zephrx1111··on How to stop junk mail
I don’t see the point of giving up more personal privacy, just to beg some org that we have no control, for some mercy that they may take back anytime they want.

Are we encouraging them to send us more junk whatever, and then charge us more for their spareness? Is there really end of this game, if the rule is in their hands?

zephrx1111··on Profiles of people living in homeless encampments, rarely what you’d expect
I saw many comments are talking about "empathy" here. Does anybody agree that too much empathy is actually part of the problem?
zephrx1111··on Computer science is a liberal arts degree
From the title only, I can deduce why US has to import so many programmers from China and India.
zephrx1111··on Neoliberalism has resulted in preference for greater income inequality
Is neoliberalism just an alias of conservatism?
zephrx1111··on Book Review: The Programmer's Brain
Nope. This book is pretty disappointing. The author seems not a experienced programmer.
zephrx1111··on L.A. judge rules LGBT corporate diversity law unconstitutional
A victory of common sense.
zephrx1111··on Reinstating our SAT/ACT requirement for future admissions cycles
The purpose of college admission should make sure that students sitting in the same room should have similar learning ability. Denying the existence of uneven learning ability in students only makes things worse.
zephrx1111··on I advised a student to not publish evidence of reverse racism
Having diversity and having diversity NOW are tow diff concepts, like lose weight and lose weight NOW. With the diversity NOW mindset, politicians will impose many shortsighted policies, that has much much bigger false positive and negatives. The current policies are harming Asian poors, and benefiting rich minorities, for sure. Are we confident these policies are "effective", and will carry them over say for the next 20 years?
zephrx1111··on States where teachers’ unions are strongest are slowest to get back to in-person
No. It is saying service providers that control the market are more intended to provide poor services, or even deny their duties, no matter how badly the service receivers need.
zephrx1111··on I advised a student to not publish evidence of reverse racism
I'm an Asian. I learned 2 lessons after I came to America.

First, I was taught racism here. I didn't aware any racism in my home country. Here, after I became a victim of reverse racism, I learned how this industry works: holding the barometer needle and pretending the pressure are changing.

Second, for the competitiveness, we can't fool ourselves, and others as well.

If I join a competitive group that I don't deserve because of my quality, I know I don't deserve to be here, hence will feel inferior. I can fool the admission office, but cannot fool myself.

Top science requires top brains. Now I can see US is importing more and more top brains worldwide, because she cannot produce enough here. Immigration country is built on sand. Top brains can easily find other better places to live, if you don't treat them equally, no matter what the so called "original intention" is. That's how free market works.

Above are my 2 lessons.

zephrx1111··on Study finds most unemployed young men have criminal records
Do we need a study to find this?
zephrx1111··on A Texas School District Banned My Book. Then Things Got Ugly
So, it seems the author is worried the current middle school kids don’t have enough good books to read, so, they have to read this book?

Should a middle school kid read books proved overtime? I believe they still have enough time in their life to build the immune systems for such controversial topics.

zephrx1111··on UC slams the door on standardized admissions tests, nixing any SAT alternative
As Nasim Taleb said: The Most Intolerant Wins. UC has a long slope to slide - down to the tipping point. As long as UC is not burnt right now, these expert wouldn't stand up and open their mouth, till there is no need to stand up anymore. The solution, well, as Taleb said: we need to be more than intolerant with some intolerant minorities. Stand up and fight right now.
zephrx1111··on Write thin to write fast
I’d say, Chinese and Japanese are writing vertically for thousands years.
zephrx1111··on A terrible schema from a clueless programmer
I think this post showed us how an engineer on the Mt. stupid looks like. Apparently this design is wrong. We should rely on the indexing ability of database itself, instead of inventing our own indexing system.
zephrx1111··on Reasons for Speaking Out on Sex and Gender Issues (2020)
I see how awkward you are when saying this
zephrx1111··on Facebook Recruiter Correspondence
I think the topic here is not what FB did wrong, but what's the difference b/w FB and, say twitter or medium. They are all platforms, but why only FB got grilled on fire.
zephrx1111··on YouTube permanently bans Right Wing Watch
So how about the left extremists accounts? Is it double standard?
zephrx1111··on Boston public schools suspend advanced learning classes
Correct things, no matter you claim them politically correct or not, are correct, for the entire human being, like math.

The gift program, boiling to the bottom, is selecting elites for the interest of the country, or entire human being.

The mindset of these educators is that education is a benefit, not a journey, granted to some people.

zephrx1111··on Boston public schools suspend advanced learning classes
zephrx1111··on Boston public schools suspend advanced learning classes
傻逼
zephrx1111··on The US Is Seeing a Spike in Anti-Asian Hate Crimes
NY, San Francisco, San Jose, the 3 examples all happened in deep blue cities.
