japanese is much higher than say Canadian or French. So why shouldn't they create laws that is aimed at benefiting themselves and their country without depending on foreigners?

Also if you have a business and you don't have $125,000 you are not going to make it in Canada or America either.

zergrush··on Unreal Agent
that shouldn't be what eats up tokens tho

gpt 6 sol already made a lot of progress with caches

i have a feeling unreal agent might have decided to release now rather than getting sherlocked

i just think its very risky right now to spend too much time building harnesses or anything on top of codex or claude simply because frontier labs will just absorb whatever works

zergrush··on Microsoft killed FoxPro in 2007. Anyway, here's FoxPro revived
what was foxpro , for younger gen here
zergrush··on OpenAI is well positioned to fast-follow Jev
comments are pretty weird here, there's no real moat to what jev is doing, it is certain that frontier labs are going to release their own jev and there are even open source alternatives (although nowhere near as accurate as jev).

so maybe typesafe's real plan is to front run and releasing their own new models for some time until they can get acquired which seems to be the only rational objective

zergrush··on Robin Williams' Daughter to Fans Creating AI Videos: 'Have Some Shame'
Before this article I wasn't even aware but 100% there's going to be a huge increase in Robin Williams AI saying/doing whack shit just like all the other AI footage of famous people.

If you are publicly famous, your image no longer is owned by you, especially true with AI now.

zergrush··on Robin Williams' Daughter to Fans Creating AI Videos: 'Have Some Shame'
Not necessarily, anonymity enables a lot of interesting behaviors. I see it all the time on HN.
zergrush··on Robin Williams' Daughter to Fans Creating AI Videos: 'Have Some Shame'
The irony here is that this article is now a giant invitation to everyone else who just found out about this to pile on and do the exact opposite

There are a few but they are empty

I enjoy them a lot

zergrush··on Suspected sabotage causes major Netherlands rail disruption
Do you have evidence that Russia did this ?
zergrush··on Pion, an agent designed to run any company autonomously
anybody actually running a business mostly automated with AI agents? Where are you finding success in? I just find it very skeptical that the human can be taken out of the loop entirely
zergrush··on Pion, an agent designed to run any company autonomously
interesting....i didn't know people still bought books from bookstore when they compete with Amazon, who are your demographics? I really do love the bookstores but haven't been in one in ages
zergrush··on Suspected sabotage causes major Netherlands rail disruption
Why do people automatically jump to conclusion that it was Russia in the comments? They haven't even released any evidence or investigation yet in official sense.
zergrush··on Proposed Rule: Eliminating the Discretionary 60-Day Grace Period

definitely not a good time for H1Bs

zergrush··on GPT-5.6 Luna vs. GPT-6 Astra: Is a $1.20 Model Good Enough for Code Review?
i think gpt 5.6 luna-max in particular is excellent for non long term agentic use

code reviews, unit tests, docs, whatever you dont want more expensive models working

i think the new muse contributor model is enticing too if you are not using it for private/sensitive stuff
